Before I bought this lens, the widest EF-S lens I owned was the 18-55mm kit lens that came with my Canon EOS Rebel T6i. 18mm gets a fairly decent wide field of view which I had been happy with for quite some time. I knew that this lens could pull nearly double the field of view in each direction but I didn't realize how vital it would become right after I bought it! For the longest time, I had an issue where photos I'd take could come out very nicely, yet many situations where I'd shoot wouldn't capture everything that made me love what I was seeing so much. The reach of this lens is nearly as wide as it gets without buying an expensive fisheye lens, plus it's a stabilized lens which is great for photo and video alike, and here's the kicker: it swallows everything you see in your natural field of view including your peripheral vision, capturing things that make what you see so wonderful but that you don't look at directly. You can't fully appreciate this lens until you try it. The only disadvantage is the narrow aperture; this is not an ideal lens for capturing situations with poor indoor lighting, though it can still work if you are a reasonably skilled camera operator.

This is a nice lens for the price. I bought it to take photographs inside for real estate. It does an excellent job of capturing the space without distortion. The lens doesn't work well in low light conditions. I missed the cutoff to return or I would've returned and upgraded to a better lens. The pictures look great but I had to photo shop to brighten up. I'll use it for landscape photographs most likely.

Check any of the many online reviews from photo magazines. Most expert evaluations are very impressive. Basically it’s just really nice glass in a cost cutting high quality plastic body. I have EF lenses and I must say, other than it’s basic build quality this little lens really stands up.
Oh, by the way. Because of the plastic body it’s VERY lightweight.
I’m using it primarily in real estate photography for the small bedrooms and bathrooms that don’t quite fit in my EF 20mm. It’s not the brightest but that’s ok in a bright room. The lens seems to have a nice sweet spot at around 12 to 14mm.
I’ve yet to use it for video but it seems to have been built with that in mind as the auto focus is just dead silent.
At $279 you won’t be disappointed!

I purchased this lens specifically for real estate photography. I have used it on multiple sessions outside of real estate and found it to be a workhorse worthy of everyday carry.

Taken about 300 photos with this lens already and really dont have any complaints. not the best lens at night but its still great overall! this is my second lens next to my 18-55 kit lens. would definitely recommend to someone looking for a wide angle non fisheye lens. solid price too

Must have for your cropped sensor camera. Great for landscapes or just trying to show people how you view the world with your eye. I shoot most of my pictures at f/8 to f/13 and it gives great sharp images. It performs okay in low light but attaching a tripod and bumping up the shutter will fix this. Took this lens with me to Disneyland it I am very happy with the pictures i got!

I use this lens for interior shots of homes. It makes a smaller kitchen appear larger. If the room is very large you will be able to capture the entire room because of the wide angle lens. I also use this lens for outdoor shots in my garden. And it is pretty decent even for taking photos of people when you zoom in.
It is not the sharpest lens in the world but better than the kit lens. Next upgrade will be one of the super sharp lenses but the cost is very high approx. $800. Highly recommend this lens for photographers like myself who enjoys taking photos of beautiful homes, gardens, people etc. The attached photos are not the RAW files since the file size is too large. They are reduced from 6.000 px to 4,000 px and export it as 80% quality photo instead of 100% quality due to the restrictions of this website.

Been taking a lot of landscape photos ever since I bought this lens. It is an EF-S lens so remember it won't be compatible with Canon's full frame cameras. I pair this lens with my EOS Rebel T6S and is currently my default go-to camera setup. Got this lens for 199.99 and it is a lot of lens for what you pay for.

I don't know how did I took Real Estate Pictures without it, it really makes the difference to have a 10mm-18mm lens, I always used the 18mm-130mm but this is the best quality you can have even cheaper than other generic brands

Takes excellent wide angle photos both indoors and outside. Very good image quality and the close up distortion allows the photographer to get creative with ordinary photos.

I was hesitant to get this lens because for some reason, the price made me think it would be subpar; it is not. after reading the other reviews, I decided to give it a try; it has great image quality and is now part of my arsenal. I use it mostly for travel and/or indoor shots.

I tried with a lens I commonly use, then took some shots with this lens. The details were sharp like my other lens, but with a great wide angle. I purchased it for taking wide shots inside for architecture, it didn't disappoint.

Great addition to my lenses collection. I don't regret buying it, the wide angel made taking pictures of Niagara falls a while different experience, pics came out sharp and great. Anyone who loves taking pictures of nature and landscaping should add this to the gear...

Was concerned how this would perform against it's bigger brother the 10-22mm (at almost twice the price). I'm NOT disappointed. When hiking, I leave this on my camera and don't remove it. Great lens, great pics.

A Good Wide Angle Lens

I wanted a low budget wide angle lens that I could use indoors and for close shots outdoors. This lens gives you the flexibility to get that group shot with very good detail in a small room. Outdoor use is a bit limited. This lens will miss details of the shot if used as a zoom. Has the results I expected used with my t3i and 70D.

Great lens for getting wide shots outdoors and indoors. I've been taking up close shots of my Artwork which is great for detail and getting a wide shot to fit in the frame. Was able to take great family photos too, especially if you have a big family. Super easy to use as well!
