I purchased this printer for my grandson to use when he left for collage. This was his choice as it was the sturdiest of the 3 I chose for him to pick from. He said it works great.

Software programing via cable and disk took a number of try's before working.

Excellent printer and scanner for any home or office. It can be connected to the network in order to connect it to any device.

This is a very reasonably priced multifunction printer. I thought it would work fine for residential use. Unfortunately, the print quality of this printer is so poor or low that it cannot even print output that is discernible. For example, when trying to print out PDF forms that I can fill in, I am not even able to see the lines on the boxes. Even when changing the dpi to 600x600 the print quality is unacceptable. I waited past the 15 day deadline and I cannot return it to Best Buy. Another reason to shop elsewhere.

I went through a network install according to directions. It takes FOREVER to get the first page to print -- typically about six minutes. Tonight it took 6 minutes for the first page of a five page MS Word text document with no graphics to print. Then it took four more minutes to print a second first page. Then two more minutes to print a third first page, then two minutes to print page two. Then four minutes to print another page one. At which time I canceled the print job. This laser printer and driver combination are slower than my dot-matrix printer of 25 years ago! Something is seriously wrong with this piece of junk and unless Canon can give me a quick solution, it is going back to BestBuy! This Canon copier/printer replaces another Canon which just died. The previous one was fast and printed everything instantly. Same computer, same network.

Best Buy lists this printer as having double-sided scanning. This is not true.

I have a Mac and it had trouble connecting with it. Print quality was also too light.

I have owned Canon multi-function printers for many years. I got tired of feeding inkjet cartridges into the printer so decided to purchase a B&W laser printer. The Canons had the least negative reviews of the brands I looked into. So I bought this printer with high hopes. Which were immediately dashed. If you scan and actually want to be able to read the scans, DO NOT buy this printer. The scan quality is terrible. As other reviewers have noted, this printer seems to scan about half of the original, so the scan comes out faint, like it's pixellated, with missing parts. The copies aren't so good either. I haven't had a laser printer for almost 25 years, but it seems that the copies of the MF244dw are ink jet quality. I called Canon tech support to go through the settings for scanning. Thought it would help, but no change whatsoever in the result. I returned this printer. Wish I had a photo of my scans to post, but they all had PII.
