We replaced an older Canon and this camera meets our needs and more - - nice quality piece of equipment that's easy to use and which takes more than satisfactory pictures. No complaints so far.

Purchase the extended warranty! I bought this to replace an identical one that has a bad display.(Black vertical lines) While I don't know how or why it failed, I do know that Canon will not give any leeway on a month out of warranty.
Otherwise it is a nice camera, easy to use with plenty of nice features.
I did like it enough to buy another, with a extended warranty.

Great camera. The pictures come out very clear. Bought it for my wife as a Christmas present and she's really enjoying it. Greatest camera purchase I've made in a while.

This is one of my favorite cameras and I love it. I use it all the time and it’s easy enough for my technologically challenged mother to use, which is really nice!

Has shutter and aperture priority, full manual mode, program mode, shoots HD video, and has some special features that are really nice (blurred background, wink or smile picture trigger, night shooting without shaking).

Had to replace my s100 when it locked up out of warranty. Great replacement, particularly now that the flash is a pop-up instead of motorized (what crapped out on my s100). Great low light, fits in your pocket.

Would have preferred if manual was included. A little too many options for what I needed. More complex than expected; especially burst mode. Takes great pictures.

This camera does it all and then some. This is a perfect camera to take any where you are going to shoot video or pictures. It is in a class of its own. Highly recommend it.

Not sure if Canon fixed the S-120 battery problem (running low quickly), so I returned it before arrival at the store pick-up.

This camera is a great standard point and shoot. Nice and sturdy, takes beautiful fast photos. Video quality is great for short trips. Only wish there was a panoramic function for photos, but overall fantastic!

Waited a long time for canon to come out with a camera that could finally rival sony. I think I've finally found it but it will be some time before I am used to it enough to give a full rating. Initial impression is promising.

It takes great photos for a small point-and-shoot camera. I love the manual settings. I usually use it for low-light settings or when I don't want to carry my DSLR camera and it does a fine job.

I bought this camera to replace another Canon Powershot that I had for 5 plus years. I like the big viewing screen and the flash seems to work well. Setting up shot ( pushing shutter button half-way down before shooting) takes some getting used to, but I am very happy with the camera so far.

Im not sure you can get a better point and shoot for $400, of course you can get better cameras in the $500 - $700 range. Most families will not need anything more then this. We own two Canon 7D's, a T3i, some older cameras, and this camera hangs with them all minus the ability to change lenses. After our daughter was born my wife wanted a nice compact camera for her purse and this is it. I only have one con about this camera and that is that the flash does not automatically pop up and go down like on the previous model the S110. Although is is better to loose the auto flash and upgrade to the S120 and have the 1.8/f lens. I think we have used the flash once, thats how well this camera takes in ambient light. The focusing system on this camera is amazing. It gives you the option for touch focusing which and greatly increase the amount of blur your adding to your backgrounds. The shutter speed is awesome if you are used to shooting in TV mode for sports and other fast paced activities. The touch screen is very nice, and has great color, however being used to shooting on full size professional cameras I find myself not using the tough screen very much. This camera give you most of the modes your going to find on a high end dslr. It also adds a couple star modes, one to enhance stars in night photos, and one to shoot stair trails however a tripod would be needed for the latter. It adds some really need scene modes. Some of my favorites are the snow mode and night shot mode which both work really well. The overall build quality of this camera is great. Its heavy duty and metal cased. The camera is a little slippery to hold the wrist strap is a good idea.

Terrible, I used to love the S110 and always got it.
I have gotten two S120 and have had to returned them because the flash button did not work. Thay came with that defect and there was no way to turn the flash on. I gave the camera a second chance buying it again but I have only lost time and money (making me loose nearly 100 USD on the warranty I had to buy) and obviously memories from my summer trip.
I guess I will noy buy my next camera from Canon or from that line.
