I had a very difficult time deciding which super zoom to buy. The Sony XR10 IV was my first choice but I keep hearing a new model is on the way so $1,700 when a new model is coming narrowed my choices to either the Nikon p950 or the Canon sx70. The p950 has a little longer zoom but the Canon was lighter and offer 20 megapixel instead of 16. So when it arrived and I took the first few pictures I was thrilled. The quality of the photography is amazing. I had a bluebird that in life is a neon blue and the photo looked as good as the bird. Great fun, great zoom great camera. See photos below. These were all taken before I had even looked at the instructions. This is a simple camera, very easy to use, light weight. The only negative is that it is not weather sealed like the Sony.

I have owned a Canon SX40 HS for several years and have thoroughly enjoyed the convenience that it afforded. I also have a Canon 6D MKII which I use for serious photography. When I got the new SX70 HS, I was surprised how much the controls that are like the EOS line of cameras. I like the wireless and bluetooth capabilities but I found the wireless connection unreliable so I use a third party bluetooth shutter release instead. One big disappointment is the lack of HDR mode that I used a lot with the SX40 HS. I was able to use the camera to take some nice pictures of humming birds in my back yard and am, over all, very happy with the purchase. I plan to use the camera for wildlife photography since it is so light weight and has lots of features, especially the 65X soom.

I have relied on Canon camera equipment for many years. I work with many different manufacturers photo equipment as part of my job. When my wife wanted to replace her old Canon Powershot(very old and still working) we went camera hunting. She was looking for a camera that was small in size, had a viewfinder, and had a decent focal range. The SX70 was the winner. This camera has the widest focal range of most point and shoot cameras we looked at. It was small and light, had a good high resolution chip, and is even capable of shooting RAW files. I may be old school but using a camera without a viewfinder is just not smart. There will always be conditions where it would be nearly impossible to see the display screen, especially in bright sunlight. It can also be very difficult to frame a photo with a steady hand, especially when using telephoto ranges. This camera checked all the boxes.

I purchased this camera primarily for the superzoom option. Telephoto lenses can be expensive and the better ones can run in the $1K's. On first use, this camera surpassed my expectations, and I wanted to do a "test drive" before I reviewed it. I used the SX70 to photograph some friends in a parade and I don't like getting in the way of spectators. It was an all or nothing test of the camera. The photo quality met my expectations, and the superzoom feature worked like I had hoped it would. The ability to use the RAW format is a plus. This would be a great camera to start out with if you're getting into photography, but not sure where to start. It has many of the features you would find in the DSLR and Mirrorless cameras available from Canon, but in a limited capacity. (i.e. Ranges aren't quite as extensive.) Because it's an all in one camera (no lens change capability), it is a great travel camera. I have a DSLR, but I am finding this camera to be my go-to camera when we are out traveling. The camera works best in daylight hours, and low light photography can be challenging (it can be done though). Battery life has been acceptable, but I would recommend a second battery just in case. If you are starting to think seriously about photography, love to travel with out carrying numerous accessories, or just need a camera that takes great photos from up close or far away, the SX70 should be on your list to consider. Specs for this camera can be viewed at Canon and on the Best Buy website. Firmware updates and other downloads are easily accessible at the Canon website.

I'm not one to always need the newest model of appliance or phone but I enjoy trading up each time Canon brings out a new Powershot SX camera. My photos are often mistakenly thought to be taken from a professional camera. I take pictures of birds and the zoom is excellent! After learning the settings, and AUTO is just fine, this camera is very easy to use!

I’ve owned the 40 the 50, the 60 And now the 70. This one has a better zoom and faster snap allowing me to get better photos with movement... like birds in flight. My favorite thing about all the cameras has been tge viewfinder . I order that to the screen. Of course the screen is great for reviewing! I has a canon rebel Which I love but I had changing out the lenses. Truthfully these cameras do as good or better a job as my Rebel!

I am extremely happy that I can now transfer my photos via WiFi, and that is one reason I wanted it. I love the super quiet shutter release which allows me to shoot multiple shots in seconds. The zoom is good, the only thing that I found a little difficult is holding it still for the long zoom shots. I didn't seem to have that problem with the SX50. Haven't had a chance to do further shooting what with Covid having limited my photo excursions.

This is a good camera to take a wide variety of pictures without changing lens and is relatively easy to use once you learn the basics. The pictures I have taken this far have come out realatively well and able to be blown up which indicates the focusing and lens are very good. There is no full instruction book so you have to read the start up guide to get going and then download the large instruction book online to find out specifics. I'm currently putting the camera through the beginning states of photography applications and it seems to have done well. I have high hopes this will be my primary camera in the future!

I purchased for my wife to replace her outdated TI Canon and wanted to stay in the same line so that she could still use all of her lenses! This is a great fit and a very nice camera. Excellent burst capability and the built in flash in great. Camera takes very nice pictures and capturing her tennis shots of her favorite players is better with this camera than her older TI camera. Very easy to use and the 20.3 Megapixel is great. Overall she is very happy with this camera and recommends it highly.

I have 3 kids in sports and getting good shots of them from the stands is awful quality from my phone. I get the best closeup pics of them with this camera, with the sports feature I can take multiple and they aren’t blurry!! On top of this, I have daycare, and we know how much kids live around! I get the best pics and videos of all the little ones and with the linking feature I can download them to my phone and send them to parents during the day. Love Love Love this camera!!!

I have the SX50HS and love it to pieces. I ordered this camera because it is basically the same with some enhanced features like longer telephoto, smoother moving telephoto and WIFI capabilities. I asked before I bought if the WIFI capabilities meant I'd be able to email and text photos directly from the camera and was told yes and was even told yes by another user of this camera. Well, it is not a direct sharing. First you have to download the photos from the camera to your smartphone or iphone and then you can share from there. That is not the way I understood it so I am returning it but otherwise it is a great camera.

I do a lot of birdwatching and wildlife photography. Six years ago, I started with the Canon SX40, four years ago I got the SX60, and now this SX70. Each one has had nice improvements, with the SX70 having a sharper viewfinder and faster focus than the SX60. I get great magnification and flexibility for a reasonable price with very nice picture quality.
