I’ve now had the opportunity to use this lens for three birding trips and several day trips at my local parks and refuges and I am very pleased with this lens. My experience with this lens is on the R7 and R8 and I have been very pleased with the image quality on both cameras even at 800mm and wide open at f/9. The first thing I noticed is that the lens feels very well built. Once I got it mounted on my camera the first thing I noticed was how fast the auto-focus is. Having the ability to zoom is a great benefit in that it really opens up opportunities to photograph scenes in a variety of ways. The through on the zoom ring is quite long so zooming from 200-800 is a little awkward but I find that if I keep the zoom at 800mm and back off when necessary it is pretty manageable. The lens is a little on the heavy side but the tripod foot is a good size making it a comfortable handle to carry the lens from and overall I find the lens well balanced and comfortable to hand-hold. The tripod collar isn’t removable. There isn’t a AF limiter switch like is often found on higher end telephoto lenses. This has sometimes a little frustrating. The lens also lacks a mode switch for the image stabilizer and instead depends on an auto-detect for the camera to automatically determine the AF mode needed. It generally works well but sometimes I found that the stabilizer sometimes failed to switch to panning mode when I was panning resulting in a jumpy image in the viewfinder. However, overall the stabilizer is very effective. Overall I have found the lens to be an excellent value for the money and an all around great wildlife lens.

I have used this lens with my R6 and R6 Mark 2, I LOVE these combos. Having that reach of 800mm is fantastic and for an affordable price point (well more affordable then their other offerings with this focal range). The focusing snaps and stays focused on wildlife critters eyes. Now with the F-stop being 9, when fully reached out, it will be a little tedious when photographing in the later evening or a cloudy day. However you CAN lower the shutter speed just a smidge and it wont wobble around too much (plus with Lightroom or your choice of editing software its easy to fix most errors you realize later like brightness and such). Its a bit heavy to carry around but if you don't mind that then you will love this lens. 5/5 and 10/10, would highly recommend!

Team this 200x800 mm lens with R6 mk3 is excellent the focus tracking is superior

This is now my favorite lens. Can see the quality difference using a canon lens. The manual focus over ride works great. Really getting some great shots

This is an incredible lens with incredible value. @ $1899, it's not cheap, but considering that the next level up at 800mm is the RF 800 f5.6 @ $17k this is incredible. Ignore the 1 star review on here as they are only reviewing the availability, which is basic supply and demand and everywhere is sold out right now. You can't blame the lens for being so popular!

This lens focus pt is brilliant, and not heavy at all. For wildlife photography this is the best lens

This is the first lens I've owned, and I bought it for bird photography. I felt I had a good sense of how to use it after watching 2 youtube videos and trying it out in one birding session which was a stakeout of a warbler. The zoom is impressive - seems like quality overall. No regrets.

The lens is great. I am starting to realize all of the opportunities it will provide for creative ideas that I have come up with previously as well as new ideas for images that I did not see before.

One of the best zoom lenses I have ever purchased at a great price at that. The pictures are sharp, and the Lense is quick. I was surprised How light in weight it is.

I use this lens for sports and I LOVE it! I am able to capture shots I couldn’t usually get due to restrictions of location.

This Canon RF200-800 lense is great for this novice. It is a little hefty. I would recommend getting a really good tripod to hold the camera and lense.

I love this lens for my new camera. It’s a little bulky but it has to be for what it is. Beautiful for wildlife.

I just purchased this lens last week through BBY.com. It was shipped in a plain brown box without any packing material to protect it. The box was damaged, but fortunately the lens was still in good shape. I was supposed and disappointed that there was no product box from Canon and no bubble wrap or other protection for an expensive lens. So far I like the lens quality but I will consider other outlets for purchase.

This lens was available on this Best Buy site. I payed for the lens and Best Buy claimed they were packing it to ship to my address. After one month, Best Buy automatically canceled my order. Best Buy has got to stop this practice.

BestBuy disappointed again (3rd time this year). BB did not deliver despite ordering within first minutes of availability .... Lens might be great but BestBuy failed to delivery again, they are unreliable, unresponsive, just a disappointment when it comes to newer technology.
