Canon RF 24-70mm
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Canon RF 24–70mm f/2.8L IS USM Review Overview The Canon RF 24–70mm f/2.8L IS USM is part of Canon’s “holy trinity” of RF zooms (alongside the 15–35mm and 70–200mm f/2.8). It’s designed for professionals who need one lens that can handle nearly any situation — from weddings and portraits to travel and commercial work. This lens combines exceptional image quality, fast autofocus, weather sealing, and image stabilization in a versatile zoom range. --- Key Specs Mount: Canon RF Focal Length: 24–70mm Maximum Aperture: f/2.8 (constant) Minimum Aperture: f/22 Stabilization: Yes, up to 5 stops (cooperative IS with R5/R6/R6 II can reach ~8 stops) Filter Size: 82mm Weight: 900g (1.98 lbs) Weather Sealing: Yes (L-series standard) --- Image Quality Sharpness: Incredibly sharp from edge to edge, even wide open at f/2.8. Color & Contrast: Typical Canon L-series rendering — rich, vibrant colors and great microcontrast. Bokeh: Smooth and pleasing, especially at 70mm and close focusing distances. Distortion/Vignetting: Noticeable at 24mm (barrel distortion and slight dark corners), but easily corrected in-camera or in post. --- Autofocus & Stabilization The Nano USM motor is nearly silent and lightning-fast — excellent for both stills and video. Dual Image Stabilization (lens + IBIS) provides outstanding handheld performance, even at slower shutter speeds. Focus breathing is minimal, making it great for video shooters too. --- Build Quality Solid, premium feel with full weather sealing. The control ring (customizable for ISO, aperture, or exposure comp) adds real convenience. Zoom ring is smooth and well-damped. --- Best For Weddings & Events: Perfect all-in-one lens for portraits, group shots, and candid moments. Travel Photography: Covers wide to short telephoto with pro quality. Video: Smooth AF, minimal focus breathing, and IS make it a strong choice for hybrid creators. --- Pros & Cons Pros Stunning sharpness across all focal lengths Fast and accurate AF Built-in image stabilization Beautiful color rendering Excellent weather sealing and build quality Cons On the heavier side (~900g) Expensive (~$2,300 USD retail) Some barrel distortion at 24mm --- Verdict The Canon RF 24–70mm f/2.8L IS USM is arguably the best general-purpose zoom lens in the RF lineup. It delivers pro-level performance in every area — sharpness, color, AF speed, and reliability. If you shoot weddings, portraits, events, or travel professionally, this lens is a must-have. Rating: 9.5 / 10 Verdict: “Workhorse lens that earns its place in every pro’s bag.” --- Would you like me to compare it directly with the RF 24–105mm f/2.8L IS USM Z or with the RF 28–70mm f/2L USM? Both are popular alternatives for similar uses.

Everything you need
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This lens is everything you need as a photographer/videographer. The wide aperture creates a nice silky bokeh as well as being perfect in low light scenarios. The zoom range is everything you need in a daily shoot. Only complaints I would have is that the lens is heavy and expensive. With premium glass, it is expected that the lens would be heavy, however this blew me away. No matter what, getting quality photos from a lens like this one is going to be expensive, therefore this complaint was expected. With that being said, i rate this lens a 5/5 due to the only complaints being of what I already knew I was going to get. Great lens!

Worth every penny
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Heavy to carry around, but the sharpness, color quality, and bokeh are fantastic and more than make up for the weight. Also, the F2.8 constant aperture make this lens very nice for low light, especially with the IS you can get sharp photos handheld down to a full one second. And I'm 71 years old - handholding at one second is just unheard of for me. Love this lens. The focus is almost instantaneous, even from far to near it happens so fast it simply snaps into focus with no hunting. Just bang on immediately. Only negative is the weight, but if you can handle that the rest of the pros about the lens far outweighs that.

A Versatile Powerhouse
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In the realm of photography, the quest for the perfect lens can be a journey filled with compromises, but every so often, a lens like the RF 24-70mm comes along and changes the game. Having had the opportunity to test both the RF 50mm 1.2 and the RF 24-70mm, I can confidently say that the versatility of the zoom and the inclusion of image stabilization (IS) in the RF 24-70mm far outshine the allure of the f/1.2 aperture available in the prime lens. The RF 24-70mm is a testament to the advancements in lens technology, offering a range that is perfectly suited for a multitude of scenarios, from sweeping landscapes to intimate portraits. The zoom capability ensures that you are prepared for any photographic opportunity, making it an indispensable tool in any photographer's kit. The addition of IS further elevates this lens, allowing for sharper images in challenging lighting conditions without the need for a tripod, a feature that the RF 50mm 1.2 lacks. Sharpness is a hallmark of this lens, with images coming out crisp and detailed across the entire zoom range. Whether you're shooting at 24mm, 70mm, or anywhere in between, the RF 24-70mm maintains a level of clarity and detail that is truly impressive. This sharpness, combined with the quick and consistent autofocus, ensures that you never miss a moment. The autofocus performs admirably in a variety of lighting conditions, locking onto subjects with speed and accuracy that is essential for both fast-paced action shots and serene, composed landscapes. Durability is another standout feature of the RF 24-70mm lens. Its build quality speaks volumes about its ability to withstand the rigors of daily use. The lens feels solid in the hand, and its construction instills confidence that it can endure the demands of professional use and the occasional accidental bump or scrape. This durability, coupled with the lens's optical performance, makes it a reliable choice for photographers who demand the best from their equipment. In conclusion, the RF 24-70mm is an exceptional lens that offers a compelling combination of versatility, image quality, and durability. While the RF 50mm 1.2 has its merits, particularly in low light conditions and for achieving a shallow depth of field, the practicality and range of the RF 24-70mm make it a superior choice for photographers looking for a single lens that can handle a wide array of situations. Whether you are a seasoned professional or an enthusiastic amateur, the RF 24-70mm is a lens that will not disappoint, delivering outstanding images time and time again.

My favorite lens
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve been using the 24–70mm lens for my photography business, and this thing is a BEAST. The image quality is incredibly sharp at every focal length, and the colors come out clean and vibrant. Autofocus is fast, accurate, and reliable—even in low light. What I love most is the versatility: I can shoot portraits, events, weddings, landscapes, and behind-the-scenes shots without switching lenses. It handles everything. The build quality feels solid and professional, and the stabilization helps keep shots steady when I’m moving around. If you want one lens that can truly do it all

Spicy price but is so nice
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The speed of the RF focus system lenses to bodies is awesome. The sharpness and quality of the lenses are amazing but the price is eye watering. If you do professional work and will make the money back. I can highly recommend this. If you do professional work but don't have the money to throw around quite yet on lenses. Go for a Sigma 24-70 2.8 + the Canon EF-RF adapter. You cannot go wrong with that combo. Especially if you use the Canon EF-RF with the drop in filter adapter! Otherwise this is an amazing lens.

Super great and Super expensive.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the best Canon 24-70 you can get. The auto focus is quiet enough for video and the IS is amazing. I had the Tamrom 24-70 VC non-G2 and am comparing the two. Obviously the RF is better. The Tamron did not work well doing video and was too loud while autofocusing during video. Now I took off one star for the price. It's just not THAT good. I also preferred this lens over the 28-70 due to the price and weight since I want more versatility. Let's hope Canon doesn't raise the price of this one even more!

Great lens, always on my camera!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Amazing image quality, rugged and durable build, and very easy to use. The lens has a very solid feel, right down to the focus and zoom rings. They turn with just the right amount of effort. 24-70 is a very versatile focal length and the 2.8 aperture is fast enough to perform well in low light environments. Only a few things hold this lens back from perfection: the annoying mount-side lens cap, the aperture size, and the price. The RF lens mount-side lens cap standard is frustrating. There is only ONE way for it to slot onto the lens correctly and it is very hard to find while you’re balancing another lens or your camera in your other hand. The other two issues are considerations that always come up. Of course if I could have this lens in F1.8 it would be better. Additionally, if it was cheaper I would be happier too, who wouldn’t? To summarize this lens is great, if you can afford it you won’t regret it. This lens is an apex performer that is a must for professional photographers using RF cameras.

Lens to do it all (almost)
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The lens is really amazing. The range from 24 to 70 may be underwhelming compared to the 24 to 105 but the f2.8 on this lens versus the f4 really sets this lens apart. It can be used for pretty much any type of photography and the f2.8 plus ibis in higher end rf cameras make the combination able to be handheld with ease. Frankly, I don't see the 28 to 70 f2 being worth it in comparison especially in regard to price. The only real down side is the limit at 70... But that's what the 70 to 200 exists for! Hope your wallet can handle it!

My Everyday Workhorse!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ My Everyday Workhorse! The RF 24-70mm f/2.8L is the gold standard for everyday shooting. From crisp wide shots to creamy portraits, this lens never leaves my camera. Tack-sharp, fast autofocus, and incredible image stabilization — it handles low light like a champ. Built like a tank, but smooth as butter. If you can only buy one lens for your EOS R, this is the one!

Excellent lens if you can afford it.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's expensive, but if you've ever own the EF 24-70 F/2.8 you'll immediately feel the premium materials on the RF version. Not only that but you won't need an adapter to use the lens on the R or R5/R6 bodies or even the C70 cinema camera. It's sharper than the EF version and the added functionality of the front dial make it a great lens. Having IS on a Canon 24-70 F/2.8 is pretty amazing with over 5 stops of shake reduction (or more if you enable the camera body IS).

A must have in your kit
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a beautiful piece to have in your kit. The versatility and qulity of this lens is the reason its on my camera most of the time. Great for portraits , product shoots and landscapes. If you had to have one lens to invest in to start your collection, this would be it. However, do research on the focal length that you feel you’d need the most in your genre of photography.
