Upgraded to the RF version to pair with a R5 camera. Very happy with the new version. Much lighter than the EF version and got to reuse the filters as the EF version was the same size. Images are very sharp and am happy with the upgrade.

This 70-200 2.8 is not my favorite! Because of the external zoom, the throw from 70-200 is incredibly long and you have to crank your arm ridiculously far to zoom in or out. As a professional wedding photographer it's not awful but I couldn't imagine doing something with fast moving objects such as sports photography with this slow lens.
Canon's newer Z series solved with problem with a longer lens that is internal. It may be listed as a heavier lens but the weight distribution makes it feel much light and easier in the hands. The Z series also is compatible with the 1.4 and 2.0 Canon extenders if desired AND the new Power Zoom!
I highly recommend the Z but if you don't care about the new features, this 70-200 is beautiful and pretty sharp. The IS makes it nice for hand held video. While it's not listed as a macro-lens, the zoom allows you to get some pretty beautiful nature or detail photos.

Came from a EF 70-200 2.8 IS II, and was expecting this lens to be better...it is not. The motors are loud and are picked up in audio, the extending lens makes me doubt weather resistance and makes tripod balancing a headache.

I love this lens! I use it mostly for concert photography my my Canon R6 Mark ii and my R5. It is fantastic and crystal clear. It focuses with ease and I just can’t stop raving about it. I also have the Canon RF 28-70 f2 and this one is such a great addition to my gear. I anticipate using just as much, and if not more than my other lens.

such an awesome lens (sharp yet buttery bokeh) with its compact body. I love how it works with EOS R. The EOS R body has not unlocked the lens' full potential. I'm looking forward to buy the next generations of RF mount bodies to work with this lens

Hands down this has been my favorite lens I’ve picked up from the RF family. Pictures taken are high quality and the size of the lens makes it easy for transport.

Excellent lens.5 stop IS is a big plus for picture taking and video. The 2.8 Aperture gives a nice backround blur and the pictures are incredibly sharp.

If you are using a canon r5 or r6 this is a must have lens. I was using the canon adapter with a Ef lens and I was a noticeable difference once I switched over .. sharper and fast

Best lens so far for the zoom lense 70-200mm line.
I came from EF 70-200mm. Using R5 with that and the adapter was a good one but size wise and weight. A bit too much. This RF lens is really a match made for Canon R series. The size and the weight is compatible with and Gimbal. Just don’t expect that it’s a same build like the EF version but over all performance, Autofocusing is very accurate and fast.
So whenever you buy this. Take consideration of where and how you’ll use thi coz EF version can still deliver.
