It's wonderful to own because it still works with software I've owned for 10 years on apple imac.Alot Of cameras are so pricey you can't find any deals This one was $300 and does everything I need it to.

The size of this camcorder is perfect. Fits in my current camera bag and the black model matches my Canon DSLR. Nice weight. The strap is accommodating for those of us with big hands. The first charge took a few hours but subsequent ones have been only 30-40 minutes. Internal battery is a nice feature. Now I don't have to worry about remembering to take out the battery to charge it, I just charge the whole device. Recording is super easy on this. Just point in a direction and press Start. Video/audio playback on the device is clear. No distortion or anything like that. Transferring saved videos from my SD card is simple and the resulting files play and sound well on my computer. I particularly like the zoom and face-tracking feature on this model. Video was very clear from a cookout I attended and I was able to catch a lot of detail without having to keep changing recording locations. Haven't had a chance to test the waterproof feature. I'll have to get to a pool sometime this Summer to see how that works out. The options on the screen are very intuitive. The only thing I wish it did have was 4K video, but for the price point and the other features it has, I'm not disappointed. I recommend buying a nice sized SD card to store your video on. I bought a 128GB one from BestBuy when they were on sale.

I had never used a camcorder before. Purchased these 1 as an open box item. Works great and is extremely easy to use. I only use it once a week to film football games and it does a great job

This camera is perfect for family vacations and people who like to "adventure" (backpacking, hiking, kayaking, white-water rafting, mudding, etc) or anything around water. The Vixia HF W10 is a sleek design, low profile and easily fits into almost any bag (including purses, and small fanny packs). The biggest PRO for this camera is that you can use it underwater, which is perfect for in and around the pool or the beach. It has 8GB of built in memory and fits additional memory cards for even more storage on long trips. I get about 120 minutes of recording time on a single charge and the battery is built in, so no protruding rear battery to worry about. It charges with a standard micro-usb, making it super easy to find a place to charge no matter where you are. Oh and I almost forgot, it has facial recognition auto focus! This is an amazing feature for filming children running around playing. My only con for this camera is the stabilization, well the lack of it. It does have an electric stabilizer but it seems to work best when zoomed all the way out. The 40x optical zoom is incredible for filming from far away, like mountains, sunsets, wild life but you will have a hard time keeping steady. However, for this class of camera its tolerable / borderline acceptable. Hands down the easiest video camera you will ever use, perfect for family vacations and adventurers/outdoors people.

Review: Canon - VIXIA HF W10 Waterproof HD Camcorder – Blue The Canon - VIXIA HF W10 Waterproof HD Camcorder – Blue is a lightweight, compact video camera that is designed to be shockproof and waterproof for basic consumer use. The device fits right in the hand, and is pretty small, and stable with a hand strap that keeps the device nestled in your palm. Out of the box, the device comes with pretty much anything you need. It has a small lens cap, a hand strap, an integrated battery, and 8 Gb of onboard memory. I would suggest you add a high capacity SDXC card and get a small camera bag for storing your device. Otherwise you are good to go. The onscreen controls are pretty easy to work, and the camera is relatively simple. The access doors are maintained a bit tight to keep out the moisture, so I had a challenge at first opening the door containing the card slot. The camera comes with power adapter, usb cable, core filters for the cables, lens cap, and a basic printed manual. The provided documentation is basic but gets the job done. Be prepared to check online at Canon’s website if you need more information. I was able to get up and running with just a little effort. The camera comes with one SDXC slot, so keep an eye on your usage availability and keep an extra SDXC card or two handy if you are taking this on vacation. Since the battery is integrated, there’s no option to keep extra batteries; you just need to keep an eye on battery level and charge overnight using the provided power cable. From what I can tell, the camera turns on as soon as you open the LCD display door. There’s a nice big “record” button right where your thumb can toggle it on or off. You can shoot still pictures off the video camera feed by tapping an on / off button. For downloading video, I found it easiest just to record directly to SDXC card, then pull the card and insert it into my laptop for downloading. To me this makes the device simple to use both for the kids and your more senior adults. The 40x optical enables you to get close from far away for your kids stage plays or sporting events. The zoom controls enable you to get right up there. Stabilization works as you’d expect on a consumer camcorder. The specifications say waterproof to 5 meters, and shockproof to 1.5 meters. I will admit that I did not test either of those features. However, by having those qualities as part of this camera, I am more likely to designate this as a camcorder for my 10-year-olds and under to use. My kids love taking videos, and have made such with their other very cheap electronic devices, so they will be more than happy to have this more sophisticated camera option available to them. The Vixia HF W10 is a simple to use video camera that provides Full HD 1080. It will be good in the rain, or in the splash zone at the local water park. The Vixia HF W10 provides for connecting to a standard tripod as well, so you can set up a stationary position for recording your kids stage plays or presentations. I checked the latest pricing and the cost seems right for this compact device. It’s good that the manufacturers are trying to keep camcorders relevant as everyone has a very basic video camera in every smartphone. However, this Canon Vixia HF W10 seems like a decent all-around option for your kids or seniors to use for capturing those life moments in higher quality.

Canon - VIXIA HF W10 Waterproof HD Camcorder - Blue Pros: I like the blue color option, very pretty. It's small, lightweight and waterproof making it handy for filming in rain, snow, in or near the pool, beach or lake. It has 8 GB of internal memory so it can be used out of the box, an SD memory card can be added for longer filming. Included are the Lens Cap, AC adapter, adapter cable, USB A - Micro type B cable, a small Core filter, and a large Core filter. The colors are vivid. The touchscreen is reactive, easy to use. The menu is easy to understand. Cons: Stabilization is not great when zooming in and out. Trying the different settings didn't improve it. Every sound is picked up and loud. Pressing buttons, zooming in and out, just your hand moving comes in loud and clear on the video. Annoying! Not for left-handed people. The camcorder can be held in the left hand, but the menu does not adjust so it's upside down. Even if you're not left-handed you probably want to switch hands if filming for long periods of time. The more detailed user guide is online. My phone takes great video with better stabilization, no sounds when zooming in and out and will adjust to the hand I'm holding it in. The only thing this camcorder has over my phone is that it's waterproof so I don't have to worry about it getting wet, falling into the water and could be used to film underwater if I were to want to. It's not a bad camcorder and it's nice to be able to film in and around water without worrying about damaging the device and video/photos which my phone can't do and that makes it handy.

I haven’t had it long and have recorded a few videos. The picture quality is great! I haven’t had the chance to use it underwater yet but hopefully next spring.

Bought this for my daughter for Xmas, it was purchased as out of box, no in box in stock, camera seams to be very durable by the feel, touch screen is a plus and very easy to understand the functions, my daughter has killed many electronics by water, sand and other debris, I am confident this camera will last.
