As with all the new Marvel movies, this one is a hit. Great blend of action, drama and comedy. As a kid I enjoyed the 70's tv adaptations so it was wonderful to be able to enjoy the updated Captain America as an adult. Definitely a must see!!!

Glad I finally own this one! Has one of my favorite scenes in all of the MCU movies... elevator scene at SHIELD headquarters. "Before we get started, does anyone want to get off?". Great fight scene! Cap is one of my favorite characters, after Ironman.

When I first seen this in the theater. I did not expect the story to be so good. The Russo Bros did a fantastic job with the story telling and action in this film. It did not disappoint. I was so happy when the movie FINALLY came out on 4K.

Better than the first, and the best since Avenger

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is not only a great sequel but perhaps the best standalone Marvel Studios film to date. Trust me, I don't say that lightly. I wasn't overly fond of the Captain's first feature, and my reaction to most of the Marvel Studios films has been mixed. With that in mind, coming out of the theater I have to say 'The Winter Soldier' isn't only a great superhero movie, a great standalone Marvel Studios film, but that Captain America: The Winter Soldier may even be better than The Avengers! At the start of the film Steve Rogers (AKA Captain America) is still acclimating to modern life after having been frozen since WWII, and is working under the orders of Nick Fury and SHIELD. Already having doubts about SHIELD's motives and methods Rogers suddenly finds himself at the center of a conflict festering at the heart of SHIELD and must fight alongside other agents to stop a villainous plot to establish a new world order. Along the way he'll have to face a dark figure which may be connected to his past and decide what freedom truly stands for. The Winter Soldier is arguably the smartest Marvel Studios film to date. While still providing the fantastical set-pieces, humor, and over the top action spectacles one would expect from a Marvel film The Winter Soldier's antagonist is grounded in real-world fears, and possibilities. For this reason I felt more invested in the film's action than any other Marvel film to date. While movies like The Avengers and the first Iron Man were fun superhero romps The Winter Soldier actually feels like it is addressing real-world concerns regarding government secrecy and drone warfare in a way which made me feel invested in the characters, and the stakes they were up against. The decision to make it an internal, spy-movie type struggle also quelled any questions like "Where the rest of The Avengers?!" While that constantly bothered me in Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 I never asked that during The Winter Soldier because the nature of the villain makes it believable that most of the film's events are covered up and kept from the other heroes' knowledge. Then there's Rogers himself who truly defines himself as a superhero in this film. In his first outing and The Avengers Captain America always seemed like a wet blanket, coming across as a giant flag draped Boy Scout. While he was likable enough he never warranted in-depth analysis. That all changes in The Winter Soldier. Here Rogers' reflects on his past, question his own values and whether or not he can uphold them in this cloak and dagger modern world. He is a fish out of water and he knows it. His commitment to remain true to the values that carried him through WWII becomes his character's greatest strength rather than holding his character back. Through clever writing, and tender character moments The Winter Soldier transformed Steve Rogers into quite possibly my favorite character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (sorry Tony Stark). What ultimately sets the Captain's new adventure apart from other Marvel Studios films is that The Winter Soldier is the first standalone Marvel movie since the original Iron Man I've felt actually stood proud on its own two feet. It features everything we know and love about this universe without feeling burdened by references other Marvel Studios films. While Iron Man 3 and Thor: The Dark World had me saying "Can't wait to see the next Avengers" The Winter Soldier had me leaving the theater saying: "I can't wait to see the next /Captain America/ movie!" For this reason I am giving my full recommendation for Captain America: The Winter Soldier!

As someone who normally doesn’t enjoy Captain America, this movie blends political intrigue and deep rooted spy nonsense with a thrilling and exciting plot. Great fight sequences and a very good winding storyline. One of the best MCU films.

The steelbook case is nice. The movie is great. The 4K transfer to disc is great. Make sure you redeem your digital code on Movies Anywhere otherwise you may not get access to the 4K version of your movie on the streaming platforms.

The movie itself isn’t true 4K. The picture and sound quality is improved. If you have a the right equipment and set up its worth a purchase. If you don’t have anything to really make the picture or sound pop then stick with the blu Ray.

I’m so glad Best Buy & Marvel came out with this Cap-centric Steelbook collection. I snatched it right up to add to my “The First Avenger” Steel. And on the plus side: It’s in 4K! Such a cool, vintage motif for this collection. Love it!

One of the best MCU movies there is, housed in a beautiful weathered steel, like finding a relic of the past. Winter Soldier ups the ante for the MCU by merging it with a spy thriller. Every MCU fan needs this movie in their collection.

Possibly my favorite of the MCU films, bolstered by a wonderfully nervy throwback script and solid performances from Chris Evans and Scarlett Johanssen. This 4K upgrade is good-to-great and worth it for fans of the movie.

I loved this movie when it came out in the theater and the Blu-ray was amazing, but the 4K Ultra HD blows it away. The picture and sound are amazing.. The steelbook was awesome. I think the upgrade was well worth the money.

Best of the Marvel Superhero Movies

As someone that grew up in the 1960s reading the Silver Age Marvel supehero comic books, I'm still amazed to see these characters become very high grossing major motion pictures. Captain America along with Iron Man and Thor were my favorite Marvel comics characters. This is the second solo Captain America movie and takes place after the events in the Avengers movie. This film is different from the other Marvel character movies as the emphasis is less on the superhero aspect of Captain America and more on how he analyzes his new environment in a world that has changed while he was in suspended animation for 70 years. Steve Rogers is an honest, straightforward man and very much a member of the World War II generation. He carries his values into the modern world and finds himself a potential pawn of SHIELD, an organization that he doesn't fully trust. He quickly finds himself immersed in the Hydra takeover of SHIELD and doesn't know who to trust. He finally begins to trust the Black Widow and starts to build his own team of trusted individuals that includes former military veteran Sam Wilson. Sam is much like Steve Rogers and the two of them form an immediate bond. Sam brings his own abilities to the team in the form of his mechanical wings that allow him the power of flight. He becomes The Falcon and is the third member of the team that Steve now trusts to battle the Hydra infilitration of SHIELD. A complication of the plan to remove the poison of HYDRA from SHIELD is his encounter with the Winter Soldier. If you've read the comics, you know that the Winter Soldier is none other than Steve's old friend Bucky Barnes. In the first Cap movie, Bucky is Steve's best friend and is already in the Army when we meet him. After Steve undergoes the Super Soldier transformation and becomes Cap, he goes behind enemy lines to rescue Bucky from the Red Skull's stronghold. While a capative of the Skull, Bucky is injected with the Super Soldier serum and eventually becomes the mercenary known as the Winter Soldier. So, now Cap not only has to battle the HDRYA infiltration of SHIELD, but also the Winter Soldiier while attempting to break through the brainwashing of Bucky in order to get him to realize that he is Cap's best friend. There are many twists and turns in this movie and while this is a major part of the plot, there is no shortage of action and the character development is excellent. The pairing of Cap and the Black Widow develops both characters more than in the Avengers movie. There is also one scene early in the movie that provides closure with a major character in the first Cap movie. A nice touch in my opinion. The end of the movie features the typical post credit scenes. One involves Bucky and the other actually sets up two characters in this year's X-Men movie. Stan Lee's normal cameo is one of the funniest I've seen in any of the Marvel movies. This is a great movie and you won't be disappointed in it at all.
