To start off this review, the movie is outstanding, Deniro is at his absolute best in my opinion. Moving on to the picture quality, it is astounding. This movie looks like it was made yesterday. The detail is off the charts and a tasteful layer of grain coats the whole image beautifully. The HDR is bright, punchy, and most importantly accurate. Now for the sound quality. I found the sound quality to be great, nothing to show off but definitely appreciable. Heights are not often used for much more than the soundtrack, but this is not an action packed movie so it's okay. Now for the packaging. This steelbook is very nice. I'm a huge fan of mat steelbooks since they leave no finger prints, and love that the name of the movie is not on the front. The shot of Vegas underneath the actors is the perfect touch, and the facial expressions of those on the cover perfectly captures the tone of the film.
Picture Quality - 9/10
Audio Quality - 8/10
Packaging - 9/10
Overall - 9/10
Highly recommended to anyone who loves movies in general.

The wait was worth it, wow! This is in my top 3 UHD’s, maybe my favourite. I don’t think I’ve seen a more obvious upgrade than this. The cinematographer Richardson’s work has never looked so good. The detail that can be seen through windows, highlights, shadows and white shirts gave my goosebumps. Every sign from restaurants, street signs, buses was easily legible. The detail in clothing, wristwatches, hair, and landscapes is true to life. But the colour, oh the colours... just wow! Dense, vivid and completely natural. The audio is also excellent with lots of air in the HF. It has just the right amount of midrange, never did I miss any dialogue. Music perfectly balanced, mostly front driven. Surround activity doesn’t call attention until it calls for it.
For me, this is about as perfect a home theatre experience I could ask for!

In 1973, sports handicapper and Mafia associate Sam "Ace" Rothstein is sent by the Chicago Outfit to Las Vegas to run the Teamsters-funded Tangiers Casino, while Philip Green serves as the Mob's Hotel CEO front man. Sam doubles the casino's profits, which are skimmed by the Mafia before taxes are paid. Mafia boss Remo Gaggi sends Sam's childhood friend and mob enforcer Nicky Santoro, Nicky's younger brother Dominick, and associate Frankie Marino to protect Sam and the skimming operation. Nicky's volatile temper and Chicago criminal background eventually gets him placed into the Nevada Black Book, and then Nicky is banned from every casino in Nevada. Dominick and Frankie have gathered their own experienced mob crew, and often engage in non-sanctioned shakedowns and elaborate burglaries instead

Scorsese's Vegas Mob Tale Sparkles on 4K

Released nearly 25 years ago, Martin Scorsese's "Casino" had the misfortune of living under the shadow of his previous mob flick "Goodfellas." Not surprising, given the fact that both had scripts written by Scorsese and Nicholas Pileggi, both were headlined by Robert DeNiro and Joe Pesci and both were long, often violent films based on real-life events.
But where "Goodfellas" was a tight, engrossing crime epic that never slowed down, "Casino" is a film that flirts with greatness but in the end eventually comes up short. Don't get me wrong. It's a rock solid film. But at 179 minutes, it is one that features a lot of repetition in its second and third acts. What to drop? A few scenes of domestic strife between Ace Rothstein (DeNiro) and his drugged-out wife Ginger (played impressively by Sharon Stone) and perhaps some of Nicky Santoro's (Pesci) criminal activity could have been lost without losing any of the story's impact.
Universal Home Video has done a great job at bringing "Casino" to the UHD format. It's a major leap in picture quality over the older blu-ray release (which is included here). Black levels, picture detail and color are all handled perfectly here. The audio is fine as well, although I didn't notice any difference over the blu-ray during a brief comparison.

Tremendous cast and superb story line. Martin Scorcese. Excellent 4k SteelBook release of this 1995 crime epic. No matter common theme in earlier films "Mean Streets" and "Good Fellas", Casino stands well on its' own....no need or purpose in comparisons. Very well made film with great musical score needs not apologize to any other 'Gangster' films. It is First Rate, and well worth taking a look at once or twice in 2019. Thanks to Studio, and Best Buy for bringing us this SteelBook for library shelves of fine Cinema.

So what if it follows the same formula as Goodfellas? It gives it a new spin and it still delivers on storytelling, character, and that pure Scorsese touch (it is strong here, fellas). 4k looks bootyful

I know that a lot of people will say that “Goodfellas” or “Taxi Driver” is the best when it comes to Martin Scorsese. While they might not be entirely wrong, “Casino” should not be ignored. It’s essentially a follow-up to “Goodfellas”, telling another mob story from Las Vegas and it too is also based on a true story. Robert De Niro turns in one of his finest performances and it should not be missed by anyone who is a fan of gangster films and Scorsese!

Martin Scorsese is obviously a genius filmmaker and creatively brilliant. With films like Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Goodfellas and The Departed he has racked up such a career defining resume! Casino sometimes gets overlooked but really shouldn’t. It still has all the gangster vibes set in and against the backdrop of a Casino management crew in Las Vegas! The film bobs and weaves with pinashe and you will love everything second of this thrill ride!

The artwork for the steelbook is a good balance of flashy and classy, which is easier said than done.
The actual 4K transfer and HDR added to the film is one of the best I have seen. Everything is more crisp and colorful without looking like new things were added.
The audio is also great if you have the equipment to fully utilize it.
