Catherine The Great Dazzles & Tantalizes!

In this case. Catherine The Great of Russia fits her immense talents like a glove. As she accomplished in her Oscar winning portrayal of Queen Elizabeth II, she easily makes the role of Catherine her own, in a portrait of strength, power, vulnerability, passion and articulate command. I'm sure the screenplay takes a liberty or two with authenticity, but the story of Russia's only female monarch never tires and moves smoothly through Catherine's life to the day of her death. This is a breathtaking cinematic portrait of a great historical monarch, beautifully filmed and cast with actors whose depth and professionalism support Helen Mirren with renown.
