I have a Char-Broil gas grill that I have been using for about 2 years and it is great. I have been interested in a kamado-style grill for some time. As I was researching, I noticed that this grill was not made of ceramic as normal kamado grills are and this is why the price is where it is. Since I am a novice when it comes to charcoal grilling in general, I figured this would be good to try with this grill before spending more than double on one of the name brand kamados. So far, I have smoked chicken wings and a full chicken in it and they have both turned out nicely. I plan on smoking my thanksgiving turkey in it and am pretty excited for that. One other thing to mention: as a previous reviewer mentioned, the intake setup that comes with the grill is made of plastic. I immediately contacted Char-Broil and requested the metal replacement kit. All I had to do was show them my proof of purchase and they sent it right out to me free of charge!

Plastic on hot surfaces of grills = Melt down

Kind of strange for a GRILL company to put plastic in an area of the grill that gets HOT. The bottom of the grill has a black vent tube that travels up from the bottom to the top shelf for venting purposes, which would be a cool idea if this part was made of metal - that way when the bottom of the grill that contains BURNING HOT COALS gets warm, it won't melt the plastic. The engineer who designed this must not own a grill...
