So far it's great. One of the best thing is there are NO icons (never can remember what they represent) ! Outside does get hot, but not as bad as my old one. Really quiet.

When our Chefman arrived it was in a box that was in a box with styrofoam padding so the packing was very substantial. We decided to go all out on the "bar" food for our maiden voyage and cooked up jalapeno poppers, onion rings, chicken strips and curly fries. Not the most healthy options but tasty nonetheless! So far we have only used the air fry option and the cooking guide gives zero indication of how long different foods should be cooked so there was some guesswork involved. We cooked each item individually starting in 5 minute intervals and everything was done to crispy perfection in less than 10 minutes from frozen. We had previously tried another air fryer that was much smaller and found that for our family of 5 it wasn't worth the hassle to make french fries in 4 different batches so we gave up on it. However, the Chefman IQ has plenty of capacity and we are quite pleased with it. I am looking forward to trying the dehydrate function for some more healthy snack alternatives and will update once we have used it some more.

    Very happy

I am very happy with this purchase! Though I probably do not need all of the functions this has to offer, those that I have used have worked well! Love the digital displays for temp and time, the frozen button is a bonus (such as toasting bread straight from the freezer, not having to guess how much additional time). This is my first foray w/air frying, so I may not be using to its full potential yet, but I like what it does so far. No annoying ticking sound from the timer. It does take a little extra time to cool down and the displays to shut off, but since I read other reviews and learned this was normal, it is totally fine.

I've been in the market for an air fryer for a while now, but have always had an issue with how small most air fryers are. When I discovered the Chefman Dual Cook, I decided it was time to give it a try. While I don't believe this unit is quite as good as a stand alone air fryer at the specific task of air frying, it does a decent job, and the extra functionality really makes this a great all around option. The Chefman Dual Cook is an attractive looking appliance, clad in stainless steel with a large touch panel on the front. To me, the form factor was a huge selling point; your regular style air fryer is frankly an eye-sore and takes up a lot of space for very little cooking ability and volume. The usability here is quite good, as well, with the aforementioned touch interface working quite effectively. You also get an absolute wealth of cooking options that I've not seen elsewhere, from baking to air frying, to toasting and dehydrating, this thing really does it all. Additionally, I've also never seen the "Dual Cook" function before either. This allows you to specify two separate cooking phases that run one after the other. I've seen two examples of where this could be used: pizza, where you start on the bake setting and finish with the broil setting, and fries, where you start with the bake setting and finish with the warm setting. I haven't used this yet, but as time goes on, I'm sure I'll think of an application, and having this as an option is great. The one real complaint I have about the Chefman is that the directions leave a lot to be desired. They talk about the basics, and that's it. My hope was that, as other companies tend to do, they would include a recipe book of sorts, giving direction on how to cook some of the staple foods (wings, pizza, etc). No such luck. Thus far, I've cooked a handful of foods using various cooking methods. Onion coated chicken tenderloins on the regular old bake setting turned out well, but one thing I noticed is that this thing runs hotter than your overage oven at equal temp settings (likely due to the size). You'll want to watch the food the first couple of sessions to get a feel for how hot it runs. Chicken wings on the air fry setting turned out pretty good, as well. To maximize cooking efficiency, I decided to try cooking with two layers using the wire rack in the top position and the fryer basket with the baking sheet in the lower position, set to 400 degrees for 20 minutes. This worked decently well; as expected, the top wings were done first so I took those out, served them up, and moved the lower wings to the upper position for an additional 8 or so minutes and finished those off. I'm not sure if this is recommended or not, but it cuts down significantly on the time it'd take to do two separate batches. Overall, they weren't quite as good as wings I've had in other dedicated air fryers, but that could be down to temp/time settings I picked and my double batch scheme. This is a great functioning device, which serves a wide array of functions. For me, the air fryer function is what made me decide to go for the Chefman, but the vast cooking abilities of the machine allows me to add an air fryer to my repertoire, while also simultaneously replacing an existing toaster oven and keeping my limited counter space in tact.

As a toaster it works great and I really like the digital controls. My previous unit was a mechanical dial and it has little pictures to tell you how dark it is, but getting that just right was a pain and you were always just guessing if it was the same as you did last time. Digital is much more precise, and more easily repeatable. The other functions (bake, convection, air fry, etc.) are pretty consistent with other similar units, but again I do like the digital function which helps things be much more precise. One thing I did notice is that on the bake or air fry functions, when the timer is done the unit cuts the heat, however for toast it will make a noise but keep toasting. I’m guessing this is in case your preferred darkness of toast is in between two settings you can let it go longer. However I wish the “alarm” was a louder and more noticeable. I’ve missed it a few times. For those wondering what air frying really means, it just means getting it really hot with direct heat to try and imitate the quick heat transfer you get in frying. In reality it’s a second rate imitation to pan frying (not even really comparable to deep frying), but it is better than baking if you’re looking for something crisper than you get just baking but without oil. To get that effect, this unit moves the fan from the back (like in a standard convection oven) to the top. The air fry function then essentially is broil with the fan on to constantly blow as the hottest air it can directly on your food. This means it only really “fries” one side at a time and it does need to be flipped to get the crispy effect on both sides. Also, it is air not oil so the heat transfer is still a bit slower. Air frying to reheat frozen chicken nuggets, mozzarella sticks, etc. is great. Trying to fry freshly breaded chicken or porkchops results in mediocre results. This is a flaw in air frying as opposed to real frying. This unit is actually as good at air frying as I’ve found in any other air fryer I’ve tried, but if you are thinking of getting this instead of a real oil deep fryer, you are probably going to be disappointed. I also noticed that with the fan on top, the convection bake mode doesn’t work as well as my previous unit with a fan on the side. I’m sure a professional chef could explain why, but they’ve had the option to move the fan to the top of convection ovens for years and the standard is still on the back, so there must be a reason. If you are getting something to be a small second oven and are counting on the convection portion, this may not be for you. The convection works better than normal bake at even baking and avoiding hot spots, but not as well as an oven with the fan in the back, and especially a true convection oven. That’s the tradeoff for the air frying function. I use this mostly for reheating leftovers, making toast and air frying, so its perfect for me and that tradeoff makes sense. If you are looking for very specific/precise convection baking functionality you may be better served by a unit that focus on that, rather than a multi-function device like this one. Overall this is a great multi-function toaster oven that I’m very happy with.

The Chefman Chef IQ Air Fryer Toaster oven is an overall excellent addition to your kitchen--if you have the space for it. If you do, you'll find an excellent product that can replace a variety of other kitchen appliances. In some cases, you may even find little need for your full-size oven. It may be that for you, the large size is more than offset by the number of other appliances you may be able to get rid of. The oven is large and stainless steel in appearance, other than the digital display across a relatively large "forehead" above the oven opening. You won't find knobs or analog timers here--everything is digital and touchscreen. Arrayed across the left side are the various functions, with a large timer/temperature display in the middle. On the right are settings for the dual function (more on that later). The oven's accessories are pretty complete: you get the broiler pan, an air fry basket, two dehydrating baskets, along with the oven rack and crumb tray. The baskets are rated as upper rack dishwasher safe, but alas, the broiler pan and crumb tray are not, so be prepared for the possibility of scrubbing if you get messy. Using the oven is easy--select your function, select your time/temperature, and hit start. There are a lot of options--bake, convection bake, air fry, toast, broil, dehydrate. Choosing toast opens up an otherwise hidden set of indicators for you to choose how dark you want your toast to get, along with a toggle for whether the bread is frozen or not. Toasting was accurate in my usage-I choose slightly above medium and got exactly that, with a precise countdown timer in effect. My other usages--broiling, air frying, and baking--all gave good results. The air fry basket sits up on the broil pan to allow for air to flow all around and underneath the food. Fries came out very well with no oil used. Mozzarella sticks were crispy on the outside and properly gooey on the inside. One note to think about is that there is an exhaust port for (relatively) hot air on the back, so keep that in mind when placing. Another nice additional feature is the dual function capability: you can chain two different operations in the same cooking sequence. Set one, like baking, with a time and temp, and then it can switch to a second one, like broil, to finish off. A nice feature, albeit one I didn't find overly necessary. Overall, I'm a big fan of these sorts of multi-function units. This is large enough to do a 12" pizza or do multiple baked potatoes, so you may not need to heat up your main oven for these larger items. You can also replace a toaster, an air fryer, and a food dehydrator with this one device. So while it's big, if you have the counter space, it's a really versatile piece of equipment. Recommended.
