My fiancée and I went to see this movie in theaters. We didn’t even expect to like it seeing how we are old school Child’s Play fans. But we ended up LOVING it with its new age feel and the fact it’s an AI robot gone bad instead of a person possessing the doll was neat. New fav. Pre-ordered, arrived 3 or 4 days before before the release date, wow!

The most relevant horror film of today's society

While the original Child's Play is a classic I'm happy to report for this remake they completely started from scratch and decided to make a more grounded film based around a Buddi doll who essentially is a smart doll that interacts with your smart technology. This concept really isn't far fetched at all for today's society and throughout the film I actually could picture this doll actually existing in today's society. The creepy thing is just how grounded this concept truly is as artificial intelligence with the likes of Alexa and Siri ringing dangerously close to how Chucky's adaptive learning system works. I truly loved this updated modern take on a horror classic and hope they expand upon it in a further sequel. Highly Recommend

I had been curious about this movie for a while now and finally picked it up on sale. I actually enjoyed this and thought that the updated storyline was pretty good. The original was much more far fetched and this one has a bit more realism into it and I can see how it would appeal to a new generation of audience members. Computers, programming, and artificial intelligence are great prompts for "what if" and fear. While new ideas are presented, the screenplay doesn't forget the original altogether. Not bad at all.

So this reboot definitely went in a more different direction than what originally expected but it actually for me. Not a dull moment and I was entertained for most of the viewing. Of course a reboot is hardly ever superior to the original but it was still fun movie night viewing. Wouldn’t recommend watching it you expect an exact copy as the first cause like said earlier. It is a very different film than what we are introduced back in 1988 obviously. Casting Audrey Plaza was an excellent choice to play the role of Karen Barcley. Gabriel Bateman was also fantastic as Andy. They made a little more relatable in the terms of characters in certain situations as well as the type class of people they are. I personally think the doll design could of used More work and the name of the doll should remained the same but I understand why they did it. That buddi song is still repeating in my head.

Great Blu-ray Release, Movie Not So Much

This is a good Blu-ray release put together by 20th Century Fox, MGM, and Orion Pictures. It only contains a Blu-ray disc and a digital code for streaming on the go. The Blu-ray has quite a bit of special features and the video and audio quality is excellent on the movie itself. It would've been nice to see this get a 4K release for even better video and audio, but this'll do for now.

You’re a fan of Tom Holland and Brad Dourif’s original. I know, so am I. Child’s Play up to The Seed of Chucky are some of my favorite movies. You’re used to the serial killer and voodoo used to make Chucky evil and sadistic. I get it, because I am too.
Aside from the way Chucky looks in this reboot, the story is absolutely so much fun. It lines up with the times, where technology is advancing, yet this specific Buddi Doll is a bit off. Instead of being evil from the start, Chucky learns and develops into a killer. The deaths are great. Mark Hamill did a wonderful job. Don’t knock it till you try it. I was the same way and walked in mad that they even attempted it. But walked out completely entertained and loving it.

Forget what you know about Chucky and get over his robotic design because when you give the movie a chance it's a lot of fun! His backstory is better, his robotic look fits, and while there aren't as many kills, the one that exist are more fun than the original. The movie endears you to Chucky before subjecting you to his mayhem and it absolutely works.

Anyone who knows Chucky, knows he’s the best bud doll that was possessed by the evil spirit of serial killer Charles Lee Ray. However this version of Chucky is not possessed, but is programmed to malfunction. When a factory worker gets let go from his job, he decides to corrupt one of the hard drives in a good guys (or now ibuddy) which just so happens to be Chucky. Chucky learns violence and curse words over the course of the film because his firewall is no longer protecting him from learning all these “restricted” things. After Chucky learns that Andy is being picked on, Chucky decides to use the violence he learns to help Andy, his “best friend” and will stop at nothing to do so.

I was a bit wary about this film, having thoroughly enjoyed the original but the new twist works very well. Andy and his mom have just moved to a new place and Andy hasn't got any friends there. Andy's mom gets a Buddi doll as a return and brings it home for him The doll is a technological breakthrough in robotics and AI and learns new things from the moment it is turned on. At first Andy thinks he's too old for dolls but doesn't want to upset his mother. He soon starts having fun with it. Naturally, that's when it hits the fan. Mom's new boyfriend has a cat that is not nice and it scratches Andy. Chuckie wants to teach him a lesson. It's all downhill from there.

This ain't the Chucky we know from the 90's. Now with Wi-fi internet ability, sky is the limit for this killer doll. It is hard to do re-makes, but this movie does not disappoint. It is nice ti see a fresh take on this franchise. This movie is definitely a buy!

I thoroughly enjoyed seeing this movie in theaters.
When I got the film for in home I got to relive and enjoy those thrilling moments.
Not too scary a bit thrilling, yet still a good cheesy summer flick.
It’s chucky it’s just a fun reboot:)

Mark Hamill voices this new iteration of Chucky. Hardcore fans are probably fine with the continuation of this storyline even though it's not connected to the previous movies. It's a reboot with a much lighter feel -- and it's sleek, too.

4 stars because it wasn't scary enough. That being said, It had some moments that would have you squeezing your toes. Funny and interesting and not just a remake of the original. It changed the story a lot. I'll watch it again

they did a great job of putting a 21st century twist on this franchise. better than the possessed doll, using modern technology and the ability to learn, artificial intelligence was a very smart twist to make it make sense

I was iffy about this movie at first with the look of the new chucky. It actually was a decent movie and they made it more up-to-date with current technology. It was pretty entertaining and decent amount of gore.

a version that can be believed much more easy in modern times! this is like a skynet doll set on kill! rather then a processed voodoo doll! I actually was pleasantly surprised how much i enjoyed the modern take!

Kind of a reboot to the modern age with instead of chucky being possessed with voodoo he’s not basically a walking computer gone wrong... a virus if you will. Not bad but it’s new for the series.

This reimagining has everything from blood, gore, and comedy on a twisted take on what makes the Chucky movies so fun to watch. Yes if you are expecting the same story its definitely not it. This time Chucky isn't a possessed doll, he's doll with A.I. and blue tooth connection who doesn't realize what he's doing is wrong, he just wants to protect and play with his best buddy.

I'm a huge fan of chucky. The cast of this movie was surprisingly good. Of course, I'm partial to Aubrey Plaza, so theres that. The story line is basically a reboot of the original, but in today's world. It is hokey in spots and the whole voodoo aspect was tossed out the window. If they continue the franchise with this story line, I'm not sure how they can make it work.
