This is a classic Christmas movie that I have loved since childhood. If I were to give it a star ranking based on the movie itself, I think I would go as high as 5 stars. However, I am reviewing the Blu-ray version of the movie. I also have the same movie on DVD in my collection. This blu-ray transfer was a big disappointment to me. Either the original source material is in bad shape, or the studio put zero effort into transferring the film to the high-definition Blu-ray format. I tend to believe both scenarios are accurate in this case. Image quality was no better than the DVD version. Big disappointment. They didn't do anything to clean up the image. Another major disappointment for me was the soundtrack. There's no high-definition soundtrack. Not even a stereo track. You're treated to a bland mono track. Granted it's not an action movie that demands multi channels, but it would have been nice to have at least some stereo sound effects. In short, keep your DVD copy and don't bother with this one-unless you don't have it on DVD already and are looking to pick up a copy to relive your childhood memories.

I love this movie and Best Buy sold it to me at a very fair price.
