Chrome Hounds is a mech-shooter. The story line isnt very important but basically, you're the pilot of a giant mechanized robot (a mech) and you must complete objective based missions with that mech. As you play through the story line you gain your own parts that you can use to make your own, custom tuned mech. This, in my opinion, is the best part of the game. However, other than this the game is rather dull. Combat is very slow paced, as you'll spend half your time lumbering around the battle-field trying to find your enemy. And when you do find them, you just shoot them over and over with one of the weapons mounted on your mech. It often seems that all you have to do is strafe and shoot. The game does incorporate some strategy however. A designated commander can order team mates around, and since mechs often have classes (soldier, sniper, heavy weapons, scouts, etc.) strategy is vital. The game is pretty fun to play, but once you're done, it has little replay value, basically, it gets pretty boring, pretty fast.

Well to say that this is a great Mecha game would be an understatement. First off the game is not as user friendly as say Mechwarrior. The Graphics are ok till you go into sniper mode, then they get a bit lower res. But for the first true standup mecha action game on 360 it isn't a bad game, would of looked better if was released on the original Xbox instead.

Very Slow Strategy Gameplay

The gameplay in this mech game is pretty slow, and the environments are sparse. As a result, it becomes more of a strategic game than an action game. If you want fast-action mechs, look at Armored Core 4.

Multiplayer no longer works!

In 2010, Sega shut down the multiplayer servers for Chromehounds. This means that there is no multiplayer whatsoever in this game -- not even System-Link. The multiplayer was the only good thing about this game, so in my opinion, this game is worthless. Do not buy it.

This game was alot better then it looked like it was gonna be. If you like first person shooters and strategy games this is the game for you. You have to build your own guy so it keeps things interesting.
