i bought this movie download card with the bonus $5 gift cert i received from Best Buy. CinemaNow was over priced for and requires you to set up an account to use the card. Way to many better options. Would've given it a try if there wasn't an account set up needed.

No credit card required - that's a plus. Just create an account and enter the code from the back of the CinemaNow Movie Download card. This works the same as the iTunes cards I purchase for my iStuff. Not a huge selection of new releases, but CinemaNow gets the new releases sooner than NetFlix - and NetFlix does require a credit card. One drawback with CinemaNow for me: Some new releases are only available for purchase, but not for rental. Hopefully this will change in the near future. All in all, there is a decent selection of movies to rent and no inconvenience of driving to return DVDs.

I bought the $25 gift card. Activation of the account at the website was easy. When I punched in the pin number of the card to activate my account, I got a not valid, used card message. Not a great start. I did a live chat with customer service of CinemaNow and got my card activated in less than 5 minutes. No problems afterwards. Not too happy that I had to go through that but it was fixed and is working.

You instantly receive your credit via e-mail. Use it on the web site, depending on the amount of credit you purchase. Their library is consistently updated with new released movies and current television seasons.

CinemaNow is a decent rental on demand service, HD movies look and sound great when played back through my Samsung Blu-Ray Player. I would like to see more options for HD rentals, but there are other services which I use as well. The gift card was received as a free bonus when I purchased a Blu-Ray disc. Otherwise, you can pay for rentals directly through your CinemaNow account using a credit card, etc. I would like to see options for discounted cards, such as a $20 card for $15, giving me one free rental.

I have a very large DVD collection, about 1000 movies all purchased from Best Buy. Earlier this year I was at Best Buy inquiring about storing my collection. I was given several costly option when the Representative told me to Cinema Now advising I could purchase future movies and build a digital collection which would be stored in the cloud. I went home and reviewed the Cinema Now site and was pleased that I could purchase movies and have unlimited access to them, any time/anywhere because they would be stored in my personal library. Plus the fact that they were affiliated with Best Buy I could not go wrong! I started purchasing movies and was very pleased with the results. I have a smart TV and several smart devices with the Cinema Now app on them so this was very convenient for me. I recently went to watch a movie on Cinema Now and realized it, along with 6 other movies, were missing from my library. I called Cinema Now and spoke with a Representative who confirmed the movies were no longer available for viewing advising of a conflict between Best Buy/Cinema Now and the movie companies. I advised I was not informed by either company that there was an issue, both have my email address, and the Representative offered me 7 credits towards future movies. I advised I did want Cinema Now credits since they could not guarantee my purchased movies, and what will happen to the movies still in my library. The Representative could not guarantee my remaining movies would not be removed in the future. At that point I requested a Best Buy gift certificate for the purchased dollar amount so I could physically replace the missing movies, again explaining I am an avid movie collector. She advised she would refer the issue to her Technical team and I would get a response within 72 hours...this was on 9/28. Today I followed up with Cinema Now and had to take my issue to the management level. I am not asking for my credit card to be refunded, I feel my request for a Best Buy gift card is fair because it's going right back to Best Buy and I can get my movies back......Waiting ANOTHER 72 hours!!

the card is a good idea especially when giving as a gift. It can keep you CC off the internet. The hard part is registering and staring an account. ended up with two (playstation somehow does not communicate with cinemanow) and there is a difference and two different log ins with cinema now and bestbuy. confusing. Make sure you redeen on an account you can remember and note how opened.

Best Buy CinemaNow 'requires' credit card information to activate CinemaNow Devices such as Blu-ray players. This policy should be updated to allow CinemaNow Download Cards to be used to Rent movies. PS3 or Amazon gift cards might be a better choice.

I only bought this card because my Best Buy Rewards were going to expire. .. But I had fun choosing and renting movies .

Like others who have reviewed the CinemaNow offering, I have found that when you experience a problem, you stand very little chance of getting it resolved. In my experience, they have a way of "disconnecting" or abandoning your chat, phone call, or e-mail messages, especially if their first attempts to fix do not work. You will have some problems if you have multiple accounts, and when you need to deactivate and then reactivate devices. I currently have 5 devices activated under the same CN account, and none of them show all my content. Two devices show NO content, although the website lists all of my purchased content correctly. Further, be careful about the disc to digital program. I used the upgrade to HD from standard disc offering ($5), which sounds like a good deal. Then when I went to download the movie to a device, it gave me a message "You have the rights to download this movie in HD, but it is currently unavailable. Would you like to download in SD instead?" I don't know if Best Buy tried to release this too quickly, perhaps in an attempt to slow down the bleeding from sales losses to Amazon, but as a long time Best Buy customer, this is truly sad. I could go on with problems I have had with purchased movies that "the studio has decided are no longer available", streaming problems, etc., and since like many other reviewers, I use Netflix, Amazon, VUDU, and others without problems, it is fairly obvious where the issues lie. But then, I have continued to use the CinemaNow service, haven't I, so perhaps the fault is really mine?
