A solid Criterion release with a great 4k transfer and a ton of extra features.

Orson Wells broke every rule in film making and paved the road for what we see today. Watch the film than watch it with the commentary if you want a great history lesson! A must for anyone in film studies tif you just appreciate a well written story without a bunch of fake looking CGI

A total masterwork…..and film that ages beautifully

This is a great transfer of an already great movie. Loved it!

Im begging to study film. This is where i start. Excellent movie.

Citizen Kane is one of the best landmark films ever made. Techniques used in this film have been used extensively in the years following its release. The extraordinary transfer makes this film look as though it was released just this year! This set has a number of extras that explain the importance of this film. My only complaint is with its packaging. It has fold-out sections that can be cumbersome. Why didn't Criterion use a standard 4K-style case. It just looks too pretentious.

Many have called Citizen Kane the greatest American movie of all time, and with good reason. This is a tremendous film that continues to delight and amaze more than 75 years after its premiere. Orson Wells showed an incredible command of the medium and with the able support of his producer, John Houseman, Wells was able to make a film that displayed to best effect his prodigious talents as both actor and director. This release, in HD on Blu-ray, looks great, with excellent audio quality. Citizen Kane is a worthy addition to any collection, and every cineaste should consider finding room on their self for this piece of cinema art.

The 75th Anniversary version of Citizen Kane is good. The film was shot in 1941 in academy full-frame so it looks odd on modern HD televisions. The quality of the transfer is good but appears a bit soft. Perhaps it the best that the original 35mm photography can provide. The commentary provide incite into this classic. HD classics are mostly all under $10 so they are bargains and good educational resource for would be film makers. It was a groundbreaking film for its time so it's easy to take for granted the techniques that a now commonplace in many films.

It's a classic tale that rings true now even more than ever. Well captured devolution of character, showing a story of power and corruption. I think this movie should be watched and understood by a lot of people today. Uncanny how parallels can be drawn to current day events from events in the movie from 80 years ago.

What can you say...It's Citizen Kane in 4K. I do not know how they did it but they made this 80+ year old film look like it was filmed today. The detail...the textures are amazing! This is the best this classic film has ever looked. All I can say is this is a treat to watch.

Too many people avoid Citizen Kane because they think its going to be chore or homework to watch. Nothing could be further from the truth. Supremely entertaining, at times both funny and moving, its earned its reputations of one of the great films. The disc looks and sounds great, features a fantastic commentary from Roger Ebert, but sadly does not include the fantastic documentary about the controversy surrounding the film that was on the earlier DVD release.

Printed in 2016, this 75th-anniversary Blu-ray includes the following special features: separate commentaries by Roger Ebert and Peter Bogdanovich, interviews with Ruth Warrick and Robert Wise, "Opening: World Premiere of Citizen Kane," and still photography with commentary by Roger Ebert. This is a worthwhile purchase.

One of the greatest films ever made, finally released in HD to Criterion. How could you possibly pass up this amazing set, chock-full of extras about the making of this seminal work of art and then its cultural relevance 80 years later? You can't. So buy it. Now.

I first viewed this classic in film school. Being a 20 year old at the time, I was not into old movies. This film surpasses time. A true classic. It opened my eyes to what it meant to watch a real film, not what Hollywood manufacturers just to make a buck. A real story with real characters.

A great high quality restoration of a must see classic film. The packaging is non standard and the discs can tricky to remove but that takes nothing away from the film itself.

...and I've never once wanted to watch this alleged "greatest movie of all time". There was nothing on the airplane's que that looked remotely interesting so I watched this. It IS the greatest movie of all time. buy it, watch it, if you don't like it give to someone else who's never seen it. It's fantastic.

Some argue that this is the best film ever made and I may have to agree. This is an all time classic movie for the ages. The digital transfer is fantastic. It looks better than ever. I thought the special features could be better and they were not all too different than the 70th anniversary.

Can't really say it's the greatest American film, but it ranks right up there. Tight story, great visuals, cinematic chances in terms of different angles, close-up shots, camera tricks, etc. The perfect film to study on how American filmmaking is done.

This movie is not only a classic, it is a masterpiece in the art of film making. I watch a lot of movies and I review films. I found nothing wrong with Citizen Kane. Everyone should see this one and the transfer to Blu Ray was beautiful.

I do question "Greatest movie ever" though. But to each their own. I will admit that could watch this anytime and I have easily seen it 20+ times. Highly recommended to everyone.
