As a longtime fan of heavy metal and hard rock (going back to the late 70's), I didn't become a fan of Avenged Sevenfold until about 5 years ago. Since that time I've purchased their entire back catalog and feel that City of Evil was their best release. Although it is much more melodic than their first two studio albums, it still manages to be very heavy and establishes their very unique sound.

My favorite CD by Avenged Sevenfold is WAKING THE FALLEN, but I'd still give this one five stars, too. The musicianship on this album is fantastic. There's something on this album for fans of all kinds. This album was the album that introduced me to Avenged Sevenfold, and I am thankful.

Avenged Sevenfold is becoming one of my favorite bands, the more that I listen to them. This is one of their first cds, and the music is just as good, as what they are putting out now.

i've heard most of their stuff to me this is their best work, whole cd just flows, hits hard,not a bad tune on cd

Love the lead vocalist unique voice and the guitar work. Plenty of great riffs, metal chords and speed. Very good song writing.

the musical arrangement is pretty good but I get tired of hearing the voice for some reason after a few songs

This is probably the best avenged seven fold album. It has a lot of great hits and is worth buying for hard rock listeners.

A7X took some chances on this album that I don't think paid all their dividends... Still decent for any A7X fan. Probably my least fav A7X album but still has few must have tracks

Avenged Sevenfold is one hell of a band, and this album is nothing short of brilliant. With shrieking technical riffs, searing vocals and a collection of songs that take you on a journey of hard metal at its best. If you are A metalhead you will definitely dig this album.

I know this band has been out for a few years now, but I never really liked them when they first came out. I recently heard one of their newer songs on the radio and was pretty impressed, so I decided to revisit their older material. After giving this album a couple of spins, I get it now. This album is great and there's not a bad song on it. You won't be disappointed, considering the price as well.
