This is 2025 Game of the Year! The combat system, music, graphics, story, etc. are all amazing and very memorable. This will win GOTY. Mark my words. This year is packed full of great games, but this one, from a new studio, and with a team of 33 people, you can’t beat it. It’s very good. It’s one of those games you can’t put down.

This is a wonderful game. The music, art direction, characters, and story are superb. The story is similar to that of a book you just can't put down. The combat is fun and fast with a parry/dodge mechanic that players will need to master to succeed. If you're someone who is not abfan of turn based games this might be the one to change your mind. Also, Esquie!!

I can't image what could take the place of this as my Game of the Year for 2025. It's a turn-based RPG, but real-time dodging, parrying, and skill boosting demand quick reflexes a la Paper Mario, especially against tough bosses or at higher difficulties. If there's an opposite of generic in regards to video games, Expedition 33 is it. Everything about it is stylish and creative; the world, the story, the flashy combat, the enemy design, the art style, the music -- especially the music, because it sets a tone and enhances everything from emotional scenes to combat to general exploration. The developers at Sandfall Interactive just get it. Maybe hyperbolic, but this has the makings of a modern classic. It may become some people's favorite game ever. I love love loved it.

I’ve played the game for over 40 hours now and it is phenomenal! I’m almost finished with it. Definitely my game if the year so far. Great music, great voice acting, compelling story and awesome visuals. Definitely worth the money.

Who needs triple - A or “Quadruple-A” titles when a small studio can produce a masterpiece like this? Expedition 33 truly shows that the developers poured their hearts into making the game. From the amazing design of the characters and the world, the wonderful voice acting, the fantastic story, and the amazing soundtrack. I cannot praise this game enough. If youre a fan of JRPGs, this game has done a fantastic job at using old school jrpg elements while keeping with the modern touch. Do yourself a favor and buy the game!

This is a masterpiece of what the triple A studios should be producing. The story is engaging and amazing. The sound track is insanely addictive. The price point for the amount of content should embarrass studios pinching every dime they can from micro transactions. Purchased the additive content and the soundtrack just to support the studio for this masterpiece of what gamers really are wanting. If you have any thought you may enjoy it, I can promise you will.

This game is fantastic in every conceivable way. Theres nothing i can say to provide proper justice. The music; aesthetic; story; etc. Is mind blowing for a small dev team of only 30 people, and a musician from SoundCloud. Yes, really. **As mentioned by someone else in a 1 star review, my copy was decimated in delivery. The package looked wet; the case is beat; and the sleeved insert is torn. Ive ordered many games from Best Buy over the years (and understand it may notbe their fault), but this is unacceptable. Id return it if able, but the game is out of stock for good reason.

10/10 game. For $50 you 100% get your moneys worth. Amazing story, soundtrack, gameplay, visuals and so much more. If you love Persona, Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest or any turn based RPG this game is for you.

Expedition 33 is, by far, the best AAA-like turn-based RPG I’ve played since 2007’s Lost Odyssey (& even surpasses it in some ways). I’m not quite done with it (almost), & I can still say that. Actually, it’s been that long since we’ve had a AAA-like turn based RPG, period (Squenix & other AAA million $pending studios can learn a thing or two here in stepping away from action a wee bit in their RPGs, & EVOLVE turn based WITH action instead). Turn based isn’t dead. It can evolve. Sandfall Interactive SHOWS that! This wee little French studio of 30-something people put their passion & love into this game – writing, story, setting, their love of older turn based JRPGs, characters, battle system – all of it, and RAN with it. In fact, I’m very surprised this ISN’T a Japanese studio, because they took their love of older Japanese titles that implemented action into a turn-based battle system, such as Lost Odyssey, Shadow Hearts, & Legend of Dragoon, & evolved it tenfold. It’s a turn based system, with tricky Soul-like attacks that the player must dodge/evade, parry, counter, & let me say, some of these attacks are tricky, especially on some secret bosses. Another thing that seems inspired by a Souls game is when you rest at a save point, your potions are refilled & enemies re-appear on the map, so you can grind & LEARN some of the enemies’ trickier attacks. AND THE MUSIC! All I’ll say is, “Wow.” This is “Nier” caliber orchestra. I can go on and on, but if you love old school turn based RPGs, like Final Fantasy 6, 7, 8, 9 & 10, Lost Odyssey, The Legend of Dragoon, & others, then don’t sleep on this title. This is a one of a kind project that has evolved a turn based battle system. Hail Sandfall Ineractive! You created a masterpiece! I’ve some French in me, & let me say, I LOVE the French culture worked into this game. Gimme some more!

What else can be said about this instant masterpiece of a title, that has not already been said. With 12+ nominations in different categories at the game awards, I really believe it speaks for itself. My long awaited play of Expedition 33 for the first very first time this November truly did not disappoint. This game really is as incredible as everyone made it out to be. The visuals are nothing short of spectacular. With amazingly artistic styles that never compromise on the realism of the world’s and the character’s textures. It’s as if watching A Disney or Dreamworks animated feature with its unique aesthetics, but having that lifelike incredibly graphical fidelity that makes them look like their skin is real, like the fabric on their clothes and the shine on their weapons and tools is real. Like you can touch their surreal world through your TV Screen. This masterpiece has truly innovated the RPG genre, so much so that it will wholly inspire future masterpieces for generations to come. It’s an RPG that everyone can pickup, love and will remember for generations to come. I am truly lucky that my eyes have been able to behold such a beautiful game. It’s a game that I could only imagine in my dreams. And as always that It was a dream come true that I could find the physical copy at such an incredible price at BestBuy. They always make the online pickup process so fast! I can order my game and in less than 30 minutes it was ready for me to pickup! I’ve been buying games at Best Buy for years now and it’s quite simply because they always have the best deals and getting everything I want is always just a click away and in my hands just as quick. They also always deliver on their promises for lowest price guarantees, and have exceptional customer service! which is why I’ve had the privilege of amassing such a great PS5 library!

This game right here is my GOTY!! I’m still in awe that this was a 30 team deal that got this masterpiece done! The story is refreshing, the combat invigorating and I haven’t been bored this entire time. It’s been a while since a game has had my full undivided interest! Can’t wait to see what else this magnificent team puts out!!

If your looking for a turn-based rpg with a compelling story then you picked the right game.While I feel the prologue is a big on the slow side, once you get past it the game is great. Just when you think you have an idea of where the story is going the game throws a curve ball at you. Overall would recommend!

Great game! Expedition 33 has stunning visuals, strategic gameplay, and a gripping story. Worth every penny—highly recommended for RPG fans. 10/10, my game of the year!!

I picked up this game recently for my boyfriend's birthday, per his request, and he loves the game. He told me to give it 5 stars. Graphics are crazy good and game play is challenging but engaging and fun, according to him. I'm personally blown away by the graphics and beautiful scenery. I loved that they had this available quickly despite needing to ship to store for pick up (didn't wanna give away the present by shipping it to our home, so I waited an extra day for pick up but I still got it 3 days before his birthday). I thought the price was great compared to other retailers, so Best Buy for the win!

This really is probably the best turn based RPG I've ever played since final fantasy 7. Great story and music also.

Great Story, Great Characters, Great Graphics! The game has a nostalgic feeling to it

One of the best RPGs I have played. If you like turned based, or action based games, if you are a fan of Elden Ring or not a fan of Elden Ring, I think you will like it. It will probably win Game of the Year.

Great game love every minute so far. Bought two by mistake when rushing to order. Was going to return the other copy and some at BJ’s was helping me put groceries in my car and saw the game and was telling me how much he loved watching his friend play. He had not purchased yet because he want to buy thing for his new place first. We talked about the music and the game. I gave him the copy, it saved me a trip and I know he is enjoying it. Interesting how simple things can bring people together.

The main appeal is that it divorces JRPG storytelling from the JRPG gameplay, and this is arguably its greatest strength as it allows for a much more mature story with adult characters to be told. Paired with its QTE and Parry systems, it makes a wonderful package.
