Acting. Imagine that...acting. Dreyfuss and Garr and the rest of the cast do an excellent job of just that - Acting. It's the storyline, not the special ("special"?) effects along with fine acting that drive this film over four decades later. This film is from a time when movies were in theaters for MONTHS at a time and with good reason. The reason is that a movie was a moment in time, not a blip on your phone or tablet. It was to be watched and shared with family and friends. And yes, strangers. Theater goers. Enjoy this slice of the past with those that share that past as well as those that want to. And the picture and sound of this 4K version? Great!

If you like Morgan Freeman, you'll love him in one of his first roles in this movie!

This blockbuster is now on 4K and so I was glad to get a copy for my collection.

Loved this movie when it first came out. Now even better on dvd. Sound was great.

When it comes to anniversary editions of movies there are few that honors the itself with either giving it an excellent case with additional features or a collection of a franchise with bonus feature not found in other versions. Close Encounters of the third kind deliver it's 40th anniversary by not only including the original theatrical version of the movie but also the director's cut version of the movie and the special edition version of the movie as well. all three version of the movie both in Blu-ray and digital with additional features, behind the scenes, storyboard comparisons and much more all in one reasonably affordable price. If you haven't seen this movie yet or if you want to buy this movie but waited for this moment, I highly recommend buying this 40th anniversary edition of Close Encounters.
