If you're a Sci Fi buff andi it's been years since you 'encountered' "CEofthe3rdK," then do yourself a pleasurable favor and experience it again. Despite having to put-up with RD's possessed schinadigans, you can fast forward through them, sit back, relax, and thrill again to the wonder of their preordained arrival and scientific contact with our most secretive government's latest cover-up. I guess we the public wouldn't be able to behold and 'handle the truth!' BTW, whatever happened to Barry?

Close encounters...what else can you say. Certainly one of Spielberg's best movies, hard to believe it's 37yrs. old. Except for the older model cars and the older TV sets it hardly seems dated. I saw this in the theater when it first came out, and from the first "encounter" when the lights behind Richard Dreyfuss' utility truck began to rise I was hooked. No creepy bug eyed monsters, no nefarious alien plots to take over the world. Just awe and wonder and the feeling of what if...The BluRay version captures it all with the theatrical and Director's cut versions to boot. If you have the DVD think about replacing it, if not go for the BluRay and show it to your kids and grandkids, if they haven't experienced it yet it will blow their minds.

I saw this movie way back in 1977. It was an instant Spielberg classic. A simple everyday man has a close encounter with a UFO, and that begins an adventure that leads to an amazing finale. There are fine performances by Richard Dreyfuss, Melinda Dillon, Teri Garr, Francois Truffaut ( the great French director), and a cameo appearance by Dr. J. Allen Hynek who was part of the original Project Blue Book. The film was filmed, not recorded, and has some of the best VFX ever seen. Remember that there was no CGI at that time.

This was one of the first movies in the genre of Science Fiction I watched and from here I was hooked. Not only on the genre, but this being my first exposure to Steven Spielberg, and once again I was hooked. He is a genius director and this may be one of his first movies, but you wouldn't know it. He's a master of the craft and this is big and brilliant. It's slow if you are looking for lasers and battles and robots, but it is a great movie, a great story, truly a masterpiece and if you haven't seen it you need to. This is my second copy of the film. Definitely recommend!

"Close Encounters of the Third Kind" is everything that you would want in a film. Despite the longer running time, it keeps your interest throughout the entire film. With that being said, however, I was thrilled to discover that a 4K version was being released and immediately jumped at the opportunity. Spielberg really changed the landscape of sci-fi films with this title and the graphics themselves are actually really good for the era too. This best explains why "Close Encounters..." is still quite relevant to this day. It's an instant classic that will probably never get old in my book!

A definite classic for first timers checking this out! Spielberg's epic metaphysical take on faith and religion, and confronting one's reality with something other worldly. 5/5 for sure! For those that have seen this plenty of times over the years, here is my review for the 4K: - Visuals are noticeably improved and sharper, although there is apparent film grain - Picture is much brighter, blacks are smoother

A fabulous Spielberg movie! When I saw it in 1977 for the first time I was fascinated by it. Today it still fascinates me. Dr. Allen Hynek, an expert on UFOs, was Spielberg's consultant on this subject. I had the opportunity of meeting Dr. Hynek in Miami shortly after the film opened in theaters. In my exchange of thoughts with him about the possibility of existence of extraterrestrials and UFOs, my closing question was: "Is there any proof about their existence?". His answer was: "Not one bolt has been found".

Buy this movie it is in 4k and you can really see the details I know that it was shot and less than 4K but the HDR picture is great it is worth the money I paid for it was on sale for $15 and I think it's a steal I although I am a big fan of this movie I would definitely recommend this to someone who hasn't seen it the 4K version is the best version Don't hesitate by this over the Blu-ray.

This is a great Steven Spielberg movie. It's definitely a little slow compared to today's blockbusters, but it's worth a watch. I actually purchased this in the hope of redeeming in iTunes to automatically up-convert it to 4k. Unfortunately, that didn't work since it's a UV code.

These days you can find almost all of your favorite movies on some streaming service. But there are other movies you just want to be part of your permanent collection. This is one of mine. A classic movie by every standard, and worth watching a hundred times. This movie started it all for those that would follow about ET's. Awesome to the core!

Close Encounters of the Third Kind 4K [SteelBook]

The movie itself is a classic, and one of the greatest alien movies of all time. This edition is definitely worth having- the movie looks and sounds great on both $K and Blu-ray, and the pop art SteelBook is a great alternative to the fairly boring and spoiler-heavy regular art (I know the statute of limitations on spoilers has long passed, but surely there's something else worthy of being on the cover art aside from the spaceship at the end of the movie).

When I purchase a 4k/Blu-Ray selection I am often forced to choose a banged up or mutilated bax from other stores or especially in the mail/UPS. Best Buy keeps all their media selection in good condition. The only thing they could change is not placing any labels on the outside jacket. There are some boxes that a person wants to preserve for the great artwork/design features. They could find a different solution for that issue.

I love this film, looks amazing in 4k, some film grain, but not too bad, the audio sounds amazing, especially on the scene where he has a spaceship flying over his truck, the hdr makes the alien ship lights super bright, and the base kicks way up in that scene. If you don’t already own it on bluray buy it on 4k
