Not the worst start for all-in-one cards

The card comes with a little device inside of the box that allows you to plug it into the headphone jack of your device, and through the Coin app, you can swipe some cards (credit card, rewards/points card, gift card, etc) to have it stored onto the device via bluetooth. From the developer's website, it looks to be a rather secure process (both when adding cards to the Coin, and when using it to pay) A lot of places will read the card, some places will have trouble reading the card, which is unfortunately just the nature of both the card itself and the payment terminals used at stores right now. I often will have to ask the cashier ringing me up somewhere to swipe it once more, but to do it either a bit slower or a bit faster. It seems random. Because of that, I still find myself carrying my credit cards with me just in case they fail. If you have the extra money to spend and want a sort of interesting toy, it's not a bad purchase. All-in-one cards aren't quite the "norm" yet so it is nowhere near its full potential.

I didn't pay attention to all the bad reviews this product has because I was really hopping for it to work. It just doesn't work. I contacted technical support and I got no help. The worst 100 dollars I have spent. Save yourself 100 dollars or go out with the wife.

Pretty good for what you get

Useful and convenient. It was an unexpected surprise to see that it accepted gift cards. It doesn't work at all locations but it works at the locations that are most frequented (i.e. Costco, Costco Gas, Mcdonalds) With the app, you can check to see what locations accept Coin, just make sure that you bring a backup card with you. The product itself is a lot thinner and lighter than expected. Although its been shown to be durable, it does seem a little on the flimsy side. I would highly recommend this product to my friends and family, especially those with fat wallets bulging with cards.

This is a great product if you're tired of carrying around multiple credit/debit cards. It's easy to load and easy to use. The only potential issue is that it is not set up for chipped card readers. If you store a chipped credit card and the vender has a new reader things get involved. Otherwise nothing negative to say.

I bought my Coin from the kickstarter campaign a long time ago and by the time I got it they shipped me a 2.0. I think its a brand new product so it's not perfect, I had problems with my first smartphone too. But it does a pretty good job. If you don't expect it to be perfect (what in the world is?) you'll probably enjoy it too. Setup was pretty easy, I had to enter some details like my address, scanned in my cards using the included scanner, and was good to go. Worked most places I tried except a couple ATMs and a restaurant. I think 8 or 9 places out of 10. But the Coin app tells you if a place nearby doesn't work and it's crowdsourced so I marked those spots. Maybe Coin will fix it on the next version? So now I carry my Coin and my debit card, my license and a few $20's. Better than 5-6 cards, the license, and cash.

I got this through the Coin's funding project directly on their website, and it works fantastically at many POSes. Some places may not work, of course, either outdated systems or ones that require Track 1 data, but the Coin truly shines in a place where either swiping or NFC/EMV is the thing. Changing your card up at a press of a button is simple, and the Coin is a great conversation starter, getting people interested and curious about the product. All those other folks who rate the Coin poorly just don't appreciate the capacity that Coin can achieve, or want more than what they asked for/have.

    Great when it works

I like the convenience of having all of my cards into a single device. The coin card is easy to use and convenient when it works, which is about 90% of the time in my experience. There are a few places where it doesn't but most merchants have decent and current point-of-sale devices so this isn't really an issue. I carry a backup card for those times when the coin doesn't work.

    Wallet Saver

I still have the Coin 1.0 version, but am waiting for the 2.0 to be received. In the meantime, though, I feel I'm pretty qualified to review the product, having had it for a long time, since the beginning. Coin, paired with a skinny wallet, has left my back pocket bulge much smaller. I carry one extra card as backup, but Coin usually works fine. I get compliments on what a cool card this is all the time. I see a lot of negative feedback here about bad swipes, but it's just not the case for me. I've mastered the swipe personally; it needs to be a little slower I think than some regular cards. When I see vendors swiping it too quickly and ready to hand it back to me, I politely ask to try again and swipe a little slower; that works 2 times out of 3 if not more. My friends' typical reaction is that "but if you lose it, you'll lose all your cards". Ah, but my regular cards aren't PIN-protected and have their full numbers and CCV written on them. I actually feel much more secure about losing a wallet with a Coin in it than regular cards. I have a few quibbles with the app (needs more card personalization) but overall, Coin is much closer to a 5-star product than the average review here would lead you to believe. If you have any questions about the product or the review, feel free to ask.

I used to carry 4 credit cards, 2 debit cards, a Costco card, a Starbucks gift card. Now I carry one. I thought it was just a credit card but Ive been getting rewards through the app like free Peets when I use the coin. No more wallet butt for me.

I've enjoyed using my Coin. It does not work everywhere, but it works in more places than alternatives such as Android Pay or Apple Pay. I've had a lot of great conversations with people using it, but can also just choose which card to use, swipe, and go. They've added some features on merchant compatibility so that I know where it does not work, but in my neighborhood it works well and I tend to go to the same places. I recently used it on a trip to Hawaii and it worked there as well when I used it a few times. Security features are good and leave you much better off than if you had your plastic cards lost or stolen. If you need something that is perfect and works 100% of the time this may not be for you, but otherwise think it's a good product and really like it.

So far so good. I've had coin for about a week. I've only had one retailer where it didn't work and honestly I think it was user error on their end. It has allowed me to greatly reduce the number of cards I carry in my wallet. The only downside is you need a backup card in case Coin doesn't work.

    A real disappointment

I was an original purchaser of the Coin, which is a great idea. But after several months of use I cannot recommend it. The set up is relatively straight forward. But usage is not. About 80% of the restaurants I used it in could accept the card and even more frustrating all of the cards I entered did not work consistently. So for example, a Visa card would work in one restaurant while it would not in another. I was told by the support people that the servers had to move the card through the reader slowly. You don't need to do that with a regular credit card. And even when I did that myself with card readers, the result was not consistent. I had a bit less of a problem when trying to use the Coin in shops. But having a card fail 20% or more of the time is simply unacceptable. Coin has a tracker app on it so when a card does not work you can note the location for their database. But it failed so often I thought I was working with a Beta product. There are a couple of other devices on sale that claim to be able to do the same thing. And there is always Apple or Google Pay which seem to work 100% of the time.

Coin is awesome. I used to carry a really thick wallet and can now just carry a very small card holder in my front pocket. I keep my Coin, one back-up credit card, my drivers license, transit care and insurance card. It works great, and starts great conversations with people when checking out. I'm really looking forward to getting NFC support for more of my cards.

I reserved mine after the kickstarter had ended. I waited a year before I got mine and it was worth the wait. I have been using it as much as possible and I get complimented everywhere I use it. The only negative is that it will not work with the new chip enabled devices. Otherwise, it works great at all other places.

Coin 2.0 makes me feel like I'm in the future. It is accepted probably 4/5 times I try and every single person is amazed at how it looks and works. I'm an early adopter across the board and I have to say this is one of the coolest things I have added to my life in recent memory.

This is so cool. I loaded all my cards onto it, and now I only carry two. The coin card, plus one backup for those stores with old tech that don't take it. Everywhere I use it, people think it is really cool.

I was an original investor of this card and finally got mine after waiting almost three years. It takes a little getting used to but it works great. When entering cards it will ask for a certain dollar amount that is being charged to your card. What it is asking if you read above this is your zip code for the credit cards. I have not had it not work yet and recommend it to all.
