Reminiscent of the Coen Bros., Jim Mickle's film starts off in dark, vaguely quirky territory & takes a turn for the darker about 2/3 of the way in. It's refreshing to see Michael C. Hall in a one-off role for a change. Don Johnson & Sam Shepard are fantastic, rounding out the ensemble nicely. Joe Lansdale's story is not as far out as some of his that've been adapted to the screen. A very worthwhile watch!

I first read the book "Cold In July" by Joe R. Lansdale and really enjoyed it. Then I purchased the DVD from Best Buy and was very pleasantly surprised with how closely the movie followed the story line of the book ! This one great action movie that focuses on one mans thirst for revenge and another mans need to "do the right thing" even though it goes against his families wishes. Great movie on many levels !!

"Cold in July" holds you in suspense from beginning until the end. The cinematography is dead-on and the way comedy is used gives it much needed relief.

Wow, a great movie. This movie kept making me ask "what would I do it that happened to me?" How would one react. I don't want to give out any spoilers. Enjoyed the movie.

An action, drama, sometimes subtle comedy and humor. This movie is great. Never disappoints each time I watch it. Soundtrack is second to none as well.

This was a blind buy. It was actually really quite good. Interesting, dark and just how I like films.

If you like thrillers this one does not disappoint. It was really fun and a movie I knew little about nor had I heard much.

Film with great sensibilities and throwbacks to the 80's. Strong acting from the 3 leads and stylistic direction.

It's very tense and entertaining story about family.

The story telling in this movie got a bit too disjointed for me and by the end I found my interest waning. It is a watchable movie for one viewing, and a throwback to some B genre 80s style movies, but I just did not feel like it was executed just right. This blu-ray package does not come with any exciting extras.
