I came across this Blu Ray in bargain section at Best Buy. There aren't many special features except for five minutes of promotional materials and a behind the scenes look at the special effects of the plane crashing in Vegas. There is a theatrical trailer but no director's commentary.

One of those great 90s action flicks I watched with my Pops. Even better now because it’s on blu ray and if your a videophile you’ll appreciate this one. Buena vista had some good titles on their blu ray releases and they show on screen. Simple story as an army ranger makes a mistake and pays for it in prison and his drive is to get home to his wife and new daughter he has not yet met. Of course something needs to get in his way as he’s being transfered via airplane and the other bad guys wanna hijack it. Lots of explosions and loud gun shootouts. Just a fun action flick of its time.

This was a great movie, worth owning. It had a great cast, and one of Nick Cage's better character portrayals, Face-off was another. It's a fun movie with some great action sequences, and great characters all around. From the convicts, to the law officers, you'll even find yourself routing for some of the bad guys. It is predictable, but I didn't watch this movie expecting Oscar caliber story, I watched it to be entertained, and I was. It's not the destination, it's the journey, how they tell the tale. You know the bad guys lose and the good guys win, how they get there that's the fun part, and this movie was a lot of fun!

Pure Escapism

If you want to a lot of action and escape the real world for 123 minutes, this movie is for you. Nicolas Cage plays Poe, a U.S Ranger who returns home from overseas, gets into a fight defending his wife, kills one, sent to prison for several years and then paroled. He catches a flight home on a military plane carrying nothing but "bad guys", who are planning to take over the plane. Poe still thinks and acts like a Ranger. The whole movie is unbelievable, but a lot of fun to watch. Isn't that the definition of pure escapism. Icing on the cake is the performance by Steve Buscemi. Nothing more to say, except watch it!

Must have for all Nicolas Cage fans.
The film stars Nicolas Cage, John Cusack, and John Malkovich, with Steve Buscemi, Colm Meaney, Mykelti Williamson, Ving Rhames, Nick Chinlund, Jesse Borrego, Jose Zuniga, and Monica Potter in supporting roles.
Critics gave the film mixed reviews, but praised Cage and the cast performances as well as its action sequences, stunts, and Malkovich's portrayal of the villain.
If you like action- you will like it.

"Con Air" is one of my guilty pleasures. I'm not proud, but I can no longer hide. I simply enjoy the movie. It's a good character-driven movie that is heavy on special effects and bad guys. John Malkovich is outstanding as convict leader, Cyrus the Virus. Nicholas Cage is the convict on his way home to his wife and little girl, but ends up attempting to ground the highjacking convicts. Steve Buscemi practically steals the movie as a "Hannibal Lecter" type character. It's mindless fun, so disengage your brain, sit back with some popcorn and a cool drink and check out "Con Air".

A prison parolee (played by Nicolas Cage) on his way to freedom faces impossible odds when the maximum security transport plane he's on is skyjacked by the most vicious criminals in the country ... led by the infamous murderer Cyrus "The Virus" Grissom (John Malkovich). Buckle up and hang on tight as explosive high-flying action soars to spectacular new heights in this must-see thriller!

Just-paroled army ranger Cameron Poe (Nicolas Cage) is headed back to his wife (Monica Potter), but must fly home aboard a prison transport flight dubbed "Jailbird" with some of the worst criminals living. Along with Diamond Dog (Ving Rhames) and Baby-O (Mykelti Williamson), genius serial killer Cyrus "The Virus" Grissom (John Malkovich) unleashes a violent escape plot in mid-flight. Secretly working with U.S. Marshall Vince Larkin (John Cusack), Poe tries to foil Grissom's plan.

This movie was just a fun time. Not to be taken too seriously and they know it. Cusack however felt out of place but everyone else had this nice characteristics that made the film enjoyable. John M. was great in this and very watchable as a villain. Nick Cage doing his best Nick Cage with a southern accent. Also there is a stuff bunny involved in the story. If you like films like "The Rock" or "Bad Boys" you will so enjoy this. Best Movie Ever out of Worst Movie Ever.

Had not watched this movie in decades, so I got to re-watch it on a blue-ray disc. It is just as exciting and intense as it was when it first came out. Nicolas Cage is at his best in this one. I found the movie to be action-packed with some comedy and captured my undivided attention, even for the second time.
