Customers are saying

Customers consistently note the Infiniti Pro Hot Comb's quick heat-up time and ergonomic design, making it comfortable to use. However, many find the comb less effective for straightening hair, particularly finer hair types, and some have concerns about the tooth spacing. The temperature control is also praised for its ease of use and adjustability. Overall, opinions are mixed regarding its straightening capabilities.

    Right for some

I have tried a hot brush on my course scraggly beard and for the most part it straightened the bulk of my beard, but couldn’t get close enough or detailed to the edges. I was hoping this comb would be better at it, but it’s not quite what I expected. It does get hot fairly quick and you can adjust it with the knob on the side and use the turbo button to make it even hotter. Within a minute it is hot enough to start using, but isn’t as easy as just combing. The teeth are so far spaced apart that there is no tension provided by the comb, so you have to pull sections of the hair tight and run the comb over it. This means the hair has to be long enough to get a grip on and still fit the comb in without burning your skin. It does have some effect with constant combing of areas that you can’t pull tension on, like you may see in my mustache, but not much. However, you can see from the comparison of before and after, it made a difference in just how wild my beard is. This picture is also before I applied any balm to help control the stragglers. This also takes a bit of practice and some occasional burns to remind you just how careful you have to be. Now, it’s top temp claims 345 degrees F, which I have read some suggest 410 for coarse hair, but this also feels more like trial and error on finding what is best suited for you and your hair type. The build quality of this entire comb feels a bit cheap, but I can’t complain much for its price point. The buttons and temp knob just seem in the way as I kept bumping them while straightening and the handle has no grip or texture to it. The stand to keep it off the surface needs the wire to run off the counter because if there is any lift in the cable it tips the hot end into the countertop as it barely has any clearance. Considering the auto-shutoff is 60 minutes, this is something to be really aware of and make sure you turn it off when not in use. Overall, it straightened my thick coarse hair to the point it is noticeable. It takes some practice and possibly some burns to get it just right. If there was a way to adjust the spacing of the teeth, or maybe 3 interchangeable head types, it would make a huge difference for all the different types of hair that it claims it is for.

I got this straightening comb for my wife who has black coarse hair and we believe she is a type 4. she liked that this is a light weight straightening comb with different heat settings, and a turbo heat option to treat tough areas. her notes are that this is comfortable and ergonomic to use, does heat up quickly and easy to use. she complained that the spacing between the teeth was not wide enough and that the teeth themselves are not long enough to keep the hair in between when combing down from roots to edges. but she did say that the results do last a longer time than her go to comb and that she doesn't get hot spots like the other one that she uses. this one is her go to everyday since we got it.

Okay comb and not an alternative for flat iron

Conair Straightening comb is good for straight fine hair types and not suitable for wavy or curly hairs as its advertised. The heat is good at highest temperature set. Heat dial adjustment is easy to adjust. Its very lightweight and plastic feel and not very sturdy. My wife and teen daughter tried for few days and mentioned it wont replace ceramic straighter and are not effective for large sections of hair or for curly hairs as the teeth of the comb are close to each other and doesn’t work as expected. Overall, it’s a good alternative for quick straightening tasks and not a replacement for flat iron straightener.

Due to the texture of my wife's hair, she has to be very selective about the type of products she uses. There was initial excitement regarding this hot comb, but performance didn't meet total expectations. On a positive note, the comb does heat up well after a while, however, the teeth can be problematic. The teeth aren't spaced far enough for a smooth experience. Yet, this comb would do really well for those who wish to use it on styling wigs.

Straightens - but better results with a flat iron

It definitely helps if you have really curly hair, but at least for my hair not as good as a flat iron (see pics.) Followed my standard hair straightening steps of washing, applying Moroccan oil, and blow drying. I found that using the turbo setting on the straightener, which provides more heat, was more useful than the cooler settings, but still did not heat the comb enough to smooth my hair. Since the power and turbo buttons are positioned on the handle of the comb, the grip of my hand and fingers resulted in periodically turning it off. This styling tool does seem to generate some straightening but my hair remained frizzy in the end. It does not come close to matching the straightening and smoothing capabilities of a flat iron. It might be more useful different hair types or as a touch up device. You might have better results if your hair isn't as curly as mine...

    Does not straighten hair

My wife had some high expectations for this hot comb as she is constantly striving to straighten her hair. She has a flat iron, which does a nice job but takes a lot of work. The hot comb promised to both comb and straighten at the same time. According to the chart, she has type 3B hair. It is not even the most curly. She ran the comb through her hair for several passes and it did not even some close to straightening it. She kept raising the temp gauge until it hit the highest, even with the "boost" it still took way too many passes to get it less curly. Please see the photo for the final result. The other bad thing about the comb is that it does not have a guard or safe way to get to the end of the hair strands without burning your fingers. You cannot effectively comb to the end of the hair unless you let go, but you need to keep the hair straight with tension so it can work. But it simply doesn't work anyways, so this is a non issue I suppose.

The first thing to say about this hot comb is that It did heat up fairly fast and got very hot at its highest setting. If you do dial this all the way up, make sure you wear a mitt and be careful of your scalp. If you have used a hot comb before, you know this, so let me move on to the actual use. One problem I had with the comb is that the teeth seem too close together. You will need to be prepared for some wincing if you have really kinky or thick hair. In that case you will want to dial back the heat a bit and go a little slower. This is a decent option for those who have finer hair. The overall quality is a bit better than what you’d expect for a product in this price range and makes it a good option for traveling while leaving the expensive hot comb at home.

I have enjoyed using this straightening comb. I was hoping it was the type to put on the stove top; but this plug in type has not disappointed me at all. I am a satisfied customer.

Good and quick, not the best

With very curly hair, the heritage of her Caribbean ancestors my wife and stepdaughter were very excited about the opportunities of this hot comb. The easy setup selector and the speed in warming the iron were a very promising first step. Her first reaction was positive because the temperature seems to go directly into the hair without burning the tester's skull. Two or three applications in a very curly hair are promising but her reaction is not the best one. It seems that a flat iron could do a better job straightening but it will also require a more laborious process and some more time. So the final conclusion is that could help in an emergency situation to do the final retouches, ergonomics that make easy the process and quick temperature control are positive aspects. The size of the hot comb also allows it to be carried in your purse. Sad that the straightening effects are not the best.

    No Tangling

First thing my daughter mentioned was that her hair didn’t get tangled in it as with other similar products and that she liked the result. That was a very positive and unexpected comment because she complains about this type of thing very quickly. It looked as if she had a lot of experience doing this. As she is just turning a pre-teen in a few days, the quick warm-up is a welcome feature since patience is something lacking already. Although wavy, her hair is not super thick and it goes only to about an inch below her shoulders. I’m mentioning that detail because we both felt that this would have worked even better for longer hair and that thicker ones would require sectioning it off to allow proper styling. For her young hair, the turbo mode isn't necessary but it should be nice for a lot of people. We didn’t get a perfect professional result but it was still good enough and it didn't feel as her hair was being damaged in any way. Else, I would have not let her use it. It is very ergonomic, even for her somewhat small hands. I helped a little because of her age and experience but she might be able to handle this on her own with little supervision. An older person will have no problem.
