So you’re supposed to go through this process Where you expose the area of skin you want to treat and it adjusts accordingly. Yeah, it simply wasn’t doing that so my wife was too afraid to use it.

Review of Conair Lumilisse IPL Hair Remover (White) This is the second time we used one of these consumer grade hair removal systems. The first unit I purchased at a roadshow at my local membership club. After 3 months of use with no measurable hair reduction or slow regrowth my wife and I returned for full refund. When we received this unit we were happy to see it was portable and lightweight for use (previous unit we had was big and had a base to it). After reading instructions I used skin detector and it said I should use level 1. My pigment looks like the first color choice on the box. My wife in between the 2/3 pigment choice (she was detected at level 2). Shaved and good to go I tried it at level 1. I could feel a little heat during pulses but quickly went away. Used level 1 for the first application in the 2 week recommended interval. I used it on my chest and usually have 5oclock shadow next day when shaved. I noticed my thick hair (but not dense in area) was not visible next day. My wife said it is similar to waxing as it removes hair at the root. At application two (2 weeks later), I noticed hair growth in some areas. I went up to level 2...then to level 3. At level 3 I could feel a little zap (like a rubberband) more in some areas I guess more sensitive. For this review I tried level 4 and 5. Not much of a difference in the zap than level 3 but sometimes at level 5 the zap was much greater but tolerable. My wife said the zap at salon with the machine they use is much more noticeable and painful were this one the sensation immediately goes away. My wife used this at level 3 on her underarm region, back of legs, and bikini region. I have seen noticeable reduction of hair and in some spots no regrowth as of yet. Very happy consumers. One thing to note, in some areas I missed at shaving, this unit zapped the hair right off. The room had a salon smell to it (burnt hair). Peach fuzz did not stand a chance. The unit is connected to a huge wall wart with a cable length of about 5 feet. It is long enough to reach all areas of the body without issue. Make sure to clean every session. I use a microfiber cloth to clean out any hair or dead skin particles (yuck). One thing that slowed down the sessions on first use is the unit wouldn't blink green to initiate a pulse. I had to readjust it on the skin then it worked. Very picky at times and not sure why. The second session I was much better at application. I am hoping that long term I will see permanent hair loss in the application areas with the 2 week application interval. I am happy to see slow regrowth for now and hope this is a sign and success moving forward. My wife and I didn't use the face sensor. We really don't have an issue with facial hair. But it is good to know it is there. Pros: -Lightweight portable -Minimal sensation during session -Vent seems to cool unit quickly -Skin level sensor is nice -changeable head is nice for body and face Negatives: -Wall wart is huge but most likely needed for the power draw -No included storage case (been using the box) -No included microfiber cloth to clean unit -Sometimes the unit is doesn't zap slowing down the session -the skin level sensor when applied blocks the vent (but this is a one time thing)

It’s working…Maybe When I unwrapped this gift I was thrilled. Laser hair removal was something I used to do when I was younger, before kids and work ate up all my time. So the idea of being able to knock it out at home had me super appreciative of this thoughtful gift. Reading through the booklet there were tons of warnings about burning, scarring, etc that it did have me a little freaked out. Especially as a skin cancer survivor, anything that could be dangerous gives me some hesitation. After doing a ton of research I decided to give it a go. The first time was a bit terrifying, since it warned that it may be a little painful. Since I have absolutely no tolerance for pain or discomfort, it took some courage to work up that first trigger pull. To my surprise, I felt absolutely nothing! It really is easy to accomplish, but it does take a lot of time to work large areas. Plus, some areas have a difficult time getting the sensor to make full contact. Under-arms and knees always prove a pain. I’ve been using it since Christmas, gradually increasing the frequency as suggested in the manual. After 3 months I definitely notice the hair comes back in more slowly and isn’t as course as it was before. It says it could take a long time to completely remove the hair, so I’m assuming I haven’t achieved that yet. Since it takes a long time to do, it isn’t as convenient as I first thought. In some says, going to a pro and having them zip through it very quickly makes it much more efficient than consuming a chunk of time on my weekends. All in all, it seems that it is working. Considering the huge price savings over professional laser removal, it is worth trying out. So I’ll stick with it for while more and hopefully it will eventually get rid of all the hair.

I got this device so my wife and I could take the pain out of shaving/maintaining areas of our body. The largest downside we found right away was the lack of support for lighter hair colors which my wife falls into so she hasn't even given it a shot. I've tried it for a couple of months now and it seems to work pretty well. I'm seeing decent results with continued use over time. It's a slow process so don't expect anything overnight or anything. The instructions were pretty clear and easy to follow. It talks you through doing a test "zap" to see if your skin is going to react negatively to the treatment. Then, after a couple of days if everything looks good you're all set to continue treatments. I like the cautious approach here. Using the device is pretty simple and automatic. Theres a sensor that gauges your skin tone so it knows how strong of a pulse to use. Then it's just a matter of making sure it's seated well on your skin (which the device also let's you know about) and flash away! Getting the gun seated just right on your skin can be a little finicky at times but I think it gets better over time and as you get used to it. Overall, for the price of this device, I think it does a good enough job if you're looking for a long term solution to some problem hair areas you're experiencing... as long as you don't have light hair. If you're looking for quicker results, you might be stuck paying a lot more money to get your hair professionally removed.

The Conair Lumilisse IPL Hair Remover is something my wife and I have both used with good success over the past few months. We received it on Dec 21, 2018. First things first, read the included instructions. I say again, READ THE INSTRUCTIONS! This will give you the best start in using this product. The box is very nice, but the interior packaging is very cheap, and to be far, the product itself just looks and feels like a regular hair dryer, and not something that is $230. However, you don't keep the packaging, and you judge a product on how it works. So here goes... in the instructions, it recommends that you use the Lumilisse Hair Remover once every two weeks for 8 sessions. That is a total of 16 weeks, just to start to see results... so it's a slow process. Hence my review coming in April, right at 4 months after opening the product. The Hair Remover requires no creams or lotions to put on your body or face, you simply plug it into the wall and use one of the two different attachment heads to go to town on your desired (or undesired as the case may be) hairy areas! Included is a general head, a wide spread with an orange filter on it and a sensitive head, with a narrower spread with a red filter on it. Depending upon where you are removing hair, put on the correct filtered head. Plug in the unit and switch it on. On one side is a skin tester. This measures the pigment of your skin and the density/darkness of your hair. The fairer your skin and the darker your hair, the better your results will be. When I first turned it on and measured my skin, the sensor put the unit at a '2' in power. So I went ahead and used it that way. When you lay the unit on your skin, there is a green light on the back. It illuminates green when it is ready to go, when you have it on your skin, it flashes green when it is ready to go, and then pull the trigger. ZAPPPP! A light pulse is emitted, along with a click from the trigger, a zap to the hairy area, and then a faint whiff of singed hair! It is recommended (again in the instructions) to test an area for sensitivity for two weeks before going full steam ahead on your hair removal treatment. I did this. My wife did this, we passed with flying colors. So, my wife used it to remove some 'baby hair' at the base of her sideburns. This Hair Remover has been very successful at taking care of that hair, and she is no longer seeing any of those fine baby hairs. She has olive skin, so increased the intensity to '3' in order to take care of the fine hairs. She has used it on and off for 3 months now with great success. She did note that there are certain areas that it is difficult to get the flashing green light to trigger, due to contours on the body. You really do have to keep moving it around to get a good 'seat' on the body, for it to trigger and make sure the flashing green light is 'ready'. As a teenager, I wasn't taught how to shave, and inadvertently shaved too high up my cheek. So, until this product arrived, I was shaving 4 times a week, very high up my cheek to remove my dark hair. The first month, I used the recommended setting by the sensor, and the sensitive head on the unit to attach the hairs on my cheek. Obviously having shaved for years, this hair is quite thick and coarse. Over the next two months, I increased the intensity to '3' and then '4' to take care of the hair. You definitely 'feel' the ZAPP on level '4' and you can smell singed hair as you pull the unite away and reposition it. Over the course of 4 months, I now only have to shave twice a week, and that is primarily due to the white hairs I have in my stubble (as the Hair Remover only tarkets darker hair). My dark hair on my cheeks has significantly reduced in the time I've been using it. I will continue to use it for better and better results. Overall I am very satisfied with the product, it just takes a long, long time to see the results, so don't be discouraged, stick it out and you will see results from it. Make sure you seat the head well on your body to enable it to trigger and flash the green light. That was the only issue we had with it while using it. Other than that, its work very well for us indeed. One final note, you will become somewhat of a contortionist while using this product. The green light on the back of the unit, to let you know if it's ready or not is great. Until you start moving the unit over your body. You will ultimately find yourself contorted into all sorts of positions, in the mirror, trying to see if that green light is on, and if it's flashing... trust me, you will.

Cost Effective way towards hair maintenance

The Conair Lumilisse touts itself as an easy at-home way to reduce hair growth that isn't a razor or a cream and from what I can see it appears it might be on the right path. To be clear, I have not been able to use it for the recommended 6 months to see how it is over the long term, but if my initial experience is any indication, it appears it may be effective. The packaging is well thought out and of good quality and the device feels well built. It seems like a miss to me that the bulb cannot be replaced, but at 300,000 pulses it should last plenty long enough for most people. To start, you gauge your skin tone so that the device can choose the right light intensity. This is reasonably quick and you dont have to re-do it. My wife and I each have light skin and dark hair which makes us ideal candidates for this device, We have each been using this on trouble areas and have seen marginal improvement in those areas. Again this is well under the 6 month time frame so the final results remain to be seen. Alignment on the skin can be a bit temperamental, though through repeated use it appears to get easier to do properly. At the level that is set for us you feel some warmth from the bulb but there is no pain, however if there are large areas to cover it can take a decent amount of time to cover everything. Overall, I'm glad to finally have a razor free option to hair control and I hope in the long term it is as effective as it states, only time will tell, but results are looking good.

I couldn't wait to give this a try it was fast and easy to use, It does take a little time for the sensor to pick my skin type out for some reason. I have had some slow results with this but only used it a few time as directed. I have had this done in a salon before so i knew what to expect i have to tell you it doesn't hurt like the one in the salon. You can still smell the hair burn but the shock isn't bad at all. I takes some time to get use to doing the grid pattern as instructed to do. When using this you must make sure the whole lase is cover by your skin i have some little ares that it wont work on i hope they come out with a smaller attachment for the smaller areas. This is nice to have if you don't want to pay the salon prices but you will have to maintain this as you go on. Overall not to bad will give it more time to see what happens.

An FDA Approved Hair Removal Device!

I gave the Lumilisse IPL (short for Intense Pulsed Light), Hair Remover to my niece for Christmas, so it’s only had a couple weeks of use. Conair indicates that the full treatment can take 8 - 10 sessions (or 4-6 months). So far she has commented that the unit is well-made, and has a quality feel to it. The benefit of this unit for the user is a big savings in time and money. As any young mother would know time is often more precious than money. This product allows the owner to achieve salon results without having to go to the salon. As a side benefit it saves you money too. This definitely is no toy, this is the real deal. In fact I discovered that this device underwent 510K approval from the FDA as a Class II device (categorized as a Laser Surgical Instrument For Use In General And Plastic Surgery And In Dermatology). That’s amazing! I work in a field that builds devices subject to FDA compliance, and I fully appreciate the amount of testing that goes into any device that requires FDA medical device approval. What that says to me is that Conair did a lot of engineering to create this device, and subjected it to a great deal of scrutiny through verification and validation testing and in clinical trials to get FDA approval. This is the same path that any medical devices in a doctor’s office would have to go through. This should give the user a lot of confidence that Conair built a safe and effective device that delivers on its intended use. If you are curious to learn more, search online for FDA K172791. This is a device that emits radiation, and must be treated with respect. Make sure you fully read and understand the instructions for use. Like any device of this type, it can harm you - so take full precautions and be smart about using it. Again, this is not a toy by any stretch… Pay close attention to the Warnings in the User Guide, and use only as directed. After two sessions there hasn’t been a lot of change, but that is to be expected. Depending on your skin type results will vary. You’ll need to adjust the power setting according to your skin characteristics. Treatment takes some patience and is mostly painless. Some people have reported at higher settings it can feel a little like being snapped by a rubber band, mostly you’ll feel warmth in the treatment area. But if you go at an even pace and have patience you should feel very little. Unlike going to a professional salon for laser treatment, the at home IPL process takes longer before you’ll see results. The reason it takes so long to notice a difference has to do with the way the device works and the life cycle of a hair follicle. When a hair follicle dies it doesn’t immediately fall out. A dead follicle can stay in the skin for 2 weeks or longer before falling out. IPL works by heating up the root and bulb of the hair follicle to the point that it dies. Now think of your car sitting in the hot summer sun, dark areas of your car get much hotter much faster than do white or light areas. The same phenomenon applies to how IPL works. If you have dark hair - then the process will work faster and will need less energy from the Lumilisse. If you have light hair, it likely won’t work at all.. The best results will be had by people who have fair skin and dark hair. Using the car in the sun analogy, you can understand why this is. As the Lumilisse pulses its intense light fair-skin will reflect a certain amount of the rays, while the dark hair follicles absorb the heat readily. This combination of light skin and dark hair will achieve the best results in the least amount of time. If you have dark skin, you should not use the Lumilisse at all. Your skin with absorb all of the radiation and you could end up damaging your skin. So be careful! We will provide updates at time goes on, expectations are that it will take a couple of months to see the full results. I have no doubt my niece will be happy with the device and the results, her skin and hair color put her in the category of people that this device works best for. Conair has a winner here, and as long as the user is consistent in the treatments, and has patience - the results should make the user very happy.

My wife was ecstatic when we got the Conair Lumilise. Her mother has had a similar product and my wife used it a few times and thought it could be really useful. There really are very few products like this one. It offers laser hair removal in your own home. Something that could cost thousands of dollars. When you think about it that way, the price tag on this product is really a steal. My wife has been using it for several months now and has seen fairly good results. The hair on her legs is definitely thinner. I think you need to be realistic in your expectations here too. You’re not going to lose all of the hair the very first time or even the first few times. It is a slow process but, it definitely does work. She says it’s a bit awkward to use on your own and can understand why. It definitely takes some skill to get to pointed just right. And unless it makes perfect contact with your skin it won’t even turn on. Which is a safety feature, and a good one because this light can’t be good for your eyes. Another thing to keep in mind is your skin type. This only works on lighter skin tones. Otherwise it will hurt like crazy. Be careful around freckles and moles too, it causes the same problem. If you fall into that category of skin type I think this is a great product and can really help thin out, if not completely remove unwanted hair. It’s not painful at all as long as you have the right skin tone. It’s fairly easy to use, although I would enlist help from someone if possible. And results show as long as you are patient and do your sessions like the directions state. Overall pretty happy with this product and think it’s well worth the price.

I have used the Conair - Lumilisse IPL Hair Remover for just under 6 months now. I used it on my legs, granted I don't have a lot of hair there and that may be why I have the results I do, which is that I haven't seen a hair on my legs in about 4 weeks. I followed the directions using it every 2 weeks at first then switching to 4 weeks. Now, I'm just waiting to see if any hair grows back and just do maintenance. I have the lightest skin on the spectrum as well so that also could be a factor. I've now started on my upper lip and chin and am already seeing the same type of results I saw on my legs, so I'm hopeful there as well. While I did not experience the "sunburn" effect, I did find my skin did get dry but some lotion took care of that with no problems. I also found it awkward to use myself so did have someone help me, especially on the back of the legs. I remember wishing the first time I tried it for a grid of some kind to make sure I got all areas. The skin tone indicator works well, I have a darker patch of skin on part of my leg and the indicator picked up on it. I took a star as not everyone can use it and it can be awkward to use as well. It would also be nice if they included a pouch of some type to keep all the pieces together so you can get rid of a big box.

This review is for Conair - Lumilisse IPL Hair Remover I had the chance to use this home hair remover for 3 times before reviewing it. below are my findings: - hair regrowth rate is noticeably slower that usual, and its getting less every time i use it. - I usually get ingrown hair in my under arms area and this was almost resolved completely after the second use of the machine. - it is a lot more comfortable and cheaper to more discreet than going to a laser hair removal place if you are someone who is shy. - this machine have the same technology that laser hair removal salons have but they made it smaller, and 100% safe for the untrained person to use, so there is no way that you are going to burn yourself using it. - it does have a skin color grade sensor that helps you chose the right intensity, and it never hurts to go one grade higher. - the electric cord length is enough to reach all body areas. - it is better if someone is helping you do the hair removal, specifically on hard to reach areas. - the machine specify that it has a life span of up to 300 thousand flashes which is enough for many life times for 2 people or even more. the only downside that i found is that it can be tricky at times to get the machine to flash if its not 100% flat on your skin.
