Things are getting strange in the drone landscape in the past couple of years making the usual big names in the industry a little more muted so to speak giving brands like Contixo a real time to shine here. Thats just what they have done with the new F33 drone. Before I get to anything I do have to say there is quite a lot of setup just to fly and it must be noted thats why I am not giving a 5 stars as you must calibrate the compass and gyro manually before each new flight spot. I will say that it probably is the most safe doing it like this and not having one that auto figures it out for you but it is something to note. Regardless the video quality on it is extremely good with its 2 axis gimbal which I appreciate as some other 4k drones ive used look more washed out and like FHD instead. Though this is capped at 30fps it would be nice to have 60 but what can you do there this is still good enough. It is listed as having a 40 minute flight time though I was not able to test this as conditions since ive had it have been very poor maxing out for me at just 18 mins I did get to about half battery so it seems accurate. It says there is a over 3 mile range but of course with flight rules these days I also was not able to test this as it must stay in line of sight and that would have been too far for me. Controls are a little on the touchy side but it’s nothing you cant get used to. Once you do it flies beautifully and does very well even in poor conditions I was flying in and wind I never felt out of control. Its build quality seems very solid and high quality and I really like that it comes with an SD card and hard case. It’s a fairly complete package and it seems like they really have the right formula here for a successful longterm brand.

Bought this after my DJI was damaged and unable to purchase the same DJI again, this was the worst choice..the camera was so slow and quality horrible I have a Home Inspection company and was in a bind to get a back up right away. I returned item within a few days and was charged a 100.00 restocking fee which was another bummer … ended up finding another DJI some place else and I’m back in business …. This drone here not sure what you would want to use it for camera quality horrible and slow response with flight.

This drone is awful. The image quality is just so weak. I cannot believe there is no way for them to carry DJI. Some other company needs to step up and make some awesome american drones cause this replacement option is terrible,

The build quality of this drone is nice. It is made of plastic which feels very sturdy. It folds to a very manageable size. While it isn’t super heavy, it is heavy enough to require registration with the FAA which may be a dealbreaker for some. The build quality of the controller is super nice too. Again, it was made of plastic. It has a huge 5 1/2 inch touchscreen which takes up the majority of the face of the controller. In the box i also got extra propellers which is a nice bonus. At the price point it would have been nice to include an extra battery, but at least the one that’s included has a good battery life (claimed time of 42 minutes). Setup of this drone was not simple or intuitive, but it was also not extremely difficult when following the included instructions. Essentially, the entire area around you must be scanned by the drone. To do that, you manually rotate the drone around. Although this is tedious, I believe it supports the laser obstacle avoidance technology which is a fair tradeoff. Speaking of the technology, this thing is packed with flight features. It has automatic flight features like “follow me”, “Orbit”, and “Return to Home”. The controller and the GPS enablement make controlling the drone straightforward and without much struggle. The large touchscreen makes it easier to operate. The camera is a 4k capable, and it has a 2 axis gimbal. The camera is definitely sharp and it seems to have a lot of ability for movement. This is great for getting steady shots. Overall I think this is a good drone with a good camera

Contixo - F33 Vortex 4k GPS Drone pretty slick. Packaged in a great hard plastic case all compartmentalized. Comes with a great controller and battery, charging cable and extra propeller blades. I read through the manual to make sure I didn't miss anything then I started the startup process. Rotated it per instructions to calibrate the drone. Step by step on screen instructions via the controller display screen. Lights came on and did all the right things. Next I started the motors. Very exhilarating experience for me. I kept the drone about 150 feet in the air to get used to maneuvering it. I selected the camera button and took a few photos. Then I took video of the surrounding highway and the freeway flyovers all within a quarter mile from my friend's 5 acre lot. What a site to behold the 4k images were very impressive I must say. I was taken back at how clear and stable the video was as well as it should be on a calm day, but my shaky hands at times can be a bit challenging but not for this drone. Easy to setup, Easy walk through instructions in the manual and even easier on the screen itself. When I was finished using the drone, I pressed on the return home icon on the screen and slid the bar across the screen. The drone stopped and started the landing procedure and landed where it had taken off exactly. Quality of the drone and build is pretty spectacular and the adrenaline rush to remote control such a device and see all its capabilities was beyond my imagination. Definitely highly recommend this drone to anyone who needs crisp 4k video or for shooting photos.

    F33 For Flights and Fun

[PROS] Beginner Friendly: Using the F33 wasn't an overtly complicated process. As a matter of fact, it was quite easy. The included manuals provide information for registrations and clear instructions for flight operation. Furthermore, the official website contains a thorough video for all of the important actions that a user might want do. Smooth Operation: For me, the biggest upside of this drone is the handling. I was able to navigate the F33 with the precision and accuracy that I desired. Latency wasn't an issue, and my connectivity to the drone remained solid. I was able to return the drone back to myself with ease after having it to soar among the trees and around different structures. Also, battery life is decent when not performing a complex flight path. Simple Controller: Setup was a breeze, and the interface of the remote control compliments it. The UI interface icons are placed in a convenient layout, and I was able to toggle different modes as needed. Furthermore, taking a picture or performing a video capture could be done with just the click of a button. [CONS] Unimpressive Video: All 4K recording isn't equal, and the F33 proves it unfortunately. The video quality of the drone isn't horrible, but it does leave a bit more to be desired. Image lacks a bit of clarity and sharpness which makes it seem like the final output is upscaled from a lower resolution. The video that I was able to obtain is fine, but I wouldn't use it for professional content. Picture quality is good along as proper lighting is found. [CONCLUSION] The F33 is a nice, recreational drone to use. It's easy to understand, and fun to use. However, there are a few kinks with the video quality needs to be worked out.

    Cool drone but with compromises

SUMMARY: With no software upgrade path, excessive drift while hovering, and average video, I can’t recommend this drone. It’s possible that it does improve overtime, but the CONs that I observed don’t outweigh the PROs. FULL REVIEW: I was really excited by how complete the package for this drone appeared. It comes in a hardshell case, the drone, while larger than I would expect, appeared to have a lot of the features of modern drones with obstacle avoidance and a long flight time, programmed intelligent flight paths, and sharp 4K video. My first flight after reading the instructions, was a mixed bag. The drone comes with obstacle avoidance enabled which imposes an aggressive and wide 20m detection area which prevents the drone moving forward entirely. If you launch it anywhere in the vicinity of objects it will beep very aggressively at you and the drone flying becomes erratic and jerky, so I end up turning this off immediately. It requires manual calibration for both compass and gyroscope out of the box which most other drones perform automatically these days. I picked a completely windless day for my first light to see how stable it performed. Even hovering with no controller input it drifted and moved substantially which most other drones at this price point don’t have an issue with these days. Flying the drone was nice. There is noticeable delay from input to response on the screen so I would recommend looking at the drone most the time vs the screen when flying. The problem with the drifting is that you really have to be an active flier if you fly remotely close to any obstacles otherwise the drone might drift into them. I thought this might just be a condition of old firmware, but upon inspecting the online support for Contixo, there is currently NO upgrade path for the F33. I also found the yaw movement a little on the aggressive side which led to jerky video and no way to adjust the sensitivity. If you are planning on filming video that is mostly in a straight line, with minimal rotation, or with one of the automatic modes then you are probably fine, but one can’t expect to get good dynamic sweeping shots with this drone. Flight time was good close to the 40+ minutes advertised, and both the controller and drone battery charge via USB-C which is very convenient. It’s great to not have to carry around a proprietary charger. It doesn’t come with a wall adapter though, so I’d recommend getting a 30W unit to achieve the maximum charging rate for the drone battery that I observed. The video is another thing. At least with the default settings the video was average, but I did tweak the settings and was able to get a better result. While it is advertised as 4K, the video is very grainy and almost feels upscaled. The 30fps and lack of HDR just results in choppy motion and washed out colors. The lack of a true 3 axis gimbal has a moderate effect on the video product in addition to the lower fps. At the end of the day this is a below average drone camera, but is sufficient for capturing casual video to share with folks.
