The CORSAIR HS55 is a simple, but well balanced gaming headset. Although it's not as versatile as more expensive models, it meets the needs for gaming without sacrificing much. [PROS] - Comfortable to Use: The HS55 can be worn for an extended periods of time minimal discomfort. The memory foam cups form around my ears well, and I experience no pressure around my glasses. - Great Audio: Sound levels for bass, treble, and midrange are good for the price. Given that these are entry level headphones, I did temper my expectations. Nevertheless, I didn't have to lower my expectations by very much. - Clear Microphone: I was pleasantly surprised with how the mic sounded. As I gamed, others heard me clearly, and my voice was not muffled when I conducted my own tests. [CONS] My gripes with HS55 mainly center around preference. The audio cable nor is the microphone detachable. These are not major things, but they do help when storing or desiring the use the headset as normal headphones. [CONCLUSION] Basic isn't always bad and this headset proves it. Despite feeling like the HS55 would only meet the bare minimum in the important categories, I was surprised by how well it sounded and the clarity from the microphone.

    Headset for gamers

Corsair is known within the gaming space as a leader in high quality products. This headset sets the bar and standard for other headsets that gamers seek. The packaging is your standard Corsair packaging, open up and the headset is front and center. Simple plug in and ensure your drivers are update as with any headset. Once on I noticed how comfortable they are in every aspect. I felt the ear cups breathing and not restricting in the heat. The material was light and breathable. That material likes the headband and melts away like a cloud on your head. I didn’t notice any odd pressure points pinching in the materials. The quality of the headset seemed rigid and strong with its plastic combination. The included speakers provided superb sound production. How did they preform? Well in a 4 hour play session in COD and Apex I was able to hear everything extra crisp and loud and clear. In intense battles no signs of cracking or popping. Everything was crystal clear that allowed me to hear tiny foot steps or battles around the corner that allowed me to correctly direct my strategies in game. I love this headset and allows me to be in the game.

These are decent but not my favorite. They are heavier than I expected for claiming to have lightweight construction. The memory foam ears are nice but the memory foam on the strap changes how it sits on your head. Sound is decent. I tried this out on several devices and it performed well with each of them. The headphones look sleek but the mic just seems out of place. The hinge is a weird design that looks kind of cheap compared to the rest of the headset. The cord is thick and feels sturdy and like it will last over time. Packaging was minimal which is nice and it was secure during delivery. Sound quality is good. Voices and music are crisp and clear. Bass is OK and the volume range is nice. Not sure this would be the best fit for larger heads but worked for me and my oldest son. The white is a nice bright white, matches my white controller nicely if that's important to you. The cord is a decent length too so you don't feel stuck while you're hooked up to it. Overall not a bad headset but not quite 5 star worthy.

Good entry level Headphones for gaming

Overall this is a great pair of simple to use headphones. These are the old school connect to the PC via a headphone Jack or USB DAC to provide sound, so you just plug them in and use. Overall these feel super comfy to my head and wearing them with glasses didn't pose a problem. The weight of the headphones don't weigh you down either which is a nice change and you can use it. The faux leather on the headphones can get a bit sweaty in a hotter room for longer sessions, but that is normal for that material. The Mic is attached and auto-mutes when flipped up which is good and the sound carried fine for my gaming with friends over our discord channel and they didn't complain about my audio, my Aim, different story. Sound is good with these and even though a single plug for Headphone and Mic, they do include a splitter if needed for your setup. Overall I found the sound fine for gaming/chatting/watching content. Are these amazing 5.1 surround, no, but they give me the clear sound I wanted. Cord has a decent length to it so that is good and overall I find these a nice set of headphones for use with no complaints and nothing wasted on RGB. Also since these plug right into the PC via a Headphone Jack, never run out of power either.

Extremely Comfortable but Lacking in Sound

Out of the box, the Corsair HS55 Stereo Wired Gaming Headset was self-explanatory. Plug it in and go. At a glance, they seem very well constructed and are lightweight which is very appealing when using or playing with them on for long periods of time. When putting them on, you immediately notice the feel of the padding and extreme comfort. You can wear them for long periods of time and after a while, not even realize they are still on. The cushions are well constructed and should last a long time. I don’t consider myself an audiophile but I know what I like. As for the sound for this headset, I felt like it was lacking. While playing, I wanted to turn up the volume but found that even at maximum, it wasn’t where I feel it should be. It’s loud but for the max setting, not loud enough. Although the treble and tones feel somewhat crisp, there is very little bass. I like to listen and feel the vibrations and, in this case, there really isn’t any. Additionally, the surround sound was not what you’d expect at this point in headset options. You know its good when you hear those footsteps behind you or coming from a certain direction, although they were there, it wasn’t distinct enough and left me feeling like I could have more. Overall, the headset is okay for someone wanting a base or introductory set but for anyone that wants to be fully immersed, you can find better. It will get the job done, but for some, they will be left wanting more.

The sound quality for music wasn't good enough for me. I didn't get any volume and very little bass. I never tried the microphone so I don't know how well that works.
