Nice design with premium materials. Comfortable even for those with larger hat sizes. Nice cushioning and surprising sound quality for music and games. I test with rock and classical music and YouTube videos. Boom microphone sounds fine and mutes in the upright position. Dial volume control on single ear piece. No software to install. No batteries or charging to worry about. nice simple setup actually refreshingly simple. Would also make a good spare or travel pair. Single large driver on each side. Volume adequate on my asus and aced gaming laptops. Single cord for microphone and speakers with a split adapter if your console or computer requires split. Corsair products in my experience have been very reliable. Their keyboards are some of my favorites. Like all gaming accessories watch for periodic discounts. Nice simple classy appearance which is easy to find if low light. There are much fancier and more complex headsets but if function and sound quality are all you need try a simple headset.

GOOD - Sturdy construction - Good audio - Includes splitter cable BAD - Standard audio is a little bass heavy - Non-detachable cable - No mic gain control TLDR The HS55 is a great option for someone looking for a well-built, good-sounding, basic feature headset. The 3.5mm wired connection works with PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, and practically every gaming platform. It doesn't have wireless connectivity, but that also means it has no batteries to worry about. There's not a lot of further details to dive into for the HS55 Stereo because it's a very basic headset. The 4-pole 3.5mm connection keeps things simple and compatible with a wide variety of gaming devices. While gaming consoles and laptops recognize the 4-pole for audio and mic, the box also contains a short splitter cable for PCs that have separate audio and mic inputs. NOTE: This headset does NOT come with the USB adapter shown in the product images. That's for the 7.1 Surround model of the HS55. A volume dial on the left earcup is the only control and the mic will mute when you flip it up, keeping it, again, simple. Corsair opted for larger 50mm drivers instead of the usual 40mm ones, giving the HS55 better audio quality than most low-cost headsets. The default EQ does favor bass a little, which is fine for most uses, but won't impress musical purists. I find it comfortable to wear ( that's subjective, of course ), though it can get a little hot after a few hours. Really, I only have two small complaints. One, there is no volume or gain control for the mic. Not a huge problem, as the mix boom is flexible and you can set it closer and farther from your mouth. Two, I would've preferred a detachable cable on the headset so you could swap any male-to-male 3.5mm cable you wanted. The 6-ft cable gets a little long when you just want to connect it to a PlayStation or Xbox controller.

This headset is a mixed bag. On the one hand, audio reproduction is decent without necessarily being stellar. Bass, in particular, is not really pronounced. Midrange and treble come through pretty well, but bass reproduction is pretty weak. On the other, you'll be shocked by how good the microphone is. I didn't simply test this during gaming sessions; I used this headset for voice recording and was amazed how it outclassed headsets that cost more than twice as much. Audio quality on the microphone is simply fantastic. My voice comes through clear and crisp, with no ambient noise pickup or clipping. This is all the more impressive since the microphone keeps the mic at some distance from you, and has a somewhat limited range of motion from its mount in the left earphone. Construction is great with this headset as well. The cups are not uncomfortable and the padding enables you to wear them for extended sessions without fatigue or discomfort. Because I'm an old man, I actually prefer the rotary volume wheel in the left earphone; I think you can get both more granular control over volume and more tactile response from volume wheels then you can with switches, and the volume control is in an easily accessible place. A mute button would have come in handy, but since this headset isn't geared towards teleconferencing I guess that omission was to be expected. One cautionary note to people interested in picking this up - connection is only possible via 1/4 inch audio plug. This headset doesn't connect via USB and contains no USB adapter in the box. There is a stereo 1/4 inch adapter included, but check your equipment to make sure you have an easily acceptable 1/4 inch jack before buying. All in all, this is great, cost-effective option for gamers and general users with a fantastic microphone. The only drawback is the weak bass reproduction.

The CORSAIR HS55 is a simple, but well balanced gaming headset. Although it's not as versatile as more expensive models, it meets the needs for gaming without sacrificing much. [PROS] - Comfortable to Use: The HS55 can be worn for an extended periods of time minimal discomfort. The memory foam cups form around my ears well, and I experience no pressure around my glasses. - Great Audio: Sound levels for bass, treble, and midrange are good for the price. Given that these are entry level headphones, I did temper my expectations. Nevertheless, I didn't have to lower my expectations by very much. - Clear Microphone: I was pleasantly surprised with how the mic sounded. As I gamed, others heard me clearly, and my voice was not muffled when I conducted my own tests. [CONS] My gripes with HS55 mainly center around preference. The audio cable nor is the microphone detachable. These are not major things, but they do help when storing or desiring the use the headset as normal headphones. [CONCLUSION] Basic isn't always bad and this headset proves it. Despite feeling like the HS55 would only meet the bare minimum in the important categories, I was surprised by how well it sounded and the clarity from the microphone.

Corsair is known within the gaming space as a leader in high quality products. This headset sets the bar and standard for other headsets that gamers seek. The packaging is your standard Corsair packaging, open up and the headset is front and center. Simple plug in and ensure your drivers are update as with any headset. Once on I noticed how comfortable they are in every aspect. I felt the ear cups breathing and not restricting in the heat. The material was light and breathable. That material likes the headband and melts away like a cloud on your head. I didn’t notice any odd pressure points pinching in the materials. The quality of the headset seemed rigid and strong with its plastic combination. The included speakers provided superb sound production. How did they preform? Well in a 4 hour play session in COD and Apex I was able to hear everything extra crisp and loud and clear. In intense battles no signs of cracking or popping. Everything was crystal clear that allowed me to hear tiny foot steps or battles around the corner that allowed me to correctly direct my strategies in game. I love this headset and allows me to be in the game.

The sound quality for music wasn't good enough for me. I didn't get any volume and very little bass. I never tried the microphone so I don't know how well that works.
