There was a lot of question about overdubs on this. I have my suspicions but overall it is an enjoyable performance. The band rips through the great selections from Countdown to Extinction and some usual classics. Buying the blu was a great idea for the live cd as a bonus. I didn't think the picture was as sharp as I was hoping but I'm satisfied.

The show was great. I actually saw it Live and was excited to see myself show up at least once. The setlist and Countdown to Extinction are amazing. I recommend this to any Megadeth fan!

    Downtuned instruments and overdubbed vocals

I went into this knowing it could be the "Rust in Peace" Blu-ray all over again (like most buyers probably did), and I was right. The vocals are clearly overdubbed and the instruments are downtuned so Dave can sing in key. The result is a bass heavy, muddy sound that may turn some off. There are also no extras to speak of, which is pretty lame considering the price. Would only recommend this to diehard Megadeth fans.

Not sure what to say but it's MEGADETH! Great footage with great song selections. Countdown is one of my favorite albums!

PLAYED LIKE A FRONT-ROW SEAT; GOOD CD, TOO

Megadeth made concert film that looked like a front row seat--no interviews, no sound checks, and no intros of band members joking around. Music played nicely, on Blu-ray and CD, but CD didn't have some dialogue that Dave Mustaine told crowd on Blu-ray. CD was shorter, and a little different, but music sounded good on both. No special features other than CD, but the Blu-ray played like a REAL concert--no intros, no interviews, or other crud that ruins the feel of a real live show! Too many live concert Blu-rays have stupid interview breaks between songs--I wish they didn't! The price was high, at $30 dollars, so FOUR stars, not FIVE, but all concert films have high prices, so no real big deal for fans of concert films.

    Disappointing

Let me begin this review by saying that I am a huge Megadeth fan and own almost everything they have ever released. I have also seen them live on the same tour that this video was shot for. Ok, let's get into it. There are no extras or bonus material. It's just the concert. If you purchased this from Best Buy, at least you get the live CD to go with it. Next, the video picture quality and performance was really good, not great. Having such bright video screens behind the players makes it hard to see the actual band members during the performance. This was a huge problem in the actual live show too. The worst part of this, and the part that made it almost unwatchable, was the fact that what you see and what you hear are two different things. What you see is a completely different performance than what you hear. You don't have to watch too closely to notice that when you hear the drummer do something, but what you see is something else... Something is wrong. Now, live, Shawn is not a great drummer, in fact he is downright basic and boring to both watch and to listen to. However, in the studio, he sounds pretty good. Not sure if it's him or he is being told to keep things simple so others can shine. Whatever the case, the audio of his playing sounds pretty good, but watching it is bad. It's not the same at all. The vocal have been overdubbed and I am pretty sure the guitars have been too. My guess is that they recorded the audio "Live In The Studio" and placed it over the video. This is actually rather common, just not for each member. Watch Dave's lips and voice sounds and the distance he is from the mic. It doesn't match. All of this makes this a pretty sloppy release. Personally I would like to make it so that if the live performance you are seeing or hearing has been tampered with or modified in any way, that package should have a warning label. Hope this helps!

Really great performance with classics like Symphony Of Destruction and Sweating bullets. This concert does not have overdubbed audio like others would say, Dave Mustaine has tuned down to D and can sing the songs much easier without requiring overdubbing. Also other Megadeth classics are featured in this concert like Hangar 18, Peace Sells and Holy Wars. This is definitely worth it, fans will be glad, as there has not been a Megadeth pro-shot concert in years.

I pre-ordered the cd. I won't buy the concert footage. The soundtrack is essential for fans and I am quite satisfied with owning the cd.

what you get, is certainly not what you see...

I am an enormous fan of megadeth. I have bought every single thing they have done. I have seen them live over 20 times. This release is nothing more than a live video with an overdubbed soundtrack. Dave's vocals are very clean. If you have ever seen deth live, you know just how bad Dave's vocals can be. Its part of his charm. I don't know about you, but I am so sick of the same songs being released. Do we need more versions of she wolf, hangar 18, holy wars, etc? No extras to speak of at all. If you are a completist, go ahead and get it. If not, its a really unnecessary release. Shameful, since CTE is such an epic release. It deserved better, and so do the real fans...
