I wanted to improve the sound I was getting from my desktops. I am a musician so I am pretty picky about what my ears are hearing. These were on sale and had good reviews so I gave them a shot. My PC is hooked up to my stereo, so these are not meant to replace my stereo speakers, but to give some decent sound while at my desk. They do just that. They have a nice well rounded balanced frequency response. The bass is decent. However, you need a sub-woofer if you want booming bass, but that is not what these are built for. The two extra features I like are the external input for an mp3 player and the auto power down.
As said these are not meant to fill a room to replace a stereo. However they are really good desktops that I would recommend.

this speakers have a nice bass, without the overwelming thump bass you can get with a dedicated bass box. Also, you save space ( this set do not have a bas box)
Still you can enjoy nice bass and crisp mids, an excelent tweeter and a vere good looking speaker. I have them connected to a 2014 iMac and they work great.

I bought this pair of speakers for two reasons. My girlfriend has the smaller/single woofer version - they sound great, AND I returned a pair of Bose speakers last week that sounded muddy and dull. The Creative T40's sound excellent. Plenty of volume for my 10 x 12 office, extremely clear highs and nice mids with plenty of bass to round out the very nice sound. I am a semi-pro musician and occasionally spend time in a friends studio. Also very familiar with PA gear, equalization, spacial limits, etc. I have a good ear and have really enjoyed these T40 speakers.

good sound for my computer-based music. i listen to 85% classical, 15% jazz.
plenty of volume and bass for my apartment (15 x 20 living room).
nothing much wrong at all with these speakers, though i suppose when they're turned low and the music gets to a pianissimo you can lose it with daytime background noise from an open door or window.
i'm very happy with them.

I had been looking at the speakers for many month and due to the ratings decided to buy them. Was a good choice. They look and sound great. There is plenty power to fill my 10X10 ft room with sound. The quality of the sound is excellen. They don't take up too much desk space. the black colo matches my other computer items.

I gave up a massive 20 year old $1500 component stereo system with large walnut speakers, receiver, turntable, five CD changer, and dual tape drive. For easy listening in a living room while reading, these speakers are great. I can hear all of the instruments in a symphonic orchestra. I ripped 200 CDs to a small tablet and can also listen to worldwide stations with my TuneInRadio app.
I tried a 2.1 system and hated the booming of the subwoofer. This system has adequate sound in high, mid, and deep range. I will stick to 2.0 speakers. I like the replaceable (not hardwired into the speaker) audio cable just in cased it breaks like my Dell computer speaker did.

I WAS SURPRISED AT HOW GOOD THEY SOUNDED BECAUSE I WASN'T EXPECTING THIS FOR THE PRICE I PAID. THEY PLAY LOUD ENOUGH FOR ME.AND BASS IS SUFFICIENT. HIGHS REALLY SHINE...THEY SOUND BETTER THAN A PAIR OF BOSE COMPUTER SPEAKERS I BOUGHT A FEW YEARS AGO AND RETURNED....WELL MADE TOO...CAN'T COMPLAIN

My old Creative 650s finally bit the dust and I bought these to replace them. The 650s were a 6.1 system with a large subwoofer and were great for gaming, though they were not so great for listening to music. Nowadays I only occasionally game on my PC, but I do sample a lot of music tracks before buying and downloading them. The T40s do a much better job at music playback. When playing games though, it sounds like the game is being played inside an echo chamber. Sometimes these speakers can sound very boxy as well, especially when the volume is turned up. In spite of my complaints I am keeping them, as they are adequate to my current needs. For the money I doubt there is much out there that is going to sound a lot better and my current usage doesn't justify spending two or three times as much to get a set of speakers that would sound significantly better.

I bought these speakers to enhance the volume on my laptop which I use for downloaded guitar lessons. There is enough volume to play along with the "instructor" and the associated backing tracks sound out bright and clear. Actually......enought to crank up the amp a bit. Good buy from BEST BUY!

During college I had the 5.1 Elite audio system that took up tons of room and had cables everywhere. Now I share my office room with my wife and tired of the cables, clutter, and have a woofer as a footrest. I was looking for a 2.0 that is reliable, simple design that functions, and sounds decently balanced.
These work perfectly. They are a little larger than others, but don't take up any extra desk space since they are mostly vertical. These function very well, the knobs work and don't feel "flimsy" like some of my even expensive previous setups. I would have liked a rubber grip, as these are a little too smooth for my liking. The audio headphone jack is perfect. It's automatic, I don't have to drive a menu or hit a button to switch to it. This comes in handy in case I decide to do some gaming on my headset so my wife doesn't have to get really annoyed with me.
The audio quality is about what I expected. I am used to very good highs, lows, and mids - so I had it in my mind ahead of time this was not going to stand up to them. If you think they will before you buy, you are going to be disappointed and give it less stars. If I sold my Cadillac and bought a Honda, I would expect to no longer get 0-60 in a few seconds. That is kind of a "duh" thing. The found that I liked the treble up a little bit from the "normal" setting, and the base half between "normal" and "max". That gave me a very comfortable range for music and gaming when I have the room to myself. I do not watch movies on the computer other than Hulu for a couple series I watch; so I can't say much about that other than I can't complain.
I like these so well, I bought my wife a set also. She loves them. Sometimes she cranks up the music to a song she is in the mood for and I am surprised at how good they sound. I am a bit more "conservative" on the volume since I was used to having roommates before we were married or walled neighbors.

I had recently purchased the Klipsch computer speakers that Best Buy also sells. While it's true that the Klipsch speakers had much more depth due to the addition of a subwoofer, they simply did not sound as good. Many speaker systems in this price range than include a subwoofer rely too heavily on the subwoofer which is obvious when played with the subwoofer all the way down. In addition to this, my desk is already cluttered enough, I would rather not have extra cables running to and from a subwoofer adding to the mess!
These Creative speakers don't have quite as much bass as a 3 speaker system including an external subwoofer, but they more than make up for it with their clarity. This is not to say they do not have bass, for a computer or a small TV in a bedroom they fill the room with clear and rich sound. Would I rather have a simple $500.00 system? Absolutely, but for the price you can't go wrong with these!
