I was recently a Sprint, T-Mobile, and Att subscriber. Out of those 3, Att had the best coverage in my area, but also was the most expensive. So I did some research and found out that Att purchased Cricket. They are a MVNO(Mobile Virtual Network Operator) and use Att's network towers. I have been on Cricket for over 2 years and love it. Once I saw a discount for these prepaid cards, I jumped on it. You can use these prepaid cards to pay your monthly bill even if you're signed up for the monthly auto pay. I'm signed up so I know. I can't believe most people pay expensive Att prices, when they can come over to Cricket for a fraction of the cost. Yes, I know they throttle you to 8mbp's download speeds, but honestly that is more than enough when you want to download something. Upload speed is awesome. I have never had an issue with them at all. To be able to spend $50 on a $70 prepaid card is a huge savings for me.

Great Deal if switching to Cricket anyway

I was upset with our old carrier adding excessive "Fees" on top of taxes, and had already made the decision to switch to Cricket. As we already had two family members on Cricket, we could add 3 more users for a total of $100.00 for five lines (8GB data each- plus unlimited talk and text). As my old plan was severely limited on data and talk, this was a great upgrade and reduced my out of pocket for monthly service. So ... Back to the Cricket refill card. As I was buying a bundle with a phone and a SIM card, it was an even greater deal, as I was able to buy the SIM card and the refill card for $42.00 AND get $50.00 off the cost of the new phone. Great Math in my book. I was able to apply the face value of $40.00 to my new Cricket account and was ahead of the game.

Easy to use, applies directly to account as credit

PROS: These prepaid cards are easy to apply to your account, either by text or using the Cricket Mobile App, and they are stored in your account until needed to pay your balance or for other Cricket services. The dollar amount is applied to your account, and with autopay turned on you still get the $5 discount/month even when there is a credit on your account. The amount can be applied to any plan value (i.e. a $70 card will pay for two months of the $40 plan after autopay discount) and if there isn't enough credit left in your account your credit card will be charged the remaining amount. CONS: Because this is a physical card, sales tax and other locality-specific fees are charged on top of the $70 when purchasing.

Only bought with a SIM card for add'l discount on phone! SIM card wouldn't work! Had 2 replacements that would not work...& on going to Cricket, found it was the wrong type of SIM for my new phone!!! Ended up costing me more than I was supposed to save & found when it was too late to return this phone, it was not eligible for all Cricket services as I had not bought by it at Cricket!! I thought I had done all my homework & research & have been very inconvenienced & disappointed from this experience!!

We bought this as a temporary fix for when my parents were visiting the US. The network works great overall and is a good replacement for an expensive Tmobile/Att/Sprint cards. The setup was pretty smooth but required to be with the customer service for about 45 mins. I don't like being on the phone and that was my only point of friction. Beware: If you don't have auto-recharge enabled, you might have to pay a $5-$15 penalty for reactivating the line

    A lower-rent AT&T.

They work off the AT&T network, so the coverage is as good as you'd expect. No, it's not quite as perfect as the big guns (like the aforementioned AT&T, or Verizon or T-Mobile), but the price isn't quite as high, either. If you get involved with them, it's roughly $30 a month for 2GB of data, or $40 for five. They even slice off five bucks a month if you enroll in auto-pay for five gigs a month or more. Not bad for a silly little company with a silly little puffball as their mascot. I'm sold.

Purchased this as a gift for my daughter. Before I gave it to her she switched phone carriers, so I tried to return it, unused, and the back still intact. Best Buy refused to take it back, said once it was sold it was out of their hands, couldn't be returned. That may be true, and I'm more than willing to accept my responsibility. However, I do feel there is also a duty of Best Buy to inform customers making an online purchase when that item is not returnable. I have been unable to find any such disclaimer anywhere related to this card.

So I was talked into buying this when I bought my phone and actually came out better in the end. However, of the 3 we bought one was "deactivated" Although I bought from the comfort of my home I have to go to the local Best Buy and hope they can help. BTW the other 2 I purchased were easy to add as a credit to my existing Cricket account.

Cricket Wireless is the best non-carrier cellular

When you compare Cricket's plans with the competition, you’ll find them nearly unbeatable. For $35, its basic 2.5GB data tier tends to be great for many users, while its $65 unlimited plan is the cheapest avenue to truly unlimited data on the market. The AT&T network, meanwhile, is the strongest available from any prepaid provider. If you're looking for the service and support of a small company with the network authority of a large one, Cricket could win your heart. It’s the best non-carrier cell phone provider.

Buy this card online at your own risk... The card was not registered as sold by the retailer and hence could not be redeemed at CricketWireless by any means and Cricket customer service could not help other than correctly diagnose the issue. Had to contact BestBuy customer service and got transferred to Mobile Department after explaining the issue. The person was very helpful, had to re-activate the card for it to work.

Buying this card because I needed to start my cricket service when I bought my new Samsung Galaxy Sol 3 phone which is a great phone in itself. No hassle for me or disrespect while I'm on the phone with a customer service agent. Got my phone connected and everything is good. The only thing bestbuy didn't have was a screen protector for my phone.

Brand new phone, brand new number from Cricket. Yes, it was easy to set up, but I started getting spam calls within just 30 minutes! Now I am getting 6 or more a day. I never got that many with my old number with Verizon. :( Price is right, and so far no coverage/service problems, but is the spam worth it? Thinking not. :( There needs to be a Not Sure option in this survey/review under the "Recommend this to a friend" section.

Best Buy should not charge taxes and fees

Cricket monthly rates include taxes and fees. So if you pay Cricket $70 directly you get $70 in credit which covers $70 in service. If you buy through Best Buy, they add taxes and fees to the $70. So you pay $75-76 to Best Buy (depending on taxes and fees where you live) and then still only get $70 in service. It's like paying taxes and fees twice. Only worth buying through Best Buy if there is a promotion or you have reward zone dollars to burn.

A good choice to consider amongst available MVNO

This MVNO gives you the benefit of using the AT&T network at a cheaper price. I have no complaints about Cricket Wireless and do not expect them to go anywhere since they are a wholly owned subsidiary of AT&T. In the past I have been burned by many MVNOs that fly by night and disappear quickly. Cricket Wireless seems like a solid choice and doesn’t require second guessing.

A very problematic activation process. Had to take SIM back to store and have store associate contact Cricket directly. Leading up to this, other customer service calls were inconsistent, which each new call center person giving different information. Porting number will take 3 days, which seems ridiculous (still waiting). We'll see how this goes. Will probably not stay with Cricket when my month is up.

The card came on time, but when try to use the Cricket system says the refill card is not activated. So I figured I ll have to go to a store for help. The guys at BBY was nice and was trying to help. Somehow I believe that they cannot activate the card at the store terminal (which i believe is cause that the card was delivered to home), and it took about 30 mins for them to figure they will have to give me a fresh activated card as replacement.

I bought this due to a promotion, but even then the value is just decent. When you buy this, you will pay multiple taxes at the store, like Tax, E911, other tax, etc. All the same stuff you get on your cellular bill. Then, cricket also charges you taxes on your payment. Yes, those same taxes. Essentially, you are double paying for sales tax, E911 tax, other taxes, etc. I don't recommend buying this unless you have a deep discount.

I bought this while on sale and took advantage of the free shipping as a Best Buy member. Of course the card they sent was not activated and so I had to call customer service. Not a big deal, but 10-15 min out of the day and the second time this has happened with Best Buy. Might be better idea to pick up in store to make sure it is activated.

I have a few different handhelds on various carriers and I like the support that I get from cricket as if I had some issues with the refill cards saying they're already have already been registered but Cricket support is exceptional less than 5 minutes and everything was taken care of I recommend their products their handhelds and their Network whoever they piggyback off of

Nothing much to say except that you get what you pay for, meaning I bought the prepaid refill card and it worked. Had little difficulty figuring out how to load that amount to my Cricket account, tried from my Cricket mobile phone but it kept giving me some error about incorrect code. On their website it's not very intuitive to find place/option to load the card to your account but after bit of looking around, finally was able to load.
