I purchased this movie because I like one of the stars and the director. turns out, it was a good movie, and since it has DTS:X audio (object based) it turned this from simply a movie into an event. my home theater is setup for DTS:X audio (as well as ATMOS audio) I highly recommend to anyone who has a receiver (and the additional speakers required) that supports those two new codecs to purchase this movie!

In the aftermath of a family tragedy, an aspiring author is torn between love for her childhood friend and the temptation of a mysterious outsider. Trying to escape the ghosts of her past, she is swept away to a house that breathes, bleeds - and remembers. The acting is superb and although this story has been told in one way or another, you still root for a positive outcome. I fully enjoyed it.

A visually stunning Gothic tale of romance. Crimson Peak delivers stellar performances, amazing visuals and bone-curdling suspense. Guillermo del Toro is a master storyteller.

The house itself has such a "personality" of its own and is major character in the story by itself...you have GOT to see it - wow...and BONUS - Tom Hiddleston is an amazing actor and I make a point to see anything he's in. Music is fantastic...wish they would have fleshed out Charlie's character a bit more...but overall a great movie! Glad it wasn't as scary as I thought it might be - ha ha

I saw this in theaters, and I was floored by the sumptuous, stunning visuals. The sets and costumes alone will cause you to melt! Mia and Tom made a good cast, but the storyline wasn't as strong. Jessica Chastain was perfection in this movie.

I'm a big fan of Guillermo Del Toro's work. While this has the visual flare, it's not as strong on the storytelling as his previous work. A nice gothic mystery with supernatural elements and great performances. Blu-ray transfer is gorgeous.

Not what I was expecting, but still a good movie. I thought it was going to have a lot more ghosts and supernatural stuff in it, but it was more a thriller about the characters. Would have been more enjoyable had I known that going into it.

Crimson Peak sees director Guillermo del Toro back on the scare beat and boy, is it good to have him back. This gothic horror stars Mia Wasikowska as a young woman who falls for and marries Tom Hiddleston (well, obviously), who brings her to live with him and his sister (Jessica Chastain) in the family home that is the epitome of a work in progress. A fun, handsome treat.

This certainly was not a great movie but I enjoyed it. I thought the performances were good, the story was solid but maybe a bit far fetched however I thought it was worth buying. It was not as good as I originally thought it would be.

Saw this one in the theater upon release. In my opinion, it was highly underrated. Very atmospheric with a growing sense of dread. It's worth seeing just for the stunning production design and costumes which look great on Blu-Ray.

Here we go again (another review for the same movie). This is a very well constructed movie. The genere is gothic horror, so don't expect a slasher or other "jump out of the screen" type movie. I'd give this an easy 4.5 stars.

I saw this in the theater and was underwhelmed. But i kept wanting to come back to it. It's a fantastic gothic romance that's beautifully shot, not the horror film that was advertised. I'm glad o gave it a second chance.

This movie is great I recommend it for people that like suspense is a good history from the different time with good scenes and very good actors playing good characters in this movie so watch it and make your own opinion...

This is not a modern horror movie there are no gross outs and minor jump scares. It is an old school thriller in the vein of Hitchcock. Great performances and haunting visuals carry the movie.

Crimson Peak is a beautiful movie in that the set design, costumes, cinematography, and use of color is all top notch. It's not particularly scary outside of a handful of scenes, but you'll enjoy watching this one.

If you're a Guillermo del Toro fan, then you know what you're about to watch going into this movie. There are gothic, mystery, and dark themes that'll satisfy not just the fans but also common film enthusiasts.

Not a great movie, but certainly an interesting one. Has an oldschool feeling in terms of pacing, and distinct look. If you're not a fan of Del Toro or this genre of movie, then learn more before buying.

I'm a big fan of Mr. Del Toro. His visual creativity and imagination never disappoints. While not necessarily a scary film, it is certainly edgy. Even the look of each room was given such devotion to detail with so many layers of visual story telling. It was a well crafted film, and not your run of the mill jump-scare compilation.

This is Guillermo del Toro. The visionary director from many fantasy films. This is definetly not a horror movie but a great story nonetheless. Not his best but still better than many movies in this genre.
