I really like Crock Pot appliances and have had many over the years. The lid design is ridiculous. Anyone with kitchen skills knows that you lift a pot lid back side (the opposite you) first. This allows steam to escape while the lid protects your hand and face...cooking 101. The professionals have designed this lid with a hinge on the back of the lid, therefore it must be lifted from front first and the way it opens exposes your wrist and face. They know it’s a problem because there is a small discreet warning, and these people are professionals! Not knowing this basic rule of safety is like a driver that doesn’t know to turn on headlights at night. Buy Crock Pot, but buy one with a lift off lid that is without a hinge.
