The first thing I cooked was from the recipe book, the white rice and it came out perfect! It wasn’t overcooked or undercooked. If you were making a sushi roll it had just the right amount of stickiness to pack well. Do make sure you get the tabs on the gasket to seal back in tightly. My first round of rice wouldn't reach pressure and that caused it to cook all the water out forcing me to start over. I let the pot cool down for over 15 minutes before I tried again so I could verify how long it took to reach a pressure seal and operating pressure. For the rice it took less than 5 minutes to reach operating pressure, 6 minutes to cook and 10 minutes to natural release the steam….21 minutes to first bite! The second thing I cooked was a small Angus Beef Roast with potatoes and carrots. The brown / sear setting works better than the saute setting I have used on the other round pressure / instant cookers I own, so it browns faster than I’m used to. My favorite way to make chili is in a slow cooker and this one excelled at that!! As it did with chicken and dumplings!! I pressure cooked the chicken and then heated up the broth on the Saute setting to cook the dumplings. I pressure cooked some ribs then sent them for a slow cook swim in BBQ sauce, they came out exceptionally well also!! The Crock Pot Express is now my go to pressure cooker and slow cooker! I really like the oval shape as it gives me more room to spread out the food instead of piled up in a deep round pot. I think more room is always better. It also means a larger heating surface than a round pot of the same size. It seemed to reach operating pressure faster than my other pressure cookers. The lid has a handle that also turns to lock it closed for pressure cooking. When you first open it after cooking you have to hold it awkwardly to drain the water that condensed on the inside of the lid back into the pot. Be aware that the lid wants to turn while you hold the locking handle. The steam release dial is a safe distance from the steam vent so no more steamed fingers. The nonstick interior makes it super easy to clean. My conclusion is that for the features, capacity, wide oval shape and versatility in general that you can’t go wrong. Especially for the price. It comes with a quick reference sheet and a cook booklet with 34 recipes

So far excellent pressure cooker. What normally takes 2 hours to make pinto beans not only takes 30 minutes and I don't have to stand by and constantly watch them so they don't burn.

THE BREAKDOWN: The Crock-Pot express is a great upgrade from the older style crocket that does so much more. I have an all-in-one pressure cooker of a different brand that I love but there is something about the oval shape that just makes this one my go to. I actually gave away some older style Crock-Pots that I had. If you have already converted to the all-in-one cookers, then you won’t be disappointed with this one. It has all the same great features, but the layout of the buttons and knobs makes it very intuitive and easy to use, plus it is oval. Who doesn’t love the nostalgic feeling of the oval Crock-Pot? The fact that you can cook a whole meal in a single pot and not have to dirty up a thousand different cooking vessels is amazing. It is almost set it and forget it! You can sear meat and then cook it as a roast, you can sauté, simmer, boil, yogurt, steam, and the original version of keep warm. I have made many meals in this crockpot from just rice to roasts where I sear the meat then cook then add the veggies and let it cook to making chopped steak with mashed potatoes and mushroom gravy. It performed very well, I had one issue where the lid would not seal, but after removing the lid and putting it back it sealed perfectly. The menu is very easy to use and if you want to vary from a preset then it is easy to override and create your own. PRO’s: -The oval shape -9 in 1 -Intuitive menu layout -Quick clean function -Easy twist lid lock CON’s: -Watch your lid seal if you are pressure cooking SUMMARY: Overall, this product worked well and as intended, and I would recommend this to a friend if they are in the market for device like this.

Twist lock grip top awesome great design. Love the front screen menu presets simple, accurate, very useful. Did a top round with potatoes, carrots and onion soup base on slow cook crock pot style 5 hours excellent. The steam release button on top very easy twist on/off well designed. The unit is very well made and very user friendly. The only con is the inside container is metal which is lighter but very easy to scratch be careful. The pressure cooker crock pot combination saves counter space. Yes I highly recommend this is a quality product at a reasonable price.

Crock-Pot Oval Express Crock 9-in-1 Pressure Cooker We’re pressure cooker fans. But that’s hasn’t meant our previous efforts didn’t require pulling out the instructions each and every time. Our previous machine was NOT intuitive. This Crock-Pot Express is VERY intuitive despite having still more functions. The Crock-Pot Express operation makes sense, the controls acting exactly how we’d guess. We already like it a lot. In fact, we were pretty sure we wouldn’t need our older slow cooker and just gave it away. This Crock-Pot Oval 9-in-1 offered several solutions in one very easy-to-use appliance. That’s a good thing, because this isn’t small. All is forgiven after you’ve cooked with this for a week. The Crock-pot succeeds at everything it can do, and you always feel you’ve got the right tool for your purpose. We tested this out thoroughly. I love pressure cooked pork loin (We used just over 2 lbs of boneless pork loin … but NOT tenderloin) and that was up first. This is a two step process but in the Crock-Pot, it’s all done right here. Butter or oil in the bottom, brown/sear/sauté selection and the seasoned/herbed loin is nicely browned. Scrape the bottom with the added liquid (broth or beer or whatever) and then we move on to the pressure cooking process. Pull the now cooked meat out of the Crock-Pot after about fifteen minutes later. (I’m going to suggest cutting a few minutes off these already very short cooking times you typically see for pressure cooking, because this is a very efficient machine.) You can return to the sauce setting to reduce the pan sauce into a gravy. While you’re waiting you could crisp up the loin by putting it in a very how oven. but we usually skip this part. We keep it a one pot dish and you had to be here to smell the flavors and cut into the tender meat. The entire cooking time including preparation might have been 45-60 minutes. Lovely results. Clean-up was also super easy. The inside pot appears to be truly non-stick. We’ve wanted a rice cooker, but one more large container for our random use for this single purpose made no sense. The Crock-Pot does the trick, and rather well. The slow cook function is a just as easily accomplished relying on the well done operating screen. Everything about the Crock-Pot Oval Express has been easy to accomplish. Sure, go ahead and use the instructions, but you’ll quickly see how nice the menu structure is laid out, and how the pre-set controls simplify the process. Over-riding the pre-set controls is also easy. Love it.

The Crock-Pot Oval Express Crock 9-in-1 Pressure Cooker not only cooks meals fast but they come out with great tasting flavor and texture. First, let me say the set-up is very easy however I was very disappointed with the instructions because I felt they were limited for a first-time user of a pressure cooker which can be dangerous. I found myself confused while cooking meals with it and felt the manufacturer could have been more informative on how to use the product for beginners. Eventually, I caught on and everything I cooked in it came out PERFECT! I utilized the recipe book that came with the product and found very good recipes that the manufacturer provided. The Mac & Cheese is so easy to make and takes very little effort. My roast came out tender and tasty! I have been cooking with this pressure cooker multiple times a week! I recommend this product, especially for people who cook large meals or need to cook meals fast!

I am in love with this little machine! I have used a pressure cooker in the past and really enjoyed it, I have to say a HUGE improvement is the non-stick coating that is on this guy, it makes cleaning up so easy! The fact that this little guy slow cooks and pressure cooks really helps to clear out some of the machines that may be collecting dust in your cabinet and taking up valuable space. I feel like not only does this "do it all" but it does it really well!

With the wide oval insert, I was able to cook larger roasting chickens, corned beef and my favorite stew. The non stick insert is made of aluminum and very light. Cleanup is a breeze. Like most pressure cookers, the seal is quality material. It slips out for cleaning and easy to replace into the lid. The jiggler is removeable for easy cleaning too. Top feature I found was the oval lid is just placed straight on top of the pot, then the handle turns to lock. Simple! Choose either steam or pressure from the stem valve setting knob which is nicely placed far enough from the steam vent to help prevent a scald. The unit was easy to figure out without having to look at the manual. But use it to get the best out of its many features and settings. Like multi-pots its a great slow cooker too. High and low settings all my favorite recipes are easy to adapt to this machine.

I was excited to try this pressure cooker/crockpot combo. I have a large family and there are times when I could use a second pressure cooker or crockpot but storage space is limited. With this unit I was hoping that I could get the use of two devices while only taking up the space of one. The documentation is lacking. For instance, the rubber gasket seal for the pressure cooker needs to be installed by fitting the seal into brackets. This is standard in other pressure cookers. But with this one, you also need to insert two tabs on the seal into holes that were really hard to see if you weren’t looking for them but the manual doesn’t make this clear. The manual page for inserting the seal actually has a lot of blank space so there was plenty of room for this to have been clearly indicated. Putting the lid on requires aligning a tooth/wide peg on the left side into a hole and the opposite on the right. You have to do this while holding the lid by the handle which turns because it doubles as the locking dial. It's doable once you know what you’re trying to do. The design of the lid also makes it difficult to put the lid on a counter upside down after taking it off the cooker. I do like that the pressue release is away from the steam release valve. On my other pressure cooker it isn't and you have to be extra careful not to scald yourself when you do a pressure release. I don't like the deep well around the edge. It was difficult to clean. The same lid is used for the crock pot as is used for the pressure cooker. Crock pots usually have glass lids. I didn't like not being able to see the food I was making. The insert has a non stick coating, which is really nice. It kept the food from the meals I made from sticking to the pot. The roast that I made in it as a slow cooker came out pale. The taste wasn't affected. But the only reason that I can think of for the difference is that this insert is metal and my other crock pot is stoneware. The recipe book wasn't great. It showed a recipe for mac and cheese and the picture didn't match the ingredients. The recipes don't showcase all the great things that a pressure cooker can do. The fit and finish aren't as good as they could be. For example, the label on the knob that is turned to seal the lid doesn’t line up with the label on the lid. It's not a big deal because there are only two positions. Also, the rotation of locking knob/handle doesn't have a smooth operation. There is some resistance when you rotate it. I'm not sure that the oval design saves that much space. Compared to my other pressure cooker it isn't that much smaller and my pressure cooker is 2 quarts larger. I do like that user interface has a progress bar that distinguishes between heating and sealing, and the timer displaying seconds instead of rounding up to the nearest whole minute. While this unit is decent, it wouldn't entice me to give up my pressure cooker or my slow cooker. Overall, I would give it 4 stars.

    Same Crock-Pot Express, different shape

I’ve had another Crock-Pot Express, but round shaped and I feel I like this oval shape a bit better. The shape helps give more room on the sides for things like the vegetables in the picture of the pot roast attached. It ensured the vegetables were in the broth that it was being cooked in and gave a good consistency across the whole meal. All of the features of the Crock-Pot Express are still amazing with the ability to cook entire meals in a single pot. From sauteing vegetables, browning meat and pressure cooking it so that it is done in the fraction of time a slow cooker takes. One of my favorite meals in the pressure cooker is spaghetti. The fact the sauce gets cooked right into the noodles gives it that twice baked flavor the first time. Another is chicken and rice, all moist and tender in a single pot. My mom enjoys making stews because you can get the vegetables good and tender but still maintain their shape. Directly compared to their round version, the only difference besides shape is the seal on the lid is a bit looser. The seal also has little tabs that must be inserted properly if removed for cleaning. The LED display is white instead of blue like on their older models, making it appear a little brighter. All the other features and selections are the same though, so I would assume that the same reliability I have had with the older versions will remain with this one.

At first the Crock-Pot can be a little intimidating If you are not familiar with pressure cookers… I used to have a basic one when I lived in Brazil, so when I got my hands on this one, I was mind-blown! The safety features, like the locked-unlocked button + the easy release steam dial really got my attention. I also love that it is an all-in-one multi-cooker! The first thing I cooked to try it out was rice. My old rice cooker broke so I thought would be a good start. It turned out pretty good, and the nonstick interior made cleaning easy-peasy. The directions on the manual are clear and easy to follow. Can’t wait to try some recipes from the little booklet that came with it, and some of my favorite Brazilian food! Totally recommended!!!

I purchased this for my daughter as a Christmas gift and she has been so thrilled with her gift. This crockpot does so many different functions, eliminating the need for several other appliances. It is extremely well made and is easy to handle. It feels very sturdy without being extremely heavy or bulky and it does not monopolize the counter space in her little kitchen. I continue to be impressed with this crock pot each time she describes a meal she has prepared with it.
