Sam Peckinpah with James Coburn is a magnificent combination! Cross of Iron is a tremendous World War II film, few equal it. Coburn's performance is terrific. The action scenes are great and how many movies can boast they used actual T-34 Russian tanks? Maximillian Schell and James Mason give great performances also. A truly one of a kind movie.

this is one of the better movies Sam Peckinpah directed told from the German point of view. As always, James Coburn and James Mason are excellent. a violent and remarkable film.

The Blu-ray is a big upgrade in quality from the DVD version. Watching the blu-ray version was almost like seeing the movie for the first time. There is plenty of action as the movie takes place on the Russian Front in 1943. James Coburn is the leader of a German squad of soldiers fighting to survive an onslaught of Russians. Coburn clashes with a new German Officer whose sole purpose for being there is to win the Iron Cross. The ending is a bit of a surprise but the movie is well worth watching

Boldly told from the point of view of a National Socialist soldier, this bleak and harrowing war film has fallen out of popular discourse but should not be discounted. Worth blind buying and discovering for film fans!

Really great World War 2 movie told from the German perspective. Not like your average war film. James Coburn is at his best in this movie. Would recommend.
