My CybertronPC experience.
*Scroll down for short version.
On 11/4 I ordered my first gaming PC from CybertronPC a STRIKER IV i7 Quad-Core http://www.cybertronpc.com/customkititems.asp?kc=GM2143B from Best Buy.
11/8 I picked up my new computer from Best Buy. Not much in the box. Only the CPU and 2 disks. Now typing this I know it was missing a lot of manuals disks and extra parts, plus packing inside the CPU.
Hooked it up and Aerocool LCD fan showed that the CPU blinking 0000. My 1st call to CybertronPC. They had me take off the cover and take a picture of CPU fan. Then I had to move wires around from the mother board to get the fan to show speed/temp. I hung up after that was fixed but I had to call back. The 2TB HD didn’t show up. Easy and quick fix when I called. After installing a game and playing it I found out that the MIC did not work right. Called again and it was too late 6pm CST and they are closed. Had to wait until Monday and call back. Weekend I try my best to fix it. Nope.
11/11 I called and they told me that I should go back to Window 8. I updated and installed 8.1. It told me that I should have a disk with Windows 8 that came with the new computer. Told them all I have are 2 disks that are for the GPU. Said they would mail me a disk. After the phone call I found out that I have a Window 8 disk for my laptop. Did a fresh window install of window 8. Install drivers for the motherboard audio. Still did not work. Install drivers from Realtek. Still did not work. I have 3 MIC and all work in my laptop.
11/12 After another call and more testing. I just wanted to send it and they would fix it. So I put it all back in the box and sent it back to CybertronPC.
11/22 I have computer back. Nothing was done and no power cord in the box. There was no email and I called to find out they could not duplicate the problem. Said they use Skype and it sounds fine. I use a MIC that I know that works and window “Sound recorder” save it to desktop and replayed. You could not understand anything. Like a robot voice. Now I really just want a new computer, this one was a returned with no manuals and disks/parts missing. I want a new computer. I sent this one back same day I got it from UPS. Want the new one tested and sent out.
11/26 Old computer delivered to CybertronPC and new one sent out.
12/3 New computer at the house. Wow last one was missing a lot of stuff. Packing inside the CPU and 2 big zip lock bags. Yeah last one was a return. Hooked it up and Window 8 shows 3 app box and admin in top right. I click the desktop and everything looks OK. I check to see if the MIC works. Saved a file to desktop and it does work. There is a file that said click here to clean PC or something like that. I just thought it was something admin left when check out the system. It would go back to factory setting. I clicked and errors after errors. I called CybertronPC again, it was 30 minutes until 6pm. After 30 mins hold time I just hung up. I said well I just do fresh install of windows. Nope, it would get to 11% and crash. Did that a few times, then just went to bed.
12/4 Called CybertronPC and we unhooked SSD and try to use the 2TB HD. Didn’t work. After some BIOS checks, tech said that he will ask around and call me back tomorrow. I did some google search and found that it might be the RAM. I took 3 sticks out and left one in. Same thing crash at 11%. I took that one out and put in another one and SUCCESS. It was the RAM.
12/5 Called CybertronPC told them it was the RAM wanted to see if they could overnight 1 stick and I would send this one back in that same package. They didn’t want to do that I had to give them my Credit Card number or send the old one back. When they have the old one they will send the new one. I told them will all the problems I had since Nov 8 they could just overnight and I would return old one. Nope.
12/6 Found a box and mail out old RAM back to CybertronPC.
12/9 RAM delvived to CybertronPC. Sent email (5:12pm CST) asking if new one will go out today. No reply.
12/10 Email reply said the RAM will go out today.
12/12 Received new RAM, installed and test with Memtest. All looks good.
35 days later and so far (12/15) I have my 1st gaming PC bought from CybertronPC working.
I don’t blame the tech guy. Management should of took over the call and handled it. The computer is great so far. Little loud but it has all those fans. Now I just need a good game to test it all.
