Before this router was using a cable company router and I had bought a dual band d-link router previously for my home and loved it. Immediately after hooking up and setting up (10 minutes) you will notice faster speeds. I noticed less buffering on Netflix or Amazon, I also noticed my album art now shows up when playing Spotify through Airplay on my TV. The range is also extended vs. my cable router. You will see how much difference this router makes even with the same speed from your provider. Great job on this router.

I do everything in 4k, and this is the way to go if you want a router to help get you the speed you need. I also do some gaming online, and it's super stable with this setup. Speaking of setup, it was fast and easy. Follow the instructions, and you are all set. Placed this in the center of the house, and now I can stay on 5ghz WiFi. Maintaining my highest lever of speed. Thank you DLink for a great product.

    Performance was not as expected

This D-Link was acquired to solve a signal strength problem in parts of my residence. The unboxing and installation were quick and easy. The provided instructions were clear to understand. Joining my devices to the new router was also very straightforward. The performance, however, was lacking. I saw no improvement in signal strength. I spend a lot of time on the internet for a home based business. Others in my household spend time gaming or streaming movies and other video. They saw no improvement in quality or the speed at which they were able to download content. With the exception of my original expectations, the router performed well for everything else and it would not stop me from recommending it to a friend depending on their needs. Although I would purchase this router as a normal accessory in my household, I would return it if I was only looking for better signal strength.

I have a long house and the main internet connection is of course on one end. My standard WiFi modem has decent coverage. I am going to use this as an extender for the network. I swapped out this for my provided router. The setup was pretty easy. Not a huge fan of the GUI. Also, I am never really a fan of the provided firmware from any company. But this is not compatible with dd-wrt or tomato. Near the router; wired and wireless are pretty compatible with my original router. On the other side of house there was a pretty steep drop off in the download speeds. I was able to stream in HD from my networked Plex server and Netflix thru a wireless Roku. The quality was HD, but not as good as I would have liked it. I put on a couple of Roku and started streaming and noticed a larger drop off. Yes you can run multiple wireless devices on this. But multiple 4k wireless streams I do not think is a good idea. Would I recommend this to a friend? I wanted to make sure I was honest. Yes I think this is a decent router. If it is 1-2 people with limited devices connecting in a small(ish) apartment then this is a good deal for you. But if you have a house with several people and multiple streaming devices then this is not the router for you.

    Frustrating Starting with Setup

The D-Link AC2600 is billed as an "Ultimate Streaming and Gaming" router, boasting the latest MU-MIMO wireless technology. But just getting set up can prove to be frustrating. The initial setup went fine via the (forced on you) Wizard with no option to manually configure, putting in all of the settings just the way I wanted them, after which it prompted for a firmware upgrade from v1.00 to v1.01. Agreeing to the upgrade, it took just a couple of minutes and a reboot. Following the reboot, the Wizard again launches and spends an indefinite amount of time trying to "Locate Internet Connection", which never completes. Same Wizard and same response whether trying to configure via the wireless or wired connection. Ultimately had to hard reset the device to get it to recognize the internet again, but still had to go thru all of the same setup steps that I had already gone thru. Ultimately, a router shouldn't lose it's programming when upgrading like that. Moreover, if this is the "norm", it may deter users from applying firmware upgrades to avoid a reconfig, leaving the device vulnerable to known security issues. Once set up, it does throw a good signal and speeds are comparable to other MU-MIMO routers, nothing special. The router does not have any automatic prioritization for game systems that support Killer, but you can manually prioritize devices to getting a higher ranking in the QoS settings. You are limited to 1 device listed as "Highest" priority, 2 as "High", and 8 as "Medium". Everything else is just standard (good for IoT devices). The settings for firewall, port forwarding, website filters, and static routes are limited to 24 entries to each. For most people this should be more than enough, if even used. The key is the website filtering, which can only block up to 24 individually-named/entered sites, and cannot block categories of sites, so no real true "parental control" on this thing to allow entire swaths of sites to be easily blocked. And for those with larger homes, there is no "Bridge Mode" on the device to expand your network, which many other routers include. Ultimately, the device is a middle-of-the-road gaming router, but found myself completely turned away from it based on my initial setup frustrations. The first interaction with a device like this is the setup. If it's that bad right out of the box, it doesn't bode well for how well one will like it moving forward.

    Works well

My old dlink router was old and dying. Since the last one worked well, I decided to get another one (this model). The set up was a little different in that it was all wireless and no disc, so that took some getting use to. I had to learn about the differences between IPv4 and IPv6 and hiding the SSID name like I did on my old one was difficult to figure out, but I got through it. So far, however, it appears to be working well.
