One of the best wireless cameras, period.

I actually saw these in person at CES and signed up to trial a new security system there. I have yet to receive that home security kit which includes this camera, but I have several older D-Link camera's that I need upgraded and I had a gift card to purchase one before I get my trial kit from D-Link. I just got this item yesterday and the image quality and ease of set-up is outstanding. this has to be the easiest camera ever to set up. You literally sign up for an account online at mydlink.com and download the app and sign in. There is a Q Code on the back and Serial Number - you just enter it into the app and BAM - security camera. The original MyDlink app for some reason could not find the camera and install it. However, the Connected Home app which works in parallel with the MyDlink app found the camera and installed it right away - seams to be different process for the connected app, it runs smoother. Anyways, I love D-Links firmware and software - you can program these camera's to do anything and I mean ANYTHING. They detect sound, motion and anything else you program it do. Wish they would have included an SD Card, but not a deal breaker since it looks like they are going with Cloud recording. They need to add support for the 935 and I'm not sure how much the service runs, but it needs to be cost effective for any real opportunity or it will be a deal breaker. Anyways, I completely disagree with the other reviewer who stated the Wi Fi range is short. Not sure what his deal was, but when I plugged in this unit, it had a wireless update over the air and the range is double my last camera's, at least. Of course, I believe that is attributed to the Wireless AC option, which I am glad they finally supported. I am able to pull up the feed on these camera's instantly compared to the older cameras which is likely also because of the AC and maybe perhaps faster processing. In fact, this camera is almost as fast responding as wired units. I am just happy I no longer need a stinken computer and Ethernet cord like it's the 1990's to set the unit up like the older units. The fact you can just scan a bar code, screw it in and then done is a huge, HUGE deal to me. I am looking forward to receiving the trial kit and getting more camera's. This is why I am D-Link loyal. Their new routers coming out and camera's are some of the best and the price is right. These camera's are better and cheaper then the older units, which is huge too. I didn't like paying $170 for a 480p camera with recording. That is all gone now, cheaper HD camera's are here. I think D-Link should up their game though as soon as possible and get us 1080P set's. 1080P is pretty much the lowest standard now that 4K is out. I would hope they go to 1080P soon with the next revision or leap frog and go directly to 4k. They have 4k recording on smartphones now that are cost effective to produce, I can't imagine it would be hard to implement this in the next camera, i.e. the 936L or 950L? All they need is good compression and in the era of 100+ mbps and gigabit internet rolling out quickly, it would be nice to have 4k feeds that are switchable between 720P and 1080P. Just sayin'

I spent over 2 hours with D-link support on the phone and could not get the camera installed on a system without WPS. I took the camera to a location I had WPS and was able to install it. I quit working after 20 minutes. I reinstalled it again and it quit working again. I would not recommend this camera to anybody.

Purchased this camera to go with the two 933Ls and ended up taking this back right away. Not sure what the problem was and didn't bother to contact customer support since we already had two other cameras. We were going to purchase another one or two 933Ls but have since decided against that too.

    Good video, needs work

First, my experience level: I have an independent Dropcam Pro as well as a Foscam FI9831W and a Dlink DCS-930L sending video to Blue Iris running on a virtual Windows 7 installation running on my Linux PC. The DCS-935 has very good video but the Wifi signal is impossibly weak. Signal strength is HALF what my old DCS-930L produces (side-by-side test) and I can only get a decent connection within 20' of my router - the DCS-930 easily connects with 4/5 bars signal strength on my Asus RT-N66U router from 45' away, the -935 shows 2/5 bars and can't connect reliably. This camera definitely needs work. Hopefully a firmware upgrade will help whenever it comes down the pike. If I had realized this camera had just come out this year, i would have opted for a comparable Foscam at half the price. 'Course, it's new this year, too...main reason I didn't go Foscam was the specialty plugins needed (being on Linux, nobody loves us...). Still, I'm beginning to regret not buying the Foscam C1 instead. Setup isn't too bad once you figure out what they want you to do. You MUST use a mobile app for initial setup - the docs call for an app that doesn't exist in the iTunes app store but there is one that apparently is the one they actually want you to use (per the full manual, not the quickstart guide). Anyway, after painfully working through the very slow app which crashed before I actually got registered with myDlink (not that that matters), I was able to get to the point I could connect the camera to my network - which is when I discovered how poor the Wifi signal was. I now have it installed on Blue Iris and so far, so good but I can't use the camera for my original purpose because of the connection issue so I had to find an alternate use. After using my DSC-930 for a year, I'm a bit disappointed with the 935. Hopefully, Dlink will make the necessary firmware mods. One other thing, I couldn't find a telephone support number on the Dlink website - they only seem to have an email contact page - not a very good way to get one-on-one customer service. We'll see how they respond. In the meantime, wait for the next rev...

Great camera at the basic level - worth the $

As a non-tech geek, this camera was very easy to set up. Totally worth the money. I was able to load app to both iPhone (wife) and my Samsung. The camera is only used to monitor our dog and it works great for that. It also works great with minimal lighting. I really like the option to have the camera send you a note that "motion" was detected. Again, worth the money and easy set up. No need to call 1-800-help
