With such a glut of period pieces consuming the airwaves as of late, David Goyer's Da Vinci's Demons is a fresh change of pace and worth a watch. As with many of the made for premium cable shows, there seems to be a need to have a weekly R rating quota for every episode that is so gratuitous it sometimes takes away from a very strong story continuity. Other than that, the characters are rich in their depth from the heroic to the sinister. Not having the Starz network, I bought the first season on a whim and easily found myself caught up until the end. ...now I gotta wait until the next boxed set.

This show which has now started its second season is a gem. It mixes the history of Europe during the times of the Medici with the wonderful eccentricities of a "what if" Leonardo Da Vinci. He is very remeniscent of the BBC Sherlock with his almost autistic reasoning but with a lust and passion for knowledge and women. The fictional story that ebbs and flows through the short eight episodes is genius but that is David Goyer who has been involved in quite a few modern tales such as Blade II , Dark City, The Dark Knight Trilogy and Man of Steel . highly recommended .

There was some reservations on how anyone would attempt to play Leonardo Da Vinci in a running TV series. However, once you accept Tom Riley to play one of the most renown geniuses that ever lived, it becomes entertaining. Riley plays Da Vinci with some tongue-in cheek that make it more enjoyable to watch. Really surprising how well the first season was shot, with a very good supporting cast. One of the better Starz made-for-TV series.

I bought this Bluray because I was looking for something new to watch, and had heard about this show and it seemed like something I might enjoy, which I very much did! It's definitely a product of the success of shows like Game of Thrones, but it charts it's own course and is in no way a copy. I'm a fan of historical fiction, so this is something that definitely fits right in that category. Looking forward to season 2!

While I have Starz on DirectTV, and I stumbled across this program, I just couldn't wait to see what I missed. So started again by buying the DVD of Season 1. Watched it, and watched it again, and am drooling for Season 2. Truly UNIQUE attempt at taking a historical figure and creating an alternative time/story line. IF your a Game of Thrones fan; you'll enjoy DaVinci as it appears more realistic than the fantasy of "Thrones".

This series is definitely one of my top 3 favorite shows just because of how creative it is. A well written story line, well acted and thoroughly entertaining take on the life and times of Leonardo Da Vinci with a story line that is completely made up, but who cares!!! The blue ray disc has excellent audio & video quality presented in a nice quality 3 disc package. I can't wait for season 2 to come out.

I am actually reviewing the blue ray edition which has an excellent audio-visual presentation, and loved the show so much that I also picked up the DVD edition to have as a collector's item. Sale prices were very appealing so I picked up each edition. If you haven't considered checking out this new series, just watch season 1 & 2 trailers & I'm sure you'll be hooked right away!

The actors are great, the women are beautiful, everyone seems to have a great time . Its a novel approach to the early history of Da Vinci. How his mind works to come up with needed helpful "things" is very unique. The writers do keep you guessing on where this story will go. While some things seem a little far-fetched, they are believable. I look forward to future seasons.

Very entertaing show. Enjoyed seeing what some if Da Vincis invetions posdibly looked like and how they worked. I also like how they incorporated other historical figures like a young Nicoli Machovelli and Vlaf the impaler. The cinamaphotography is nice in that it attemps to show how Da Vinci possibly viewed the world around him.

I love the acting, the inventions and story...very involved and detailed. I don't like how few extras were included in this fairly expensive BluRay set. There is like 15 minutes...that's it? 8 hours of Movie Quality film about Leonardo Da Vinci and all we get is 15 minutes? Otherwise I love this show! Thanks! Jeremy

This program is so well put together that it flows seamlessly. I have always been a big fan of Leonardo, but this program has brought him to life. It shows not only his brilliance, but also the man behind the art! I love this DVD so much that I watch it over and over again!

For anyone who likes history and biographies of historical figures, this one has an interesting take on the life and times of yo9ung DaVinci. Although there is some historical facts, the writer's take on the adventures of Leonardo is quite interesting it was fun to watch.

I decided to purchase the first season after watching a preview on Starz. Reminded me a lot of The Borgias, which I really like. At times, it feels like a spinoff of The Borgias. If you are a fan of The Borgias, I would recommend checking this series out.

During some downtime without cable or wifi, we were looking for an interesting series to watch. Davinci's Demons came through. We were constantly entertained by the predicaments he found himself in, and are looking forward to the next season.

This is really great stuff ,delving into DaVincis inner soul,his mind is overloaded with thought,& invention,so near to insanity at times but hes not, hes just pure Genius, this first season has got me hooked, i hope they continue with the same passion!

Got this first season set at an amazing price from Best Buy, the actors and set designs are awesome in this. Wish the season two DVD set would be out already. The story in this is really good, totally worth it if you get it at a good price.

It creates a fantasy world about Leonardo davinci. So far back in history that we can't gather all the facts about him, the show creates a mysterious fantasy about his life while combining elements of what we know to be true about him.

Haven't watched the extras but the over-all series is great. Season II is starting soon and the DVD is a great way to refresh your memory of what occurred in the first season or if you are into series based on historic dramas, this is for you.

If you are looking for an engaging drama, with new twists and fresh drama, DaVinci's Demons is sure to be your cup of tea. However, those looking for historical accuracy may be disappointed. Sit back and enjoy and let these demons trap you.

This series provides an interesting and provacitive look into the tortured world of a genius mind while providing a historical look into the amazing life of Leonardo Da Vinci. Enjoyed watching the first season!
