We purchased the Danby model because it was the least expensive for the capacity. We've had it 3 weeks now and are on hold to return the item as I write this. . REASONS: . (1) The temperature fluctuates wildly. Set at 50, it's not uncommon to watch the internal temp go from 44 to 54 several times a day. This causes the wine to expand and contract, continually pulling small amounts of oxygen into the bottle if it's a cork closure. If your wine is in the fridge for a few weeks? No problem. But if you've got a few bottles you want to hold on to... not good. I imagine screwtops would be unaffected by this but the wine will certainly not age/mature properly. . (2) The noise is not suitable for a dining/living area. The compressor itself is not the problem, it's a fairly quiet hum. It's the gurgling noise from the refrigerant lines that is the real kicker. After several evenings, we had already had enough but tried to stick it out anyway. In the end, not livable for us. . Is it a bad product? No. But if you plan to have 50+ bottles of wine, chances are you don't want to risk the corked wine going bad and you certainly won't want to put up with the noise. . Our two cents.

I have owned 3 of these units for almost 7 years. One of them finally kicked the bucket today. The others are doing just fine. I have moved them from one house to another and from the mainland to Hawaii. The just keep on truckin'. I know some people here are worried about the temperature fluctuations...that is true, however, they are within an acceptable range. And it takes a lot for the total mass of wine in a filled cooler to change appreciably. The temperature sensor is telling you the temperature of the air inside the unit, not of the wine. So, even periodic 5 degree change is nothing to worry about. I own some high priced Bordeaux, California cabs, and other valuable wines, but have never had a problem. They have all been kept fine.

For what we paid this is a good value. It's in the kitchen and is no noisier than our fridge. Keeps temps constant. The looks are decent and the racks slide easily. I'd purchase this again...
