Very good game, but isn't true to the actual plot of the literature. Pretty much the only things that are the same are the names of the characters and somewhat the descriptions of the circles. It's understandable that they deviated from the plot of the actual literature, because the actual plot doesn't involve any combat, and is just a tour and explantation of hell. Great game regardless.

A Game that Rivals God Of War

Really fun game, I enjoy the missions & the likeness of God Of War but that's also part of it's downfall which includes only being a 720p game(XBOX360 only plays that format). Honestly I'm making reasons to pick it apart as it's an amazing game to me & totally worth adding to your library of games.

Dante's Inferno is one of the funnest games I've played in a while. If you like God of War or Ninja Gaiden this is the game for you. Fighting is fluid and exciting. The puzzles are sometimes challenging, but always come at the right time to give you a little break. Graphics look good and I haven't seen so much as a hiccup in the frame rate. The game has high replay value and with upcoming DLC it's gonna be hard to put down.

I'm usually more of a Call of Duty kind of guy in the perpective of liking only first person shooters. I thought I'de give this game a try and it's been a good purchase the game is fairly long and is very challenging. Is one of those that after ending the game you can continue to a more difficult setting but keeping all your previous gained experience and powers. For sure if you want to play an action game which will be very hard to put down consider getting this game. I beat the game in about a week and half after getting it and I still cant put it down. Plus in the end of april they will be allowing a online multiplayer co-op skirmishes for this game !!!

I lost myself in this game completely immersed within Dante's character. Its a great roller coaster of his story in the crusade's. each level of hell brings about a new face from his past and an advancement in the plot line. It is extremely visually appealing. The puzzles that Dante encounters in hell range greatly in difficulty, it is important to remember each enemies weakness to get them done before Dante meets an untimely fate and you, the player, becomes more and more frustrated. The game focuses heavily on the combat and doesn't disappoint. It is a hack and slash game no doubt, but requires knowledge of each enemy and your own attacks (be it Holy or Unholy) to defeat them in the timely manner required. So in conclusion this game has a great story to tell as well as great combat and striking visual effects.

I knew this game was going to be a great purchase and I admit that I was having some doubts, but once I popped that game into my 360, I stood corrected by my first instinct. This game keeps u on the edge of ur seat and the graphics are really, really great. The game doesn't put up much of a challenge but it's extremely entertaining! If u buy this game you seriously won't regret it!

If you look at Dante's Inferno on its own it is a great game. The storyline is based on a poem called the divine comedy. Its a journey through hell. Both the graphics and sound quality in this game really set the mood and tone of the game. Level design is varied. There is a lot of action and platform puzzles throughout the game. Lots of replay value and incredibly fun. Forget that its like this game or that. This is a great, fun game on its own. You will be missing out if you dont give it a look.

New take on old story, excellent gameplay

I don't agree with everyone who defends this game for not being like God of War, but saying this game is a "knock off" seems to suggest that you think God of War INVENTED the genre. When in fact the hacknslash upgrade your moves genre has gone back quiet a while before God of War was even a thought. God of War came out for the PS2 in 2005, Devil May Cry could really be accredited for refining the genre that...yes..GOD OF WAR..check this....COPIED. Devil May Cry was released in 2001 btw. And even further back, you have the Tenchu series, which dates back to the PS1, the Ninja Gaiden series that dates back to the NES, along with the Rygar series. So to say that Dante's Inferno is a blatant knock off of God of War is like saying Halo is a knock off of Doom. Nothing is new under the sun.

This game is really a great game for anyone who loves intense graphics and exciting game play. I heavily enjoyed the game and still play it even after beating it. One thing that gets you is the graphics in the game. The cut scenes are so clear and realistic, it's like watching a cg movie. The game play doesn't disappoint either, graphics still look great for it. Only disappointing thing about the game was the short game play. In 7 hours I was able to beat it. However, there is a soon to come downloadable level, so that might add some more time playing to the game. Overall, the game is great and exciting. It's hard to stop playing once you start.

    Only a hack and slash

The video game is gorgeous graphically, but if you've read the epic poem that its been named for, you will be rendered disappointed after playing even just the demo if you hope that the two coincide. Although this game is a great hack and slash/ adventure not too unlike our favorites such as Devil May Cry and Onimusha as well as the newer Darksiders (consisting of all of the same elements such as souls and the like), you'll have to be your own critic. If you have the ability to understand the Divine Comedy, i would definitely read it before playing the game to get a better understanding of what is taking place.

I just downloaded the 1 Gig demo from XBOX Online and......WOW! There were demons, death, Hell, lots of blood and even some nudity.....all in the demo. I cant wait to see what is in the whole game. A great aspect of the game is the fact you can decide how to kill your enemy after you impel enemies on your weapon......rip them to shreds or whip out the cross and finish them that way. This is God of War meets Castlevania and The Suffering for the PS2! This thing is going to be AWESOME!!!!

    Welcome To Hell

Dante's Inferno is based on the Divine Comedy, taking you through the 9 circles of hell to get his wife back from Satin.Dante's weapons are a scythe after you defeat the Grim Reaper, and a cross, one your wife gives you before going to hell. You have Holy and Unholy meters to fill as you go through the game, and you get to Punish or Absorb the demons and creatures of hell. The game is not for kids because of alot of the cutscenes and gameplay.Filled with nudity and brutal violence this game pushes the M rating it was givin. The game plays alot like God Of War with Dante whipping Death's scythe around like a ninja warrior, regenerating loss health, music, voice acting, and quick time button events, and it's not really a bad thing. The graphics are pretty cool to look at,with every level looking the way it should.Take Lust, there are things in that stage you though you never see.The game can come to be a little repetitive, which you'll go through the game fighting the same demons and creatures over and over, using the same moves over and over. The game last about 9-10 hours give or take, depends if you die alot. This is one tour of hell you should not miss.

    Truly Epic

Dante's Inferno is a good example of how to successfully adapt a classic for modern audiences. Although a bit short, only around 6 or 7 hours, it packs a solid punch. I recommend this both to fans of the story it's based on to those who want an epic adventure game.

If i had never played any of the God of War games i would think this game was pretty cool. The graphics are pretty clean, the game play is fast paced and exciting... ...but i just cant get over the fact that they're COMPLETELY knocking off God of War! The controls work exactly like they do in God of War, example being the dodge stick. Even the way the character looked was very similar after a certain point. Now, i've only played the demo, so maybe the story will blow my mind and make me forget i'm playing a knock off. This is just another Heavenly Sword.

I would recommend this game to those that are busy in life and can pick up and play for a few minuets a day (you know the causal players). Don't get this game if you expect to be playing all week....because you wont.
