Excellent. Drew me in from the beginning and never let go

A rare example have a good big-budget science fiction movie. My only real complaint was Kiefer based his character just one step above Igor. Otherwise a splendid movie.

I like sci-fi movies, but I kept waiting for something to happen and it never did.

The video: Has been totally remastered, including color, hue, edge enhancements and the movie overall has had the brightness adjusted to point were you can now see more of the city than ever before. Colors burst onto your screen, even when shadowed or in low light situations. I must say that New Line Cinema really went all out on every aspect, virtually eliminating all signs of grain in this newly mastered version. Sharpness is constant with sharp edges never going out of focus or giving a soft image, especially during action sequences, remaining cystal clear to the viewer. The sound in the Director's Cut is presented in 7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio sound also includes a 5.1 DTS soundtrack supporting the special features, but I want to focus in on the HD Audio included. In a single word, I want to describe this DTH-HD Master sound track, it is absolutely..... " Superb "! Equalization is perfect in the fact that you will not have to keep adjusting volume to hear dialog and then back down due to surging of the sound track. I will add this, if you have a Integra or Onkyo receiver you might want to mute the sound if you pause the film, even if you have updated you dsp via firmware, because there is a audible pop (unlike the dsp bomb) that can be heard when resuming play. I have read on other sites that this is due to the soundtrack being completed before the new dsp standards could be implemented by New Line Cinema. Overall I am very impressed with New Line Cinema's release of " Dark City " it now has a place in my top 5 Blu-Ray films in terms of Visual and Audio quality that is only matched by about 4 or 5 titles to date and in my opinion just might be the clearest 1080p movie I have ever seen and thats saying alot considering how dark this movie is. Wow, great flick. Think vampire alien zombies that control peoples minds and you're the only guy that has caught on. Very weird, one of those what is fantasy what is reality yet confusing convulded story. It's done intentionally, you're thrown into the plot along with the main character. Great sci fi flick, should have been a big box office except so many movies similar in style or effect have surfaced, so even with it's interesting story it may be doomed to home video. Like Equilibrium, a good buy. Check this film out. Oh, Keifer Sutherland has a very interesting role, it reminds me of how Philip Seymore Hoffman got into his role for Capote. This movie is worth it, and then replay value is moderate to catch the stuff you may have missed. Not a favorite, but i think it was worth it, and i was happy with my purchase, certainly worth watching.

This is one of my wife and I's favorite sci-fi thrillers! This movie is captivating and gets better everytime I watch it. The plot is amazing and very complex. The acting was terrific and the cinematography is fantastic, very dream like. This is a very unique film. In fact, in most of my reviews I try to compare a film to something similar or recommend a film that's a lot like it. In this case, I'm stumped. And for a collector, like myself, with roughly 2,000 DVDs, that says a lot. The closest I can come would be the Cube series, but that's still a ways off. You just need to see this movie for yourself. A definite must own! I highly recommend it!

I picked this movie up last night and all i can say is wow. This movie is really good and has twist and turns you would enver think of. i have read some abd reviews on the movie but after watching it I can Honestly say i enjoyed it. I didd'nt feel like i was forced to up take some sci -fi BS but rather it blended well into reality and was very good.

Watched this over my buddy's house last night, after it was done i headed up to purchase it for my own collection, the picture is just so much more vivid than any previous dvd release of this film, and at the same time, takes nothing away from the darker aspect of the film. it is really worth a blu-ray upgrade if you are a fan of this film.

This film is a curious mix of Sci Fi and a murder mystery, with great acting by Rufus Sewell and William Hurt and Keifer Sutherlin. I've seen it at least three times and still I find new understanding every time I watch it. The plot is not predictable and the set contains an interesting mixture from many different eras. Special effects are very well done. I heartily recommend this movie!

I agree with the first reviewer on all points. Especially the color enhancements to the city. Watching in 1080p is the only way to go. Besides the very few cheesy parts of the movie, overall this movie keeps you thinking about what is going on and what will happen next. A must have for Sci-Fi lovers.
