The Start of a Master Career
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Criterion produced an outstanding set on this one. Noel Coward gave David Lean his first chance to direct a film. They were co-directors on the first film in the set which was better regarded than Casablanca at the time of release. While none of these films are as good as Lean's masterpieces Bridge Over the River Kwai, Lawrence of Arabia or Doctor Zhivago, what really is? These are outstanding transfers with crystal clear picture and sound. Anyone interested in David Lean's films or movies from the World War II era should pick this up without hesitation.
