The best part of this movie. Is the explosion. When those punks smash into those trucks carry toxic waste. But it's kind of hard to believe that anyone would survive that. The only thing believable is what city officials would do if there were survivors just to solve their traffic problems. After all, anyone below them, is not important. Even, if they voted for them. Other than that, it's okay.

This is one of my favorite Stallone movies. Plus it's a disaster movie as well, love disaster movies. So that's another reason it's a favorite.

Pretty good Stallone flick. If you're looking for a Stallone flick that isn't wall to wall blood and guts this is a good choice.

This standard action thriller stars Sylvester Stallone as a former medical services chief-turned-cabbie who impulsively goes back to his former profession after a mishap involving crooks causes an explosion to rip through a traffic-filled commuter tunnel beneath the Hudson River. He then risks life and limb to get through the rubble and pull out any potential survivors before they run out of air. Despite some nice SFX work, the film is predictable with Stallone giving us the same schtick he's been giving us since Rambo. The survivors are also stereotypes (a dysfunctional family, a group of convicts, a dog, etc.), &, naturally, there's a potential love interest for our hero (Amy Brenneman).

Stallone's final action movie of the 90s.

This was the last of Stallone's 6 big action movies in the 90s, which began with the man vs. nature thriller, Cliffhanger. This one is played more straightforward and serious. There is no evil villain to overcome. Parts of the film are very realistic in the human interaction. Other parts, are simply fun 80s style action. Stallone plays Kit Latura with a convincing world-weariness. Amy Brennaman is ok as the female lead, but forgettable. LOTR fans should look for Viggo Mortenson in an early role as an extreme sports celebrity.
