Days Gone is a game that squanders some of its potential for greatness, but depending on your tastes, you may end up loving it or hating it. On its face, Days Gone is a relatively standard zombie game, with enemies called Freakers out in the beautiful open world of eastern Oregon. These enemies aren't anything amazing; however, the big draw here are the Freaker hordes, which provide a new, exciting challenge for anyone who's become bored with the endless zombie games of the past decade. Groups of 50-100 zombies running after you can give you a thrill that's unlike almost any game before. Your main method of transportation is your motorcycle, which plays into the story about a former member of a biker gang, trying to survive a pandemic-induced apocalypse with the help of his biker brother as he searches for his long lost wife. The bike is a unique item, and if you're okay with having to keep up its fuel levels and overall maintenance, you'll enjoy the challenge the bike provides in traversing the environment. The story has received mixed reviews, and if you are not enjoying it, you probably won't make it through the roughly 40 hour long game. I happened to really enjoy it, and it kept me captivated the whole way through, but it may not land right with others, so ymmv. Days Gone may not have the polish and refinement of a Last of Us, but if you are interested in an open-world zombie game, this might scratch your itch. I will also note that Days Gone has received a recent patch which apparently allows it to run much better on a PlayStation 5 console, so if you are in the market for a PS5 and skipped some of the PS4 generation, I highly recommend this game for your new console.

This game has been so much fun to play. I enjoyed GTA5 and mostly play first person shooters like Call of Duty and Battlefield 4/5. There are very few games that keep me interested throughout the story. I've played games like Farcry and Assassins creed and they get boring because the fighting and shooting engagments get boring. Farcry 5 I was able to run and gun through every engagement and it wasn't fun. This game is the best game and most fun since GTA5. It feels like GTA5 but with zombies and a more narrow vehicle and world mission outlook. The shooting mechanics are fun and challenging and the Storyline is captivating and very fun throughout. Just when I thought I was getting to the end of the game, a new part of the map opened up and a whole new world/atmosphere came about with new missions. The vehicle is simple, you have a motorcycle throughout the game but there is plenty of performance upgrades and cosmetic upgrades to keep you wanting to earn money and camp credits. Usually scavenging in open world games is pointless but this game really makes finding bottles and kerosene and plants throughout the map important to be able to take on the zombies. You can go through the game mostly avoiding fighting massive hordes of zombies, or you can take on every group you see. You can approace each engagmenet tactically or guns blazing and each is very challenging. I have been playing this game for weeks and i'm still excited each time I play to see what the next mission or area will reveal. Please give this game a chance, it is a classic that can't be missed. I enjoyed this game more than Red dead redemption 2 and it's the most fun i've had since GTA5 and Call Of Duty Modern Warfare. This has to be one of the top 5 greatest games ever made if not top 3. The company that made this game has not released a game since 2012 which was Uncharted. That shows you that they have been working on this game a long time and don't release games every year to make money like COD and other franchises. This game is one of a kind. Check it out! It is worth the buy, hours and hours of fun, challenging gameplay.

The good: It has an engaging story. It has a main character that I actually cared about. Plenty of game play. Hordes are scary but really fun after a while. I had several jaw dropping moments. The stealth reminded me of assassin's Creed black flag. I really liked the stealth overall. When you spend points on your character you actually notice how much stronger he gets. I liked how after a while I got to know the roads and could get a general idea where I was without looking at the maps.
The bad: shooting was a little messed up. Sometimes when having your gun pulled up, if you were too close to something that was "blocking" you view (but wasn't actually) you would just lower your gun and not shoot. That became a little frustrating in firefights.
The ugly: I use a PS4 slim and it had terrible frame rate issues almost in every part of the map. Especially later in the game. It got to the point that some cut scenes would even loose frames. Some so badly that you would hear them talk and then 5 or 6 seconds later you would see their mouth move (this was sometimes fixed by restarting the PS4 completely). This was really upsetting at a final cut scene and the dialog finished and it cut the video short! Also, loading screens take a while and for some of them I just pull out my phone and look at memes.
To sum it up. I love this game. I really liked just about everything with it. The only issues that I have with it is that the game doesn't run smoothly, it has bugs, and these can really pull you out of the experience. Overall great but I had to dock it a star because of the frame rate and bug issues.

This is an open world Last of Us mixed with a little bit of Fallout (for better or worse). It does have some minor bugs, not game breaking, and audio can be off sometimes. But overall a very fun game and one of the best open world games. You feel like you have a reason to do what you are doing and not like you are ignoring this looming story mission with fetch side quests. Definitely worth a platinum!

I found myself pre-ordering this game with tempered expectations. While I was excited for the game, I didn't expect it to be mind blowing. So, maybe I went in with a different perspective than most, but I found the game to be a lot of fun. I did play after a few of the patches went in, so while I did experience some bugs, I didn't find anything that completely broke the game. Some odd animations here, some hordes appearing on top of me, and a weird glitch where I was going from my bike to swimming in water, were the only bugs I experienced. Currently, if you install all the patches, I think you won't find a lot of the things some of the gaming media day 0 reviews would complain about. The story is interesting, and doesn't go exactly where you would expect. It's not completely unpredictable, but it does keep you on your toes. My biggest complaint (and compliment maybe) would be that the most fun in the game is saved for the last third. Once you unlock the best guns (and max out your gas tank) and go horde hunting, it's a blast. It's the best the game has to offer. It's a little strange that it takes so long to get there. In conclusion, I would definitely pick this up. It's a good time, and a big time sync. But I felt rewarded in the end. Also, at this time, Bend Studio is still adding additional arcade style content to the game. It's amazing to see how dedicated they have been. Big thumbs up from me.

I came late to this game after its release, but I wish I'd played it sooner. It's a very detailed and realistic survivial-horror experience with weapon degradation, character fatigue, inventory management, and a compelling story of finding the truth about a lost loved one.
This game is very engrossing with it's realistic weapon damage, wildlife, and environmental changes. It's particularly difficult when facing off against a zombie horde, which will overwhelm you in seconds with one wrong mistake. You go around clearing hordes around the countryside and improving your reputation with communities of survivors.
The narrative is interesting enough to hold your attention until the end, and it's a fairly long game too if you are a completionist. There are periods of variety to go in guns blazing or to use stealth to your advantage, so it's a massively open world with zero load times.
The graphics are very good! The sound effects are great. The gameplay is very laid back and open to any play style.

This is a good game, better than I thought. It’s challenging but not too complicated. The graphics & story are the highlights of this game. The only cons are, the controls take some getting used to, there are a few glitches, & it can be a bit repetitive. But overall, it’s a good game. It’s fun & I’m addicted.

The game itself is gorgeous. There is a true survival feeling being out in the wilderness, with some small hiccups in design that may frustrate some, but others will love. Fast travel has to be earned. You need to clear pathways from point to point to create a fast travel lane by destroying infested towns. The mororcycle requires fuel, and yes you can run out. Not to worry, there is fuel everywhere. However, you will have to get off your Bike and make sure you are careful around hordes and zombies.
Story is good. Character depth is definitely there. Voice acting is spot on for most all characters and well done. One Complaint is that when riding a motorcycle and listening to Deacon's banter, when driving he starts yelling as if trying to yell over the Motorcycle engine noise. Hilarious at first, annoying later. Especially if you have a passenger on the bike speaking at a normal voice level.
Bugs have been squashed by now with a few frame hitches for some people on PS Pro. But not game breaking in the slightest. Dips to about 27 FPS at times.
Gunplay seems sluggish at first. But - as you skill up you unlock normal gunplay mechanics you are used too. The same goes with driving. Your Bike isn't as responsive at first. You need to purchase upgrades to enjoy better control. This was by designed, but I think people thought it was like this the entire game. I think it is a great fresh idea.
Mission creativity is average. You have infestations, bounty hunts, pursuits, hide and seek, unlocks for Skills and buildings, stealth hiding areas, and various different ways to tackle any given mission.
Crafting is highlighted. However, most hunting you do is for camps to turn in and increase your reputation for higher end gear / upgrades in towns. The problem here is the reward for these turn in's doesn't make a dent in leveling up the camp. Your rewards will come from doing missions.
Overall, very happy with the game with a few tweaks I would have liked or still would like to see patched. Definitely worth what I pad for it though.
Oops Music and sounds: Surround sound is buggy. Freakers / zombies will come running behind you and will not fade into the distance as they should when you drive by them,. It sounds like they are right on your butt for 15 seconds until the sounds vanish, and in 5 seconds you already lost them. Music was absolutely awesome. Reminded me a lot of the music from Read Dead Redemption 2.

Social media and the critics would have you believe that this game is terrible and should be avoided like freakers! I am here to tell you that these cynics are full of it. I feel that this game is a mixture of The Last of Us, and Mad Max, both of which are great games. The open world is huge, the graphics and scenery are beautiful, the story is interesting and has a number of twists, the combat it gruesome and satisfying, and overall I really feel that the reviews are way off. There are some pop-ins and the frame rate does dip occasionally, but I have never encountered a game breaking bug or had the game become unplayable. I would say if you are interested in this game, pick it up and play it for yourself, I did and I have loved it!

I have been sitting on my hands waiting for another good single player game. One that I couldn’t walk away from, something with story and mechanics and a game when I do stop playing I cannot believe the time that has passed. Are the enemies good? They are great! Finally a zombie that doesn’t fight like a spartan. Drive around on your chopper, pop some freekers, kill some other baddies and upgrade your stuff. Maybe some folks do have some problems with it, but I played RDR2 for about 2 days and never picked it back up, and this I can’t put down. It just is my kind of game.

When the game first came out it was very buggy and needed many patches. Now that the game has been out for quite some time and completely fixed its one of the best new games Sony has released. Days Gone has a very good story that's not convoluted and does not try to talk down to its players, so you want to play it to the end. Getting lost/sidetracked in the world is also both easy and fun which makes you wanting to keep going and also anticipating playing it again.

Fun, addictive gameplay with a very compelling story. It's Post Zombie(Freaker) Apocalyptic setting is nothing you haven't seen before but there are enough new twists on it to still keep it very interesting. I experienced a few glitches here and there but nothing game breaking.
Short version: If you like what you've seen from the gameplay demos you'll like the game. If you don't then you won't. I would give it 4.5/5. Great way to pass the time while you patiently wait for The Last Of Us Part 2 to release.

This game is great ( key word :great ) if you are looking for a main character who will Change or delvop . Then. Don’t buy it. But if you are looking for a good zombie game. With a good story about the world then look no further. It really feels great killing the undead with weapons , the shooting manices could be fixed and their is some frame rate and some
Cutscene issues you might face but , it isn’t Game breaking . The main character just seems to
Grow on you , as a result
Of that , I was more invested in him and the world
Around him

I was a little skeptical of getting this because of the reviews but I honestly dont know of what. I read all this crap about bugs and repetitive objectives but that was it. I played this and yes I've had a FEW, like 2, bugs here and there and some stuff may seem repetitive but the game is good. You get a strange satisfaction from beating freakers with custom melee weapons. Story is good enough. Graphics are nice. The swarm offers a challenge. It feels like an open world last of us clone only not on the same scale as amazing.

Fantastic zombie free roam game! With all the over saturation of zombie games out there sometimes you have to be careful which you buy. This is one of the ones Im glad I purchased! The original release reviews said that it wasn't that good, but they were off base. It's a great open world game and original in using a motor cycle (which is a really fluid vehicle) as the main mode of transportation. Neat story and acting along with great visuals, but it's a long haul. Sort of like Red Dead Redemption 2 with infected.
Worth picking up if you have the time to devote to it and it's around $20.
