A bad show became good

Season 1 was objectively terrible, possible the worst of the CW DC shows. However, Season 2 went through a major retool and emphasized the comedy and lunacy of the plot setup, making the show a lot more enjoyable immediately. What used to be the worst of the Arrowverse shows suddenly became the best.

What happens when you take a group of g listed heroes and put them together with a group of writers who are either do or die? you get a great show that makes up for the first season as you actually start to care for these people.

We get to see the Arrowverse's version of the Justice Society of America! This season's bad guys are the Reverse Flash and Damien Darhk! Rip Hunter is also a temporary bad guy for a few episodes.
17 episodes on 3 discs.

DC's Legends of Tomorrow survived its first season as well as SuperGirl's 2nd Season move from CBS to the CW station. Now the weekday is packed with Arrow, The Flash, SuperGirl, and DC's LOT all from the DC Universe. Not being a fan person of just DC or Marvel's it seems that DC has dominated the TV side of things while Marvel's focused on the Movies. After watching the first season of LOT, it seemed many thought it probably would not last or would get another season. After commenting about two certain characters which I felt were somewhat weak Kendra Saunders aka Hawk girl and Carter Hall aka Hawk man they were removed in Season 2. I'm wondering if the writers were listening. Some interesting twists of season 2 is Rip Hunter gets brainwashed and ends up being one of the henchman fighting against his former crew of Legends. This made his character more interesting since he was just the Captain of the Timeship but had no actual special powers other than his gun. But seeing his character acting as an American filmmaker and later brainwashed into the Legends' worst enemy this added more depth to his one dimensional character of season 1. Another bonus was seeing Gideon the artificial intelligence controlling the Timeship in the flesh (to not reveal to much). The loss of Leonard Snart and possibly Mick Rory probably connected to the new "Prison Break" series hopefully is temporary since it was obvious why they were originally chosen as part of the Legends because of their strong chemistry. Since most of the show involves Time Travel, it seems that "The Flash" might have some of the best writers on this subject so if they could tap into their writers for this show some more I'm sure it would elevate it. I found myself appreciating Season 2 more so those who gave up on this show in Season 1 should take another look as Season 3 could be better if they keep it up.

"After the defeat of the immortal villain Vandal Savage and the corrupt Time Masters who colluded with him, a new threat emerges. Dr. Nate Heywood (Nick Zano), an unconventional and charming historian, is thrust into the action upon making a shocking discovery – the Legends are scattered throughout time."
"Nate must find a way to rescue season one’s beloved team of heroes and rogues, including billionaire inventor Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh), who has created an exo-suit with the power to shrink him to miniscule size, as the Atom; Sara Lance (Caity Lotz), the White Canary, a trained assassin; Professor Martin Stein (Victor Garber) and Jefferson “Jax” Jackson (Franz Drameh), who together form the meta-human Firestorm; and Mick Rory (Dominic Purcell), aka Heat Wave, a career criminal. When the Legends encounter the J.S.A (the Justice Society of America, the precursor to DC’s Justice League) in the 1940s, Amaya Jiwe (Maisie Richardson-Sellers), aka Vixen, joins the team. While the team reunites, a mystery looms – the fate of former captain Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill)."
"Once reunited, the Legends continue their new mission to protect the timeline from temporal aberrations – unusual changes to history that spawn potentially catastrophic consequences. When Nate, the grandson of J.S.A. member Commander Steel, unexpectedly finds himself with powers, he must overcome his own insecurities and find the hero within himself. Ultimately, the Legends will clash with foes both past and present, to save the world from a mysterious new threat."

The second season sidelines RIp Hunter in favor of Sara Lance, who develops skill and confidence as the new captain of the Waverider. Never short on personal combat, the show gives Caity Lotz and Neal McDonough and their stunt doubles epic work. The White Canary and Damien Darhk use their League of Assassins training against one another recurrently across the episodes.
For the first time DC's Arrowverse puts together a villain group. From the first season of "The Flash" Eobard Thawne returns to recruit Darhk and Malcolm Merlyn of "Arrow". Images of his dead partner Captain Cold begin to bother Mick Rory's thoughts as that very complex character undergoes yet more personality development synced with the plot arc.
The season plays fast and loose with our history, but celebrates the power of story to inspire human nobility. George Lucas (a character, not the man himself) makes a pivotal appearance underscoring how movies, our modern mythology, affect our personal destinies.
The series crosses over with "Supergirl", "Arrow", and "Flash" in an alien invasion plot that transcends the ordinary to examine issues raised in those other series about metahumans and "outsiders" whose abilities differ from the norm. The Legends themselves have to grapple with their own intrusive meddling in their own histories' flow. Gaining new members, battling private concerns, they truly start to gel as a team.
