The story is overall good but it is yet another chapter in the Superman vs Lex Luthor genre. In comparison to many of the other DC Animated movies this one falls short but is still a noteworthy plot given that it touches on the concept of the death of Superman (the real one this time). If you're big Superman fan you will enjoy it for the casual fan it's probably going to seem a bit slow.

Standard Superman yarn about his relationship with Lane and and Luthor. The Superman sagas work best with other superhero characters or a very good plot. Note: the DVD may not work on some Panasonic systems.

Were you a Superman fan in the 30's and 50's? What about the 60's and 70's? What if your only exposure has been the Christopher Reeve movies? It doesn't matter. This movie is accessible to all fans of the character, and it's a great movie even if you're not a fan. Lex Luthor has hatched a plan to kill Superman once and for all, and it works. He is dying. Superman only has weeks to live, and he is going to use those weeks fulfilling his life's dreams, and performing feats that only he can do. Many people have written off the character of Superman since he was first introduced in 1938 because he's too powerful, there is nothing he can't do so there's nothing interesting about him. However, this isn't necessarily true. While he might be able to life a mountain, how does he react to the fact that he doesn't have long to live? The character of Superman represents what we could be at our very best, maybe not physically (Though in the last week I haven't actually tried to lift a mountain) but emotionally. This movie gets that. Not to say it shoves it down your throat and you're going to feel lectured to. Hardly. The movie is a great ride from beginning to end. It's got some great action, a and fun sense of humor. I haven't enjoyed Superman this much in years.

So if there was an option to give no stars and negative stars I would have, because a 1 rating is far to high for this film to rate. As a fan of DC films and the various characterizations of Superman in general I had hoped to enjoy this over hyped film, but such was not the case. The plot was non-existent, alright yes, superman is dying, but that would only be a plot IF he ever decided to do something about it. it jumps around from concept to concept, never truly actually starting into anything, ignores the source material, and overall never makes even the slightest attempt for me to feel for these characters or explain, well, "why." Look, if you want to see it, feel free, it is quite pretty stylistically, the voice acting is well done, and Jimmy Olsen in drag for no good explanation is hilarious. But if your looking for a good film, then I would suggest anything else, and that is coming from a person who enjoys these films.

This is by far the worst Superman movie I have ever seen (including IV) and that is saying a lot!! If I could get my money back I would!!

I think the movie was awesome but the ending had me tearing. I feel a part two coming soon.
