Easily Peter Jackson's best film, the zombie comedy "Dead Alive" is full of laughs and is one of the bloodiest movies ever made. The story is about a man named Lionel whose mother turns into a zombie. He continues to care for her and the growing number of others she infects. At no point in the film is the violence hard to watch. The film is very light-hearted, and everything is played for laughs. There is never any tension or a sense of dread, so it's difficult to call this a horror film, even though it has zombies. The DVD contains the US unrated version, which is missing about seven minutes from the foreign version; it's mostly missing character development, but it is also missing a small amount of gore -- almost nothing compared to the total amount in the film. According to IMDb, the American unrated version is Peter Jackson's preferred version of this film. This film will probably get a special edition sometime soon, but this is still a decent release -- it's in widescreen and contains the director's cut of the film, but it would still be nice to see the other seven minutes of footage at least as deleted scenes. Highly recommended.

This is a classic film by Peter Jackson. My wife and I loved it! It's actually rated as one of the goriest movies ever made! If you like movies such as, The Evil Dead series, A Cat in the Brain, Cabin Fever, or pretty much any zombie movie, then you'll love this film. If you don't like gore flicks, then why are you even reading this?! I feel this is a must own for horror movie lovers. It's more like a horror comedy, really gory and really funny. I highly recommend this movie. Your horror movie collection isn't complete without this film. Period!

Well i don't know where to begin here, other than saying this is the goriest movie i have ever seen. And to think the guy (Peter Jackson) who did the famous Lord of the Rings trilogy did this movie. I am a true fan of horror movies and i love this film, its funny, disturbing, scary as can be, and gruesome. Let me warn you if you have a weak heart or stomach or just don't like horror movies you need to stay away from this one. If you are a true horror fan...ENJOY!

***/**** This is Peter Jacksons' splatterfest or shall I say splatter feast Dead Alive aka Braindead. The film is about a dumbfounded young man ( terrifically plaid by Timothy Balme) who becomes the unwanting recepient of a zombie curse. First his mom, then the nurse, then everbody and their brother are claimed by it.But all is fine for he is inclined to tend to them untill..... Not for every taste but those interested in this genre a must have.

One of those films you don't know what to think of when you are watching it aside from, "WOW, did they just do that?" Skull Island intro makes a nice connection to Peter Jackson's King Kong attempt. A Cult Classic. If you want something that will make you twinge, this is a nice blood bath for the birds.
