What A Great Cast, Great Story. A Classic Movie. Good Stuff.

I vaguely remember seeing this movie when it was first released- I remembered that it was the first time I'd seen Nicole Kidman act and it was the movie that gave her the opportunity to move to the US. When I ran across this copy at such a great price I immediately snatched myself a copy. If you're a fan of psychological thrillers, this one has lasted the test of time. If you're a Nicole Kidman fan, you definitely need to own a copy. The only downside is the lack of bonus content (just the theatrical trailer), but this is the only version available and I doubt a Criterion Collection is coming out anytime soon.

The cast is excellent as well as the story. I purchased this to upgrade from a DVD copy and was well worth it. The confronting of darkness and the perseverance to overcome incredible adversity is well conveyed in this film.

What a knock out performance by Nicole Kidman. This movie is a nail-biter from beginning to end. All performances are great but this breakout performance by Nicole is fantastic and she is the whole movie. I thoroughly enjoyed it and am so glad to now own the Blue-ray and at a great price. I definitely recommend this movie.

This is an above average suspense movie with a solid looking blu-ray release. No extras on the disc besides trailer. I found it in the 5.99 bin.

Somehow I had missed "Dead Calm" and glad I finally saw it. Good thriller with great performances all around. A young Nicole Kidman is the bomb!

This is a great little tense Aussie thriller. Once of the better films of the late 80's. Recommended.

This is a older movie that I originally saw in a movie theater and was delighted when I was able to purchase it from BestBuy at a good price so my wife, who has not seen it, can watch it anytime we want.

This is a fine Australian thriller by Philip Noyce that first put Nicole Kidman on the International map. The Blu-ray, however, is merely adequate in its picture quality, and its lack of any special features beyond a trailer is really substandard. The rating and recommendation is only for the film.

I had this movie on VHS back in the 90's. So I was delighted to find it on Blu ray. It's a really good thriller if you haven't seen it.
